I have watched your CZcams videos for a while now and I have come to the conclusion that your dad is the hardest worker in the business there
Ya I gotta agree with ya bub
Facts
If it wasn't for his dad he'd be lost!!!
I have to agree and the most knowledgeable
I drive the same exact truck and mine was losing coolant and it was the reservoir was cracked
Watching Tim try to figure out how to shift the Volvo is like him trying drive a spacecraft super entertaining.
Let your wife have it.❤❤❤❤
YOUR DAD HAS DEFINITELY WON THE HARDEST WORKING MAN AWARD OF THE YEAR!!! HANDS DOWN. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR ALL HIS HARD WORK!!!!!
He bought his dad a minty 2005/2006 Duramax a few years back. But you're right he is a damn hard worker.
It burned in the fire
@@launceherron oh my god I didn’t know
@@launceherron damm not good
My wife retired from OTR trucking 4 years ago and her last truck was a Volvo. Said it was the best truck she ever drove.
I love watching Brax just jump in and start checking fluids n what not. Then when he actually moves them around it makes me smile. He's gonna make a hell of a trucker some day!! Probably a hell of a mechanic too! Teach em young!! Rock on!!
Hey Tim I think you really need to give it to your wife she deserve it
To be a Volvo driver you need to have your left foot up on the dash and several gps's on the windshield and phone in your hand
While speeding down a grade
Not true at all that's being done in all trucks.
And speeding up when a truck trying to pass trying to assert some type of dominance
You are an inspiration to a lot of people. Working with your father and your son is a blessing from the Lord. Keep doing what you are doing.
I think Mrs Gentry made an executive decision on the Volvo. I always wanted to drive a big Semi so it’s really cool to see someone drive one that you wouldn’t expect to.🇦🇺
Probably the EGR cooler leaking internally. That truck doesn't have the option to shift while in manual mode, it would have a + and - button. Thats only for holding a gear.
You and Ashley are so compatible when you're together that it almost feels like a warmth I get seeing you two enjoying the company of the other and having a real fun time doing what both of you love.
Looks like a nice truck to keep for the wife or for a driver/team. I'm an ole truck driver and I'm like you I would rather drive a 13 speed (or any manual) over a automatic. So glad to see you doing so well, keep up the good work, and take care of your family. I like that you and Brax work with your dad. My dad was a general contractor building mostly residential homes.I started picking up nail at 7 y/o. I worked with him off and on ( got drafted into the Army and went to Vietnam as a combat medic 68-69)Got out of the Army in 70 and went back to work with dad by 75. Until the building market collapsed in the early eighties. I sure had some times and learned alot from my dad. Then a friend of mine taught me how to drive a transfer dump truck and evidentually ended up doing end dumps, refers, flat beds. and doubles. I even got into being a diesel mechanic on the trucks I drove and the other trucks he had when I wasn't on the road. Sorry this is long winded but you bring back so many wonderful memories. God Bless and let Him direct your life and business.
Few things about the Volvo. I’m gonna assume you probably just aren’t operating the cruise control correctly. To turn cruise control on it is the top middle button on the left side of the steering wheel, to set the speed, use the dial directly underneath that button and press down, to adjust speed up or down scroll up or scroll down from that dial. I personally haven’t seen the cruise control fail on the Volvos I’ve driven, even with various check engine faults.
Next is the shifting control. Your Volvo just happens to not be equipped with the shift up or shift down buttons as well as the drive mode. The M is for holding a gear. The workaround for not having the shift buttons, is using the engine brake control lever for downshifts. Usually switching from level two to level three will force a downshift. Then pressing down from position three to position B, you can force a maximum downshift for whatever gear is available at that speed.
That engine should hit about 35 pounds of boost, so it definitely sounds like there’s probably a leak, but could also be related to check engine light. In the cluster you could check for all the faults and a generic description. You can also check oil level in the cluster.
Also, that sunroof/moonroof is not all it’s cracked out to be. In the middle of the summer they let in a lot of heat. Also, they seem to have problems with leaking.
All in all, they are generally very reliable trucks, apart from the emissions system obviously lol
Westen is gonna be jealous of how close you're to O'Reilly since that seems to be one of his favorite store to dream up crazy builds and fix projects
Great video Tim common coolant leaks on those Volvos are from the upper and lower rad hoses due to loose clamps, water pump, heater hoses, and the plastic lines on the front side of the surge tank are known for leaking
He checked them lol.they wasn't leaking
@@jerrywilcox9890looked like drip marks, but maybe those were from filling.
Tim, you should consider keeping the Volvo. They are a very popular truck here in Australia because of their reliability plus Ashley likes it and would more than likely go back to driving. Great repo job.
