As for the Video, might be kinda hard, since the "Best" beginner plane is a very subjective topic. We can spot a beginner plane from a mile away, as we have so much experience with these planes, BUT that doesn't mean it's the BEST to you or to the other guy. I've struggled with this in my own experience - what plane IS the best? There's many times a BEST plane for the conditions today, and a BEST plane for the conditions tomorrow, so we aim to help educate our audience on HOW to pick a BEST for themselves. It is pretty hard, especially when you're NEW. You'll be lulled by looks and forget you don't know how to fly the best looking planes ;)

I've lost my last excuse to not watch some of the videos my wife sends me ("I can't sit thorough more than 20 MINUTE VIDEO.") I'm pretty sure I've watched at least 10 of your Ubox and Build videos! Love them all. Just wish I had an Acronym cheat sheet. Hooked up with a local club and am 5 lessons in suprisingly exhausting, but having a blast! Experienced first disaster yesterday when instructors Apperntice had an aileron failure on takeoff, not too much damage.
Glad you're getting into it, and thanks for being here with us! In no time you'll be flying solo. When you have one of those issues, it's a scary thing! I just had that happen on my brand new F-16 Thunderbirds 80mm!!! Not sure if you saw it - if not, might want to check it out (Maiden Flight and Near Miss - just released the other day)

It's shorter by quite a bit. The Timber has a BIG tail. This one looks real nice! I do kinda wish the nose gear bogey was a BIT more sturdy, but other than that, very nice plane!!!!
I have had this one for a year now and its Brilliant - one thing you do need to ensure is that the Hatch CLICKS into place or it will come off - as I know from experience, The Tecnam has a lot to offer and I cannot help but feel it is under rated..
The first time you flew at your new house I was like this guy's as crazy as I am flying under and over power lines! I love it! But it's great to know they're going away!
They were supposed to be starting any time soon, but now I hear they won't be done till mid to late November!!! I'm pretty pissed about it too...they quoted a 4-6 week lead time, but that makes their real lead time closer to 12-14 weeks! They already cashed our $24,263 check. We had to pay 100% down - I would NEVER pay for any other construction project with 100% down - what a joke these monopolies are.
Oh well, it'll be nice to have them down - might save my life some day, so worth it anyway!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hey, we're are in the middle of a $4.5m HVAC upgrade on our companies building. We've paid 75% and we keep getting pushed back. Supposed to start work July 11th, now they're saying November 28th so I feel your pain!

It really is a cool plane! Wasn't convinced at first, but it just does everything good, except that bend on the nose gear...it's a rock solid plane, and looks WAY better than I thought too! I love being surprised, since we've gotten pretty good at pre-judging these planes, Megan and I.

I have this plane and love it, I do FPV with it, had to reinforce that nose will though, I run a 4S 4500 in mine I can get about 20 minutes of cruising flight with FPV
Is the stock ESC rated 4S 🤔 Pretty cool you can get the CG correct going from a 3S 2200 to a 4S 4500 That's a lot bigger heavier battery. Did you have to add weight to the tail etc to get the CG correct 🤔
@@EJ-74 Yes my ESC says 2 to 4S , I have a flight controller, and FPV equipment handles the weight awesome, check out my homemade fpv cockpit with the dji system and fatshark system hooked to it like share and SUBSCRIBE
Full barndoor landing flaps r g8 for slow flight but bcz of severe drag leave pilot with only 2 options
1. Land with 50%+ throttle
2. Come down in a nose down attitude at 20-30% steep slope and just b4 touch down give lots of up elevator. But u got to have large throws available, bcz flight controls lose authority at slow speeds resulting from flaps
a friend has his dedicated for float flying, he said landing on wheels was very tippy???
I think this plane is marketed almost more to those looking for flats, but I was really surprised how nice she was, even with the wiggle on the nose gear.
I bought this plane about 4 months ago and am using a 4s 2200mah battery and it will take off in about 2 ft and go straight up with about 75% throttle. plane flies way better with 4S and will do anything you want it to. I used it with floats and wheels and am very impressed with how stable it is in water taxi. Just like a boat in performance and gets on plain and out of the water just as fast. You need to use 4S for Max performance.
If you want speed, sure. I love seeing her fly scale, and since it's General Aviation, I don't want it too look too fast ;) I'm a sucker for scale flight. Now, if this were a warbird, maybe I'd be singing a different tune.

Adding soft tires to all these planes would be a great suggestion. How do you get the manufactures to comply? Are there other tires available?

Hello Brian, I’m really enjoying all of your detailed unboxing and setup videos. I’m looking at getting into flying RC airplanes and was wondering which would you recommend as a beginner airplane the apprentice 1.2 or the apprentice 1.5. Have you considered doing an unbox and setup of the 1.5 STS. Thanks James
We got it used, and never actually did the Apprentice 1.5m from the new in box state....plus at that point in our RC reviews, we weren't consistent like we've been for the last half decade or so...
I did JUST reach out to our contact at HH and asked if we could do it, since they just "Re-Released" it again.
That being said, the 1.2m is a great option too, and we've done it TWICE - LOL ;)
These are the "beginner offerings" we suggest all the time, but the 1.2m or 1.5m Apprentice would be great launching points for you, as a beginner.

What is the recommend voltage to end a flight? I tend to finish at 3.85v per cell but wondered about going to 3.6v per cell.
3.85v per cell is just about the perfect voltage to end a flight as that puts you as close you can get to storage voltage without having to put your battery on a charger. If you are wanting more flight time and don't mind putting your battery on a charger to bring it up to storage voltage then 3.6v per cell is fine, you really just don't want to go below 3.3v per cell. I had a bigfoot and loved that plane, it was one of my favorite planes to fly for sure.
My recommendation - I prefer to bring my packs down to no lower than 3.30V DC, but it happens. If you want to use a pack and then store it, hitting at or about 3.80 VDC per cell is a nice target, but with SMART packs, they'll keep balanced and then you don't have to overthink it too much...just charge them when you're done, and you're set ;)

We don't have one, and no plans at the moment. I have a T8SG, and had a heck of a time getting things to work, BUT if you're going to use OpenTx platforms, this plane and any external stabilizer equipped planes would be a perfect matchup!

Dear Brian; please tell me the radio protocolo of the Arrows Tecnam.
The Arrows Tecnam only comes as a PNP (Plug and Play) so you'll need to supply your own receiver and transmitter. It does come equipped with the Vector Flight Stabilizer, so we'd recommend an non-stabilized Spektrum receiver.
