Just goes to show you the power of the 429 … I had a ‘69 Marquis429-4v, 11-1 compression in an almost 5000 pound car that beat most anything on the street in the ‘80s. I remember racing a Buick GS 400 4 speed and running neck and neck for a long stretch. We got to the next traffic light and he couldn’t believe this Marquis could run with him…

This is a beauty. Yeah it requires 750 horsepower to accelerate this much mass to that speed in that distance. The 127 says it all in my book. I used to own this car years ago, I sold it to Mike. It was nothing like this. Mike taught me alot about the 385 Ford many years ago. Man he did an incredible job with this thing, the video of the run demonstrates that. Amazing job.

I could be wrong, but I'd think that 750hp should move this car faster. I'm guessing he's having some serious traction issues. If he ran slicks he'd probably be running 10s

Beautiful Cyclone! I had a 70 Torino Cobra 429SCJ, Ram Air, 4:11 rear with top loader 4 speed on the street from 1978-79 to 1990 when I sold it. Still kicking myself for letting it go. Bought it for $600. Engine was apart in boxes and trans and interior were out of car. Took about 9 months to rebuild the 429SCJ, do body and paint and get all parts back on. Painted it lacquer B8217LM autumn maple firemist metallic which was a 1980 olds color. Looked like the same red Cobra peaking around the corner at 8:42. Good Luck with it and DON'T sell it 😀 Currently driving a 2021 Mustang GT/CS with lots of HP and torque but just doesn't have that classic pedigree.

    Orange with the lower black.
In 72 he bought Cougar XR7 with a 351CJ. I grew up with fast Fords.
    I miss those days.

I cut my teeth in drag racing driving a 1970 and a 1971 Torino Cobra Jets. My brother bought one brand new and let me drive it. Pure stock back in 1970 it ran low 14 second 1/4 miles at about 104. He kept making modifications until it ran in the 11’s. That was around 1975. A friend had a 1971 SCJ that ran low 12 seconds at 112 MPH I drove for him. When I quit racing I was a licensed NHRA Pro Stock driver in the late 1980’s.
These cars are fun to drive and he does a nice job driving. 127 MPH is definitely enough power to run mid 10’s with drag slicks and more rear end gear. Grabber blue. I had a 1970 Boss 302 that color.

It was a living room on wheels 😅, it was the party mobile. having the 429 thunderjet motor, with 4 of us on our way to an Ozzy concert going up a steep bridge that was 150ft high I went from 120mph to 0 and it was still pulling. I venture say we were at least going 130mph. Anyway the front end started to shake so I let off. With that said that engine had so much torque that I actually broke the frame in half doing a burnout 😮. So thats the end of my story and the car, RIP thunderchicken 😂

I would assume the battery could be disguised under the hood and a real one mounted in the back to help with weight & traction. I used to know a guy that bought a brand new '70 Boss 429 Cyclone, tore the engine apart, put 12 -1 pistons in it, a nastier cam, intake and a bigger carb, schieffer clutch, and headders, and raced it all in 1070...and I built the exhaust system for it....4200 lbs of NASTY Ford....ran 12's back then....OnWard....

Beautiful all STEEL car! I also appreciate him running a REAL 4spd manual trans not a race, quick shift, no clutch trans! That alone makes his fastest pass impressive! I had the opportunity to buy a Torino 428 CJ but passed due to the baby shit brown color 🫣

May I have the stock motor for my stock build, If you are putties a Godzilla in it? It is obvious that you are not going to use it on the car and no use of letting it waste in a corner somewhere and I will use it in stock form. I guarantee you are going to love the cruiser it's going to be put into. God bless your family and friends, and I thank you for sharing this beautiful car with me and my family.

Very nice Cyclone!!! Love the front end and hood on that car! I understand your pain when it comes to finding parts. I have a 72 Gran Torino Sport 351CJ 4spd and parts have been very difficult to attain. If I have a 68-71 Torino I could get all the parts I need.
