  • In this video I try my very best to cool a six man 3 season tent with the newair air conditioner model NAC08KWH01. I walk through my thought process and eventually we get it set up for testing. This may be too much for a camping elitist to handle.

    Those little units work great. I work at a hospital and when the lab got a new test machine in we found out it put off a lot of heat for the room it was placed in and the hvac couldn't keep up. So one of these units was put in to use for two years until a mini split was put in that room. So I can attest that these things do a remarkable job in cooling

    I did something similar. It would have been unbearable camping without A/C. I'm looking forward to a canvas tent and that will make an AC even more effective. I'd be careful with a reflective tarp because it might compromise your rainfly. I have a big agnus bunk house 6 man tent so destroying the rainfly would be expensive. I used moving blankets on one side to block airflow going out the ceiling and simply collapsed the other side because it's a full fly. It worked really well.

      Please check back in when you do this with a canvas tent. I would like to know the result and thank you for the tip about moving blankets👍

    I just spent over a grand on furniture & cool /fun camping accessories, decor. i bought the ozark 18x19’ glamping tent. It’s been so long since I’ve been camping but we set this up in the backyard for family fun. Im in Florida tho & holy cow it’s unbearably hot! We went out & bought a portable AC w/10,000 btu’s. Ab to get the Velcro & material to cover the all mesh. I can’t thank u enough for this video! I’d hate to have to take this tent back after all the work it took setting up & decorating. This saves me a hassle. ❤ worst case scenario I’ll buy a different tent to hold air better but I’d like to keep this one if at all possible

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před rokem

      @@matthewmichalski2879 a gazelle would probably work very well with this setup with little to no modification. I would look into a two hose unit opposed to a single hose that way you have positive and not negative pressure inside the tent.

    @spa_xer4570 Před rokem +1

    I setup the same type of ac in a canvas tent. The seal was so good it was pulling vacuum in the tent. I couldn't get the temp that low without cracking a window to let air in. Thinking of getting a dual hose

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před 10 měsíci

      A dual hose would probably work better and if I had the chance to do it over again that is what I would go with.

    We’re thinking of doing Fort Wilderness in Disney august of 2025… never even thought of an AC in the tent! We already have a portable one for my apartment since the windows weren’t made for the window/wall units. Going to have to pullout the tent and see how we can set it up 🤔

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před 4 měsíci +1

    i live 45 miles from pensacola an one tip i will give is go ahead an invest in a kodiak spring bar tent for doing this and first time you use it with ac you will kick yourself for not doing it first time only disadvantage to them is weight an canvas is cooler in the direct sun even without the ac!!

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před rokem

      If I lived in the area I probably would invest in one since the are so durable.

    Awesome set up man I had the same idea with the top vents badass seeing it come to. 1 question for ya how’s it work with one hose? I heard the ac units with the two hoses work better if that makes any sense

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před rokem +1

      I’m hindsight I would use a two hose setup this way there would not be negative pressure inside the tent. The one hose system works great but it tries to pull air in from every place it can.

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před rokem +1

      Make sure you’re tent is staked down and that you use your guy lines. You may have to let some air in to equalize the pressure. Maybe a little opening near exhaust tube

    What are you using for a power source?

    • @unclebillscamping
      @unclebillscamping  Před rokem +2

      This runs on land power supplied at the campground. One of the reasons I recommend only using this in an rv site. You could use a generator but I would make sure you are not near other tent campers.
