I really enjoyed it! My nearest temple is smaller, I thought it was interesting how the Orem temple has the different stories (levels) with cherry blossoms at different stages of growth. Growth is a great word to summarize, for me going to the temple is about growing spiritually closer to God, to my own family, and even the rest of the human family. I am curious, have you looked into the difference between Protestant and Latter-day saint views on the Tree of knowledge of good and evil? I believe they are quite different. The Book of Mormon teaches "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Adam and Eve partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is described as a transgression, and also, a necessary step so that mankind could "be," come to Earth and learn and grow through good and bad experiences. (It's hard to learn if you can't make mistakes!) After been redeemed from the resulting sin through Jesus Christ, and choosing to participate in ordinances of His church, we believe we can gain access to the Tree of Life as we use our agency to choose good over evil.
Really enjoying your amazement - and am sharing *my* amazement (as non-LDS / non-Evangelical) - seeing a dedicated Protestant (yourself) being pulled toward the Mormon faith. I don’t see people asking the following, so I will: Looking to 2024, what do you surmise the Percent chance is that you will join in full by this coming summer (2024)?

We are evangelical (my husband is a pastor here in Utah County) but we just toured the Orem Temple last week, and Mark and Monica were also our tour guides! They were super sweet and taught us many of the same things you mentioned here. This was my first time inside a temple and it was indeed very beautiful, and very educational.
I was a member of First Presbyterian Church until the age of 24 when I became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The gospel instruction available in a temple is just amazing!

Alma 32 is the scripture that best describes my the process I went through spiritually as I was turning to the Lord at 17 years old. “28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves-It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.”
One of those original Norwegian Immigrants to first settle Orem was my great great grandfather. They joined the church after hearing from the missionaries and reading the Book of Mormon and left everything to come to Utah to be with the saints. David I loved you mentioned the bridal room. I live in Los Angeles and my daugther was living in Utah when she was plannig to get married in the Salt Lake City temple. And because I couldn't miss many days in my new job, I missed all the wedding preparations. Everything was done without my help, opinion or ideas. i was stroggling with money and I was sad that I was not able to travel to help or participate in the small details. I felt out, not included at all. I was able to traveled one day before the ceremony. I was a convert and I have never been in a sealing ceremony before. The brides go to the temple in regular cloths and they change in the bridal room. I thought "oh no I will be out again" . To my surprise the temple assistant asked for the mother of the bride to help with the dressing. Only mother and daughter!!!! I was so happy, I enjoyed every minute with my only daughter in the bridal room. Maybe for someone this sound silly, but for me was a lot because I am one of many mothers that must work to help with the family economy. Unfortunatelly we missed a lot of important events at school or other activities, We appreciate the small things with our children.
@mariatrejo1248 - I'm glad you got to share that special time in the bride's room with your daughter. I too have an only daughter. She was sealed in the Manti Temple and it was just her and I in the bride's room. It was especially meaningful to me to be able to be with her in that special place because I had been inactive for many years and had worked hard to be able to go to the Temple with her. The bridal room was a very special bonding time to talk with her and assist with dressing. I loved not being rushed. Just as we were leaving, another mom and daughter came in. I hope they got the room all to themselves just as my daughter and I did.
@mariatrejo1248 & @micheleh3851 Thank you both for sharing this. It made me reflect upon my own experience in the temple when I was preparing to be sealed to my husband. I made the very difficult decision to not have my earthly mother present for the sealing due to a long history of abuse, but weeks before the ceremony, in a completely different temple, I had a beautiful experience as I was pondering wedding plans in the celestial room. I won't go into specifics but it was such a touching and unforgettable reminder that, "Truth is reason; truth eternal tells me I've a Mother there". Thank you both & God bless.
That’s really cool that the word that came to you describing your temple visit was “growth“. That’s actually a main theme of the Orem Temple. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I heard that throughout the lower levels, there are many depictions of flower buds (Namely cherry blossoms, I believe). As you walk through the upper levels, the higher you get the more the buds are depicted as blossoming. In the celestial room, they are fully blossomed. So the word you chose to describe your experience fits perfectly!
As to wearing a wedding dress, a bride often does wear a simple white temple dress. I did. Anything worn in the Temple will be appropriate, somewhat simple. For many, the brides room is a beautiful place for a the bride to prepare. Spiritually and physically.
“Growth”… I just love that! As I was listening to you share your insights, it became clear to me that has been my experience with the temple. I have been attending the temple for 32 years. For the vast majority of that time I have attended not understanding the symbolism and covenants, but trusting the promises our dear prophet has given if we attend often. I’ve needed those blessings so I began this past year attending as often as my schedule would permit. Often kneeling before I go, telling the Lord, “I choose you. No matter if I understand all the symbolism or things taking place. I want You to be my God. I want my life to reflect that He is the most important thing to me, and attending His holy house will show my heart.” This past year, finally miracles are unfolding and His love signs are being poured into my life like I never dreamed. Growth… yes, growth as we exercise faith in Christ and trust His Plan. It really is otherworldly. I’m seeing our Lord Jesus Christ in every covenant, every single aspect of temple worship. …but not only that, I’m discovering His beautiful, perfect, merciful heart. ❤️☀️ …now I run to the temple! And when I leave, I’m walking 3 feet off the ground, feeling strengthened and cherished by my God.

