@@GrowingInTheGarden is it ok to leave straw around strawberries all year around? (not on the plants). just a small layer, like maybe half inch, to retain some moisture and keep the sunlight off the compost, and change the straw every year to keep fresh.
You probably covered everything I can think of thanks. I planted three plants in a 3ft-15ft. In one year I had it bustling with strawberries. They are one of the most productive plants Iâve ever seen.
Love the low desert specific advise. Think we will give strawberries a try in the fall.
Great! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for the mulching tip to avoid soil contact pests. That was info I really needed
Thank you so much for your tips for us in AZ. I moved six miles east, and it was a big difference in soil, so my Strawberries didn't make it last year. Have a great year in your garden, looks like it will be weather wise.
Propagate the cut off runners using a cup of water for the bud to rest in. They wii root quickly and become new plants and you didnât throw them away!

I've had my strawberry plants for 7 years now đ this year they've given me more than other years đ
Youâre only saying that to support the strawberry faction. What other evil intentions do you have?!
@@MobileAura Sorry, I have no idea what you're saying?
I got these plants when my kids were in elementary from their plant sale (2013/2014) Had a few here n there never produced much, my yard wasn't the greatest. Moved them to grandma's place this year and they've exploded with strawberries. Same plants. In a pot. No issues. I have two varieties. One blooms later in the season, so im waiting on the second set. First group has already done well.
Dad and both sets of grandparents were farmers. Kids got green thumbs. I do not. I just figured it's the magic touch of the kids taking care of it more now at grandma's. đ€·đ»ââïž possibly cuz im way up north. I'm not sure.
That's great!
Thanks ^.^ i actually thought there was no hope for these plants. I only got a small amount if any at my house before the bugs got to them... or my pesky squirrel neighbor. Or my rabbit who would eat it all. So I really was not expecting much of a production.
Second strawberry plants has set its first fruit now. So far 4 lil ones. I'll see if they manage to get ripe đ