Thanks for sharing another great video Braxton is growing Everytime we see him. You guys rock!!!!
I'm really happy for you all keep on doing what you are doing keep those wheels rolling and my God bless you and be safe out there
Man Tim! If I wasn't 61 and my wife wasn't a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor, I'd LOVE to move to TN and drive loads for you! You run a tight ship and you're wise beyond your years and I love your family business model! Oh well...Unfortunately retired not by choice, but you do the best with the hand you've been dealt - and you, my friend, have been dealt a winning hand! (Totally understand that it wasn't easy either!).
Tim I think the Volvo was a nice addition to your fleet keep it for mama let her do some runs for if she wants to
Good looking truck brother. You're taking the green truck off the road, put the Volvo on the road. As always God Bless you and your family ❤
I have run the deer whistles on my trucks and personal vehicles for years now. They do work !! You should give them a try. The deer will stand still and watch you go by.
That engine was made locally in Hagerstown, MD. B4 covid they would have an annual open house to tour the 1mil Sq ft facility etc
You guys have an awesome inventory of trucks. Thank you for keeping America running.
Man I love watching your wife rocking the big rig!!!
I've seen so many small trucking outfits sink because of these new trucks I'd unload it faster than you can swat a fly.
I'd have to go 10-4 on that..... too many variables to work thru on the new trucks when they fail
I enjoyed watching you sell the idea of keeping the Volvo and the wife being excited about the idea of driving it to get boats and stuff, love the channel and the growth of your family business.
I like watching your CZcams videos. There’s a struggle out here. Bless you and your family. I hope your blessing keep coming your way
Bro, you don't have to explain yourself on the repo. Everybody gets it, and if they don't, they've never had anything reposed so they don't have any respect for anything. If you've lost everything you owed, you have respect for everything you have........... Keep up the great work, bro.
I betcha that truck would look so good shined up. Can't wait to see it.
Great video. I drove the same model truck for 2yrs. Lower radiator hose clamps caused my only leaks.
I really like the Volvo cabs quality, very solid and quite, the electrical is a good layout, windshields used to be easy to change.
Gotta buy the premium shifter which will mount on the side of the seat but gived you ability to upshift/downshift, and access to drive modes, or you can have the stock shifter flashed to be able to enable modes and manual shifting. As it sits currently, all that M does is lock it into a gear.
Dont need seat shifter for that. That truck was fleet specced to lockout manual shift
All he's gotta do is change the ECM programming. Changing the type of shifter isn't going to do anything
@@joshalex93 i was thinling if he wanted a mpre comfortable way of manually shifting. Ths premiun unit is more "natual" feeling
@@Shennanigans5.0 it's easier to take the dash apart and put those 2 buttons back in..
Looks like a nice truck, good luck with the repairs, I really enjoy your videos.
Would be a great truck for a young husband and wife team.I say keep it.
Tim... Volvos are good comfortable trucks. I drove one in my expedited days. I loved the ladder to pull out to get into the upper bunk. I hope you decide to keep it. You won't be sorry.
If you want better shift points, you can tune it to get rid of progressive shifting. Progressive shifting will skip gears and shift lower in the rpm band to save on fuel. Theres a performance mode on some of the volvo shifters where it'll wind out the rpm and hit every single gear without skipping.
Great content as always...think that the Volvo is a good addition to the fleet and with your mechanical ability should be able to sort it out really quickly. Like you said it's driver friendly...gotta say amazing job selling the wife on it...I took notes there🤣...but in my opinion a smart savy business move well done.😎🚛🇺🇸🔧🛠️😇🙏
Hi there Tim, Braxton and Family. Great looking truck the Volvo. Great content that your putting out there. Man keep up with what your doing too provide for your family. Hope that you keep the Volvo and be able to put a great Team in it or let the wife get on the road when she wants. But most of all you guys do what's best for your business, your family and for you. God Bless You Gentry Family. 😏👍
I watch your CZcams channel quite a bit and I like what you're doing you work with people on repos keep the truck and work the truck
Would love to see Ashley doin some drivin think it would be good content for the channel, also now it’s about having the time to do so with looking after the kids and helpin run the business.
You could see when see was drivin the Volvo the look on here face she was enjoyin it, it was great to see.
Great to see the family and business doin so well keep it up. 👌
Love watching your vedieo with my son I love driving big truck and they like watching them and riding in them God bless and have a great day
And congrats on your new home and shop you and your family deserve it god is good be blessed man.
That is the best-looking truck driver I've ever seen.