Gods church will always have a temple. It’s like the embassy of God away from the world. I first heard that from David Alexander. I agree! An embassy of God in this earth to help us be on the covenant path in the unity of faith.
David, you have a gift of recognizing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for sharing that gift. I admire your heartfelt and humble search for learning and truth which is apparent in each of your videos. I love learning from your insights. I have followed my own path of discovery which has led me to receive a firm spiritual witness that The Book of Mormon is, in fact, the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ (similar to the New Testament). Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ did appear to Joseph Smith and called him to restore Christ's church, in its fulness, upon the Earth. With it, God's priesthood has also been restored and living prophets continue to teach and guide His children today. The covenants and ordinances you spoke of in this video are a key component of those teachings. As you come to an understanding of those ordinances and covenants, your understanding of God's immense grace and love for all of His children will grow. It is a beautiful plan of salvation and happiness prepared by Heavenly Father and fulfilled by and through the atonement of Jesus Christ to bless and save ALL of His children. I know God is guiding you by His Spirit through this journey and that your willingness to share with sincerity will bless many people.
Planting seeds is not only an act of faith, but the gathering and eating of the fruits are synonymous of gathering knowledge, strength and becoming tied to the land by putting down roots and creating a family. On the other hand we become more tied to God through the plan of happiness which comes from nurturing feeding and loving our families. 😇♥️
I think “growth” was a great insight. The temple ceremonies symbolize our journey and “growth” from our pre-mortal life through our life on earth, and our eventual return to God’s presence through the atonement of Jesus Christ. The tree of life can symbolize immortality, eternal life, the love of God, the atonement of Jesus Christ, and the presence of God. The symbolic gestures and elements of the temple ceremonies are not to be taken literally, they are symbolic and are meant for us to ponder what is the underlying meaning of the symbolism, what we can learn from it, and to point our thoughts and hearts to Jesus Christ and His atonement for us.
I have had the humble blessing of attending the temple to worship Our Savior Jesus Christ for many years. I have found the temple to bring the most cherished blessings into my life. I pray that your journey of faith continues and that the Lord continues to bless you with further light and knowledge. I love the spirit and tone that you bring to these messages. I grew up in Northern California, and the Oakland Temple sits on the hillside and it is lit up at night it’s breathtaking. I’ve heard it said that on the foggy nights, the temple glow can be seen by pilots flying overhead. If you ever get to see it at night, it’s glorious!
Years ago, the city tried to force the church to turn off the lights because it was *too* bright... or they wanted to reduce light pollution... or something like that. The FAA actually intervened and said that the pilots had been actively using the Oakland temple as a marker on their flights! How cool is that!
My husband served in the California Oakland Mission and heard that about the boats depending on the lights and requesting them to be turned back on. We actually went there on our Honeymoon. ❤
It is such a breath of fresh air for someone to give an honest unbiased opinion. Your conference attendance video caught my attention a while back. Most of what I have seen in media growing up towards my beliefs has had a similar feel to those holding signs and shouting outside the conference center. I almost saw all of them and it was so very impressive to me, how open and fair you are to all of the churches, always searching for the good (and there are a lot of good in all of them). Today, I felt prompted to comment your video. Like you, I came from a protestant background but had questions that could not be answered. It's now more then 40 years ago, I met the missionaries of the church of Jesus Christ of LDS and my questions got answered one after another. When I see your eyes, telling about the temple, I can see this glimpse of light in your eyes and I remember my first time when I learned more and more about the church. It seemed like an endless new dimension of light, joy, truth and knowledge opened up to me, and the puzzle pieces slowly came together. You are on the way to find something very special and unique. Go on searching and asking the Lord to lead you home. He knows you. He loves you. He has a plan for you. It's so much ahead for you. Amazing, to hear, that your great grandfather was a member of the church. Perhaps he ist reaching out to you?
I'm soaking all his videos up! While I'm hearing him talk-- in my mind's eye I see him being married/sealed for time and all eternity to a beautiful woman, serving as such a righteous priesthood holder, and raising a family in the Gospel. Interesting that your grandfather joined the church just before he passed and now you're Interested and intrigued about the restored gospel. He might be inspiring you from the other side. I wish you well in your further research. I found this version of the gospel when I was a catholic teenager and haven't regretted it since and I'm 67 now. Answers all my questions on where we came from, why we're here, what's next and importantly to me, what's the rest of the universe for? We can't be the only planet with Heavenly Father's creations on it. What a waste of space and resources that would be. Thanks for your perspective and research. David, you are a breath of fresh air. Many others who try to explain our beliefs are not so kind, accurate, trustworthy and humble as you are. My faith journey started with being a split of Catholic and Calvinists. I investigated seven different Christian churches and studied world religions. The totality of the confusion pushed me towards agnosticism. Eventually, I ran into a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that person encouraged me to investigate. When I heard about living prophets, the Book of Mormon as another witness of Jesus Christ, Christ, visiting America, etc. the Spirit witness to me in such a powerful way that I could not deny the Church's restored doctrines being correct. I have had many many witnesses since then as well Many teachings of the Church make absolute sense. For example, all of the Christian churches that I'm aware of believe that life begins at physical birth. Since God is all powerful, all knowing, all wise, and if life really began at birth, then why didn't God create us all to be like Jesus? The only logical answer is a found in Ecclesiastes 12:7 where God says that when we die our body RETURNS to the earth and our spirit RETURNS to God. To RETURN to god, we had to live there once before. Jeremiah 1:5 talks about Jeremiah being foreordained, set apart and sanctified by God to be a prophet unto the nations. That also is only possible if Jeremiah was once before in the presence of God to have that ordination actually occur. There are other scriptures that likewise support pre-Earth life doctrine. There are other key doctrinal pieces that I could share, but this is enough for now. I have a great neighbors. I wish you could move in next door. You would be a such delight to have in our community. God bless you. ❤️
So glad you’ve been able to experience the temples. Your knowledge has grown so much from your first ward visit. Your head is trying to reconcile everything you’re learning with what the Spirit is telling you, too. I think you’re doing a phenomenal job at being open and not rejecting things, just because they’re not what you had traditionally been taught.
So interesting that your great-grandfather was a Latter-day Saint. As you know, the purposes of the temple are tied to the dead, especially our ancestors. It's almost like he's drawing you in. :)

