The vintage races at montery are pretty good. But it would be really cool to see an entire series like this. Unfortunately, I think most of the cars that would be eligible are worth too much to their owners to take racing.

I reckon TCM should replace the Supercars as the main Bathurst race. V8 Supercars just don't hold the magic anymore. 1000km in these would be awesome. But then, I'm old enough to remember the production races of years gone by.

It is Mount Panorama, located just outside of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is normally a public road with numerous houses located both inside and outside the track. Several times a year, the 60 km/hr speed limit signs come down for some serious motor racing action. Some track statistics; length 6.213 km long, with mountain Straight (uphill) being just over 1.1 km long and Conrod Straight (downhill) just under 2 km long. The steepest grade is 1in 6.13, and the circuit rises and falls 174metres from the lowest point, to the highest and back again. There are about 23 bends and it is indeed a most spectacular track, with top speeds in the 300km/hr± for the tin tops.

@@joeconnolly1144 It is a most spectacular track Joe, although I now live in Australia's smallest and most southern state, I grew up in the Bathurst area, and as Mt Panorama is a public road, I have driven around it many times. The steep parts are very steep, and even driving around at just 60km/hr, you get a real feel for the degree of difficulty. If you Google Mt Panorama, or Bathurst 1000 you will find lots of stuff and plenty of video action. Although the present cars, known as Australian Super Cars, look like road cars, they are purpose built race cars, and about the only genuine parts would be some panels and the badges. In earlier times, they had to race in stock standard cars, and there was a far greater range of different models, and to my mind it was far better. Earlier on it was known as the Armstrong 500, sponsored by Armstrong shock absorbers, and was 500 miles long, but sometime in the 60s (I think) the name was changed and the distance increased to 1000 km, around 620 miles.
If ever you find yourself in Australia, it is well worth the effort to get to Bathurst and do a quiet lap around, and there is also a trackside museum with lots of previous winners on display, and if you can wangle it for a time when they are racing, you will just love it. Cheers
