Luis Miguel’s mother Marcela Basteri was italian and his father Luisito Rey was Spanish singer from Cadiz, Spain, while his dad was on tour in Puerto Rico his mom got into labor before the expected day, as a consequence Luis Miguel was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico but he never lived there, his parents were leaving in Mexico at the time and Luis Miguel was raised in Mexico and became famous in Mexico so he is mexican at heart, he loves Mexico and considers himself mexican. His mother used to call him “sole mio” in italian meaning “my sun” Luis Miguel is very fluent in Italian also, and because of that he is known as EL SOL DE MEXICO or THE SUN Of MEXICO

His father is from Spain, his mother was Italian but had family in Argentina ( Arg. has a very large Italian and German population) Luis was born in Puerto Rico but moved as a child to Mexico where he was raised. He became an official Mexican citizen as a teenager and considers himself as such. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WATCH THE LUIS MIGUEL SERIES ON NETFLIX.