The covenants we make in the temple: A covenant of obedience to keep the commandments, A Covenant of Sacrifice - Sacrificing our time and talents to lifting others, Covenant of the Gospel, this is a commitment to live the gospel of forgiveness, charity, and service. A covenant of chastity, to keep our minds and bodies clean from images and actions while staying faithful to our spouse, and a covenant of consecration, this is a covenant to dedicate our time and talents to building up Jesus Christ's Kingdom here on earth. Making and keeping these covenants binds us closer to The Savior, gives us peace, comfort, and power to have the spirit and go out into the world to do good. There are so many blessings in store for anyone who is willing and wanting to make and keep covenants with Our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. The Lords Temple represents a place to GROW, just as you have so eloquently described. Great video!

Your post was made on the same day as the St. George Temple being re-dedicated. That is a very special and sacred meeting where a dedicatory prayer is given. Then the Temple can be open for the ceremonies for ordinances and covenants. Looking forward to the video you have for that special Pioneer-era temple. I love your thought process and learning more about your own ancestry and faith. I love your term "growth" and then relating it with "fruits" and "trees" and "orchards". It all conveys so much of the purpose of the House of the Lord, and the progress we each make through our mortal journey. I think you might find as you ponder that there is quite a bit of scriptural foundation for these terms that help you had to describe your experiences so far (ie, The fruits of the spirit; Elijah the prophet turning the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; know them by their fruits; the Lord's vineyard; and so on). I love your updates and how respectful you are. Not only in your posts but also in your desire to learn more and give the respect of time and attention to what you will share.

