Mrs Recovery Addict, I'm totally impressed. I wish I had been raised where these concepts were understood and practiced.

This was very informational, thank you. My husband and his 5 siblings did the TJED and Robinson curriculum and this helps me understand it more. I was public schooled in CA unfortunately haha. I like the Charlotte Mason method but I appreciate all the different ways we as moms can educate our children. First baby is only 6 months but trying to plan ahead 😁 You mentioned knowledge….Kevin Swanson says how knowledge is just facts, then understanding is comprehending those facts, then wisdom is discerning how to use what you know and when.

I love that breakdown on information and how we apply it. I’m impressed you’re already thinking about this with such a little one. I’m grateful for all the options, as well. I’ve seen so many families successfully use many different approaches.

That is so awesome! Two things: TJED is doing their online conference right now tjed.org/product/7th-annual-tjed-online-convention/
And if you have little ones, the best tool I have found for living TJED is well educated heart. Here’s their free training www.librariesofhope.com/catch-the-vision and I have a few videos on it (because it can be a little overwhelming). I’m super excited for you!

I wish I could find moms that think like you to be around. I feel alone most times because most families around do Unschooling, “Lazy” Charlotte Mason or School at Home so I don’t have freedom to talk about what we are doing without getting eye rolls. We do Christian Classical Education but I’m now incorporating TJE.

Esther I’m sorry you don’t have more families around you to support your homeschooling. It is so important to have help as a mom, especially when doing things that are long and drawn out. I don’t know where you live or what the options are for you, but have you considered joining an online group? I’m sure there are many I don’t know about, but I love the Mothers of Influence groups www.homecenteredlearning.com/blog/mothers-of-influence, the Schole Sisters scholesisters.com, and Revolutionary Families revolutionaryfamilies.simplecast.com/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0oJJDCdDQ67E1e8IUZMVBYTcxDOAVc6satGt9CMyIz-uOjkH1Xu7Bb36o_aem_t4dT673vKein1xCvEpEAsw.

@@homeschoolgroundzero8300 One of these days I’m going to start posting here on CZcams. Definitely planning on sharing more about this. Scholar phase is hard for us as well especially because we have very few homeschoolers where we’re at and especially not tjed. My 2 oldest ended up going to a charter and public High school and then community college with the idea that they understood that this was their scholar phase. They have done really well, but I’m hoping to change the path for my next 4 kids. I have a different idea of the scholar phase I want for them, especially after discovering The Well Educated heart

I have both and they are very helpful. Mostly I struggle to know how much actual reading needs to happen vs. following their passion. For example, I have one who loved acting so he spent hours practicing and performing plays, another who loves coding so he spends hours and hours programming, and one who loves music so he spends hours practicing the piano. Are those activities considered part of the 5,000 hours of scholar phase?

@@homeschoolgroundzero8300 There's a long answer to that. I've covered it in videos on our Conventions online. I'll try to summarize. Basically: It's important for youth to have time to work on their talents and interests, but sometimes those things get a disproportionate amount of attention. Scholar Phase is meant to be a time where they challenge themselves to do hard things and prepare to become an adult who understands the world around them - including how to perpetuate freedom and fulfill a life's mission. Sometimes when youth find a particular gift or passion they focus on that -- sort of skipping Scholar Phase altogether -- as if they were already in Depth of Mission Phase, developing a career path, rather than building the foundation for it. Scholar Phase includes those things, but is not defined by them. Does that make sense? The actual study of the classics, human nature and the underpinnings of successful society are critical. If they focus primarily on talent or career driven pursuits, they are at risk of being only superficially educated, and vulnerable to shifts in technology, economics, social trends, etc. They need the broader liberal arts Leadership Education to be able to successfully bob and weave as the climate shifts, and to be a force for good when society is in jeopardy.

Jane, that is an excellent question. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. You’re in a great place with young kids, there is so much fun and adventure ahead of you! If you like TJED, you might also love welleducatedheart.com. @@homeschoolgroundzero8300 When you do I’ll be here for it 🙂. I am aware of the well educated heart. I am not confident in implementing it though. Or sure about how it meshes well with TJED. But thankfully you have made these videos, so thank you for that as well. I am coming from a waldorf, CM point of view into TJED. Recently introduced to it and it has met well with my soul.

@@Berserk_Alize3 I love that description. It meets well with my soul as well. Honestly, CM also speaks to my heart, but I used Amblesideonline and it started to feel too regimented and overwhelming. A few years after that I came across WEH. It resonated with me but it took many years before I figured out how to work it into my day. To me, WEH and TJED are the same philosophy, but WEH focuses on the early years and TJED emphasizes the teen years. Both use classics, self education, and love of learning before intense studying.
I’m curious about Waldorf. Does it blend well with CM?

    • @Berserk_Alize3

@@homeschoolgroundzero8300 I would say yes and no. But my yes is only because I have seen folks use the two together(CM/Waldorf). TJED seems to have less information out there I have barely scratched the surface but I have noticed there is not a lot of personal interpretations or information on it. So I am very happy about your channel and appreciate it very much. But if CM/TJED can mesh and CM/Waldorf can mesh I’d say Waldorf/TJED could possibly too. Especially for those just picking here and there and making their own Collection of philosophies that work for their family.
I am about to go review WEH’s rotation I would love to implement the rotation. Just not sure how to do that with my 5 and 2 year old 😵‍💫 . But I am just reading classics and poem’s for now.
