If there’s any chance you could remember when/where the tale was told I’ve no doubt that you would be incredibly appreciated by all of us that enjoyed the tale, big breaks in the tale notwithstanding.?
I’ve yet to find it in book form or anything else (film, dvd, book, large text message (lol) but your opinion of the book, film and/or the quality of the narration would be appreciated by us scifi nerds.
You’re in an incredibly unique position having been so fortunate to have seen a movie series, and one question that always stands out is whether the films/videos are faithful to the original story as told by the author or a complete pile of steaming pile of rocking horse sawdust?
If you’re into your scifi and the way some producers mess things up, think Kyle MacLachlan in the huge turd that was the first “Dune” film! Tried to watch it a couple of times but it’s so badly written by the screenwriters that it needed to be destroyed and never mentioned again in polite society - it was so far off the mark of the book (the use of some weird techno jive music was simply awful) and any screen writers that have read the books would have known the original film was written during a bored/drunk Monday afternoon.
So what do you honestly think about the films etc that you were fortunate to have seen?

@@tomsparks2294 mate, you’re a lifesaver or at least someone that’s been incredibly helpful and kind to this particular oldish (63yo) veteran of 28yrs, not that it changes anything. Hopefully I’ll be able to find it and watch it before my cheerless Haematologist’s prognosis reaches its final conclusion, or as veterans gallows humour might put it “fallen off my perch/reached my expiry date/or reached the Best before date”!
Hopefully if I find it in time I might get to watch as much as possible before the Stage 4B terminal cancer catches up, but the tumours have been named - “Colin” is the main one, but when it metastasised it invited all its family and friends to set up shop and the fecking buggers proceeded to leave a helluva mess everywhere there was a lymphatic system. No point whingeing about the lack of a future, except to look forward to except a sci-fi series that a very kind stranger was able to recall and unknowingly gave this old veteran something to look forward to. Even if it’s not available I won’t be upset as I’ve come across a kind stranger on the internet that helped me beyond words can describe.
Thank you so much Tom Sparks for everything you’ve done. It is greatly appreciated.
Might I wish you and yours all the best that life can offer you, just as you tried to help myself and my wife **
** a retired GP, Palliative Care Consultant and the person I married in 2013 shortly after my initial diagnosis. She’s definitely my rock and helped me even after the diagnosis was made but she refused to give up and I’ll be grateful for as long as I’m still here.
You might wonder why I would share this part of my life as the veteran part is the more interesting, but it’s one way I can show my gratitude.
      Anyway here goes;
Joined the Royal Marines Commandos in 1978 as a sprog 2Lt/Yo-Yo, retiring in 2006/7, after time in 42 Commando, 45 Commando, but mostly with C Squadron, SBS trying not to be killed by the submarine taxi service and saying thanks to G-d that sub design had improved so much we could get an entire group inside the egress airlock without feeling like a sardine! I Had an “interesting time in Ghanners on invitation of our younger American brothers to go on a “Boys Own Adventure” in Oct/November 2001 walking/riding over the Tora Bora hills, on a huge game of hide & seek, but Bin Laden had enough money to bribe a bunch of the higher command in Pakistan.
Sorry for bending your ears/wasting your time but I wondered if there was a decent or hoofing dit I could share without crossing the line of the OSA (Official Secrets Act) but I’ve left a manuscript for public consumption after I’ve “crossed the bar”.
There are plenty of books from the SAS (Saturday Afternoon Soldiers!) but the SBS are far more shy about operations to the extent that few people even know they exist! Our trek through the Tora Bora and the subsequent bun fight at the Al-Junghi fort is known about but there’s other stuff I’d love to share if time allowed.
Hope it comes out in a legible manner as the morphine pump and fentanyl patches make a mess of short term memory and lucidity takes quite a beating as well.
      All the best,
      David & Pam
      North Riding of Yorkshire.

oh wow! I just saw your post and subscribed. I am going back over the story. I’m trying to remember where I saw it. It, I think it was, a series on paramount plus.
Yes I’m a sci-fi nut. Not geek mode yet, but I would rather watch/listen to a sci fi than anything else. As far as the Dune fiasco goes…
Well we won’t go there because I believe I’m in polite thinking company and wouldn’t want to ruin it. (Ya it sucked, should hang the screen writers!)
This series was called something else, a different title altogether. (Can’t remember the title it was so long ago). However, the memory I have of this series (this audio) the story was missing a chapter or three. What IS here has followed the movie series very accurately. I don’t want to spoil it but…
The virus is alive and is ancient alien tech. It runs, miller chases, they nuke it, (Miller dies in the explosion)[sorry, but he shows up later (dimensionally) and directs Holder) after nuking it, it lands on Venus (I think) turns into some kind of thing that takes off and heads into space where it finally turns into a ring that “leads places”
The way they find out is ya can see thru the ring and see many many other rings with worlds visible in some of the rings.
So a kid making a fast run from somewhere to somewhere else, trying to beat some record, makes the brilliant choice of going through the ring at high speed. When the kid hits the event horizon, his race ship stops dead! The kid ends up all over his dashboard (splattered) Holder gets the bright idea (when chased and desperate) to try going thru the ring slowly, and it works. He is able to lead the way and all kinds of cool stuff happens.
Let me know if ya want to know more , and I’ll tell the rest of the story. I think it is in the upcoming audios tho. If not, I’ll tell what I know. Again thanks for airing the books!

disappointing, rupture to the story from nine hours, 52 minutes, when to attract in the casino hallway with 34 Mercedes, preventing them going to the Doc to them having beer and being treated on the ship, and in that time so much has happened that there is no definable link between the two parts of the story so quite clearly there’s a large chunk missing. This is very disappointing. And one has to try and pick up the story from the other end, good story, ruined by a bad upload and obviously AI narration. Try better next time

Big gap at 9h 52m 55sec that switches from being stuck in the casino to suddenly being on a ship being treated, and as a result it ruins the whole thing. What’s the point spending all this time cramming book 1 into something else without a logical link. Don’t waste your time on this nonsense unless you’re using this as a means of falling asleep otherwise you’ll be incredibly disappointed and angry at wasting so much time listening to an otherwise interesting tale.
The comments about this being read/written by AI would seem to have spent very little time actually listening, which is why the gap was so obvious.
There’s a fairly obvious difference between anything narrated by AI and something narrated by a human - AI tends to struggle with emotional emphasis, unlike a human.