When I read the title of the video, I immediately thought... What bad thing is he going to say about the Church or our religious beliefs? The internet is full of lies and misunderstandings of the Church and especially of the pure gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the Church since 2007 and I can say: I have just grown spiritually in every way. I know I have a lot more to ponder and research about all of these things. I'm Brazilian and I'm the first convert in my family, I thought that only the living members were my family. When I entered and experienced the sacred ceremonies of the temple, I realized that my understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ was very limited in my ignorance. Well, in any case, continue with your research, you really managed to express very well how we feel about God and his house.

You'll notice in the sealing room of each temple there are large mirrors positioned across the room and directly opposite from each other. In some of the smaller temples they are also in the celestial room. If we look into the mirrors we can see in front and beyond this for eternity because the reflections bounce off each other. These mirrors represent the vast expanse of eternity and are there to remind us that the ordinances performed in that room do not end in death but continue throughout all eternity.

The Celestial room is the only place on earth where the cares and influence of the outside world does not/ or should not exist. Therefore giving you a clearer understanding of the heavenly things.
This has probably already been mentioned, but the brides wear a white dress when they are sealed, but it is very simple. It is the same dress one wears in temple ceremonies. After the sealing they wear their more elaborate traditional wedding dress outside the temple where they take pictures.
David, you are absolutely right about the Church incorporating a “unique personalized theme based off the town or area.” The Laie, Hawaii temple is constructed out of the local coral. Like other LDS temples, absolutely stunning!
What a cool video, dude. I'm happy to see you set your introverted side aside this go around and took on the full experience. I think most of us may have thought on your visit to Bentonville, that they just rushed you through because tours were closing up and so you had to self-guide yourself, which seemed out of character for something like that, so it's good you got the full experience. Speaking of your Bentonville tour, I keep remembering the Cardinals you talked about during that visit. Never forget the Cardinals. It's interesting you focused so much on TREES in this video. So, far as I know, it's not Church doctrine anywhere, but there's a rising belief now that the tree is very significant and symbolic of something that was lost millennia ago during the time of King Josiah in the Old Testament where people had taken the idea of GODS to an apostate level and we're creating God's, just as they did after Moses ascending the Mount to receive the Ten Commandments. King Josiah, who was a political figure and not a prophet, was trying to return the people's focus to the Commandment that there's only one God that you should worship. The issue is, there became such a fanaticism with monotheism that somehow that knowledge faded. In the Hebrew Bible, Elohim immediately mentioned, which means "Head of the Gods." Elohim also speaks to another God, Jehovah, and says "Let us make man in OUR own image" but that only explains man for MALES, what of FEMALES? Who is God talking to if there's only one? Well, there was a female there, a Heavenly Mother with Elohim, by her man, assisting in his decisions of the process, and helping with those decisions. Jehovah says upon completion of everything "It is good" with the exception of one, a law of heaven "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make for him a helpmeet" and then it was good. He created women after the likeness of the Gods (female). So, as we look at the tree more and more, it's considered...... taboo or unclean to speak of and creates an uncomfortable conversation for members but, trees provide fruit that sustain life. There is a rising belief that the tree is very symbolic of our Heavenly Mother, and that women give life sustaining nourishment that helped us grow from infancy and kept us alive. So too does the tree. It's believed our Heavenly Father used the tree of life to symbolize the other Godly figure in our lives we don't really ever talk about, simply because we flat out have and continue to reject it and why would go want what he holds so dear to him disrespected like that. Is it not any surprise how woman are held in such respect and high regard in many cultures in the world? Also, as Jesus said "If ye have seen the Father, ye have seen me", Jesus was born in the similitude of his Father. Now, nobody is implying Godliness here, but it's believed Mary was in the similitude of her Mother, that she carried the image and likeness of our Heavenly Mother. Just interesting your biggest take away was the importance and how much the tree stood out to you. Also, the relationship after partaking of the fruit, wasn't severed, oh no, sir, it flourished. Man could now know good from evil, it was