I agree with you tim. Most new drivers dont care for the old trucks and rather just be able to get in and go but there are a few of us that don't align with the majority and rather have the older stick shift trucks without all the electrical stuff
Nice truck Tim glad you got it looks like it would make a dandy
Yer dad is the bomb...his knowledge , experience and steady attitude ard JUST RITE..! Hope yer co has good times a comin...yer wife and son like the auto, and you can field some with new drivers...GO..!
First thing I would do is get the interior thoroughly cleaned and the cabin filter changed and then look into the seat shifter that volvo have. See if it fits to your truck if you want manual gear selection option. Then go with cruise fix, the coolant and then finally an exterior clean.
Just getting my CDL within a month my dad who is a trucker well it just runs in the blood an watching your videos inspires me also
It’s a great truck Tim love the videos ur an awesome person
I bought my 2020 vnl 860 back in February been running since and loving it. I got the 455hp 1850tq and 2.64 RAR I Shift 12spd with performance shifter, FlowBelow Aero, Air Tabs, and big exguard grill guard up front, and still has the exhaust on it. I pull dry van in the Midwest hauling feed and feed ingredients always grossing 78k to 80k and been averaging between. 7.1-7.8 mpg running between 70-75mph. I think this truck will surprise alot of people.
The Volvo looks like a good move to me Tim. And you have the endorsement of the Gentry mum!
Been driving an M-drive Mack trans for 6 years now, and they’re bulletproof!! Never had a breakdown or any issues with them. Yes, it’s fun to get back into a stick for a day or two, but on the second day, I’m wishing I had the M-drive back
Yeppers that transmission will flat spole a guy 😮. I'd surely put it to work. My sister drove a Volvo coast to coast for 20 years pulling a refer, with 400 cats in them, an only 3 year old. Full sleepers, for 15 years she never had a house. Very nice 😉. Most drivers would be happy to drive that truck. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.
Nice ride Tim!! Looking forward to another video about it - curious about the coolant problem.
They drive and ride really well also very good a backing
Hello it's nice to meet you I love trucks but I never driven one and May God Continue to Bless you and your Family keep in touch 🙏🙏
Grew up near the White/Volvo/Mack plant in Dublin! Good luck with the Volvo!
Keep the Volvo there dam good trucks I drove one for 5 years and never regretted it at any time, I had a 13 overdrive and loved it. 🎉🎉🎉❤
Just finished watching Cooper’s podcast; congrats on the baby!!
Black pearl, nice catch. That truck, man, that would be easy, especially as a new hire or older driver looking to slow it down.
It was cool to see mama gentry driving the rig.go getem mama G.
Having issues with the video bud, tuning in all the way from Moncton New Brunswick Canada love your videos watch them as soon as they come out
Keep up the great work and hopefully 1milion subscribers soon
You’ll love that truck… I had a VNL 780 … lovely ride good fuel mileage… had to give it up due to health issues! You will have to watch the emissions systems though! Mine cost me a lot of $$$ Volvo wasn’t good at that, hopefully they’ve perfected those problems in your truck!
momma is in love with the truck
I was in a 2018 760 for about 3 1/2 years delivering propane tanks. Was a good truck and I ran it hard including high idle time. No bunk AC and it had a Hiab 49' knuckle boom crane. Delivered 3 to 7 loads a week anywhere from Main down to Florida and as far West as North Dakota down to Kansas from around Sandusky, OH area. Only issues I had with it was a dpf clean out at 250,000 miles and the breather filter got clogged so it was puking out oil.
Happy wife, Happy life Tim!
ILL COME DRIVE THE VOLVO FOR YOU TIMMY!!!! That unit would clean up really nice I love the color ❤😊
don't worry brother what people say !!!!!! we know your good people!!!!! hater's gonna hate !!!! if i don't pay my bills they will pay someone to come and get whatever. if you make an agreement with someone to finance you on anything, and break the agreement, thats on them.
Timmy, you're gonna love that Volvo, and if not I'll come drive it next spring
That was an awesome video I liked that Volvo Hope you all have a blessed night god bless love you all👍🙏❤️
The Volvo looks like a good truck for your wife appears clean. Just the coolant issue to sort
Safest cab built. Don't put the family in anything else. Keep it stock (until all warranty is expired). Get it to the dealer and let THEM plug up and diagnose (tips from 25+ years at a dealer). Keep up the good work. One last tip: read the owners manual.
Tim I have watched a lot of your videos in my opinion Ashley your wife that has always loved you as well to care for you maybe think since Ashley likes the truck keep it offer her to paint it pink for her to honor the love and support Ashley has given to you.
Over the past 44 years I’ve drove all the big trucks and every transmission type there is,I retired at 40 years and thought I was done with it but after a couple weeks I went back to work partime driving a 2012 Volvo and it was a little embarrassing at first but it didn’t take long to fall in love with it. It’s like driving my pickup and you can drink your coffee and eat a biscuit while driving down the road. It sure does make those 600 mile days a lot easier, and if you have that def system deleted you won’t have to worry about it constantly throwing codes, plus it will run better and get better fuel mileage. And on that manual switch there should be a couple of arrows pointing up and down so you can switch them and to go back to auto just press Drive. It helps when you’re climbing and loaded heavy to keep your RPMs up, cause it will fall to 1000 rpm before it grabs a lower gear. That water leak probably in that heater system.
I didn’t know your wife’s got a cdl. That’s awesome!
Order the other shifter for it with economy mode or power mode it will be a game changer for that truck
That's what I've been hearing
Commenting while i'm watching lol. Cruise is left side of the wheel middle button on top, for on and off..bottom button under the toggle switch is cancel/resume, toggle in middle of left side of the wheel is set +/-
I like and love how you operate your trucking business, I’m now Three years in Milwaukee Wisconsin USA , I’m from Cape Town South Africa, I got my code 14 drivers license in 1981 , I used to long distance ( over the road) , I can operate a 18 and 13 speed shift
I love the color on that Volvo. VNL's are real nice trucks.
Tim, the cruise control is on the steering wheel and tilt is a foot pedal on the left side of the brake pedal
Nice color keep update enjoy watching tim
I’ve had a towing company for 25 years - so I’m a believer in seatbelt use - just saying you have a lot of younger followers- love the videos
I'd drive it! Man the more I watch your videos the more interested I get in getting my CDL. I've been debating for a while I just fear getting screwed by a big trucking company for the first year or so. I can't afford to pay for my own training. Been having a hard time here in Ohio for a while now trying to make something happen. Appreciate all the good info you guys give.
Something that can happen is get your license threw a mega (from my research cfi seems decent) and you can leave at anytime just have to pay the loan off and most the time they do prorate it for every month you drive for them takes so much off or go get a class b which is easier and is like dump trucks school busses ect and save cash from that to upgrade to a class a or check with your state sometimes they have programs and scholarships you can apply for and sometimes working for the state directly they will sometimes pay for a class b idk if it's contract work or what just some options to think about.
Thanks for the great info. I had an interview today with R&L for class c no cdl and they have similar programs while playing a good hourly rate. I will look more into this, Thanks again!@@johnspratt4421
there are truck driving schools in Ohio if you live near Medina, OH check out Hamrick truck driving school they can help you get student loans for their course.
Got my CDL in 2019 through Austin Community College. They had two tractors that were both automatic so that's what I tested on. Have a manual restriction.
Tim, I’m a retired truck driver 48 years went back to work for fleetpride in Ellenwood Georgia. Jackie Bruce has 12 of those Volvos leased to Fedex running team and every one of them has run 1,000,000+ miles trouble free on the engine the DPF is the only issues with it don’t be afraid of it.
I had them leak behind the egr cooler it’s a plastic coupling from cooler to block or cooler itself. It’s wonderful to change
Tim that would be a good truck for Ashley bring her spirits up
I like it y'all should keep it
wow truck really runs clean, put it to work Tim
It's a Nice truck i like it and the blue looks good i think it was a good catch. Keep it.
Tim you guys will love it I put 800000 kms on a 2020 complete trouble free
That’s like the Volvo I haul mail with! They grow on you! 😂 The cruz in on the left hand side of the steering wheel. Top button turns it on and the flippy button in the middle sets it.
I have 2018 780 volvo. I brought it brand new with 10 speed manual transmissions. I wouldn't trade it for nothing. I got 712k now and still kicking 😎
After being stuck in a auto truck for a few years ive driven a Volvo just like that but it was a 19 VNL 760 manual mode will let you shift the truck the shift up and down were beside the M and below that was the P+ or proformance plus look at a mack trucks manual its the exact same lastly there is a extra click under the throttle to make it down shift and can use it to hokd a gear longer again look in the manual for the unit those trucks are way too easy to drive and i see why there so many accidents with them to easy ti get comfortable and distracted in them anyway have fun have a blessed one
I think yall should keep it and put it on the road, it would be a good investment to the fleet, a good money maker
grate truck for a team or for the family to go for a drive on a long hall! love it!
Grate- what you do to cheese for nachos.
Great- something really cool.
Thats a great lady, she does it all.
Id drive it in a heartbeat. I love the pre elog manual trucks and hate emissions. But thats a nice ride for sure.
i used to drive a volvo loved it great trucks