all part of the plan. It wasn't really a sin of commission, but of omission. We had to be separated from God in order for this test to be successful, we had to learn on our own to develop faith, and learn and choose right from wrong and learn to depend on God. "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy." -2 Nephi 2:25. Adam and Eve weren't multiplying and replenishing the earth in the Garden of Eden, they couldnt. Eve recognized and knew that they couldn't do that until they ate the fruit that allowed them to fulfill God's plan, they were ignorant, they didn't know happiness or sadness, they had to know sadness to understand happiness. Finally, you had a lot of impressions and you went through the temple, even undedicated, it's just a building, but you got a taste of what it's purpose is, revelation. You get that while you're there and then when you leave you further ponder and study that out. Oddly enough, that's how God seems to communicate best is through symbolism, because one thing can teach an infinite number of lessons depending on where we're at in life or the questions we have, that bit of symbolism can speak to us in different ways and as we learn more about that, we learn new lessons as well. It's pretty wild. As you read through the Book of Exodus, you read how Moses is instructed to build the Tabernacle and even the Tabernacle vestment for him and for Aaron and the sons of Aaron, the priests, all the symbolism in the manner and materials that are used to construct it. In the usual protestant meeting house, there's the cross, that's usually about it. A Catholic Cathedral has a lot of images and symbolism in some, but the Tabernacle and this the temple built first by Solomon had an abundance of symbolism because that's how God works, in everything he's ever done, even our Pre-Existence is filled with symbolism. The Book of Mormon is filled with symbolism in ways Joseph Smith could have never come up with, especially in the 90 days he translated it that we'd still be learning things today. Those cardinals you saw in Bentonville, symbolism, to you they were symbolic communicating to you in a way only you would understand, personal, to you. With regards to Exodus, the Tabernacle was bronze on the outside and as you got closer to God, if was gold. The Idaho Falls, Idaho temple is shaped like a cake kind of build. The temple wraps around the Celestial Room and when you are in the Celestial Room, you're right under the spire that points to the heavens symbolizing your individual prayers in God's presence asscending directly upward to him directly. Happy to see it was a better experience this time, but, we learn more as we're ready to receive more and you were ready to receive more.
Yes the brides get to wear their white wedding dress but also wear the few pieces of ceremonial temple clothing with it. However, a white wedding dress is an American or western custom. I’m not sure what they do in Asian countries or other cultures where they have different traditional wedding clothes. I’m guessing they probably wear their white temple dress since that’s what we wear inside the temple and then change into their cultural traditional wedding clothing afterwards. 🤷♀️
I also had the opportunity to be in Utah and attend the open house of the Orem Temple. The stain glass windows in the baptistry with the ducks and cattails was stunning. Then to see the progression of growth with the cherry trees is amazing. When I was growing up un Utah Country, Orem had many cherry orchards. Growth is a good word in describing not only the church, but how our own life can be. How nice to have a tour guide to help you better understand the temple. Yes, Jesus Christ is the PEARL....yet sometimes we focus on the box.

As a former Catholic, I loved my first, temple trip. Washington, DC Temple is gorgeous. As a child, I thought the cafeteria was very neat. ❤️ My father felt a "tingly feeling" in the Houston, Texas Temple Open House 🏡. My father is not LDS and is not a religious person, generally.
Every Celestial room has a center with all the surrounding chairs pointing to it, with a chandelier above a table which is a representation of Jesus Christ being at the center of our worship.

I really enjoyed it! My nearest temple is smaller, I thought it was interesting how the Orem temple has the different stories (levels) with cherry blossoms at different stages of growth. Growth is a great word to summarize, for me going to the temple is about growing spiritually closer to God, to my own family, and even the rest of the human family.
I am curious, have you looked into the difference between Protestant and Latter-day saint views on the Tree of knowledge of good and evil? I believe they are quite different.
The Book of Mormon teaches "Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Adam and Eve partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is described as a transgression, and also, a necessary step so that mankind could "be," come to Earth and learn and grow through good and bad experiences. (It's hard to learn if you can't make mistakes!) After been redeemed from the resulting sin through Jesus Christ, and choosing to participate in ordinances of His church, we believe we can gain access to the Tree of Life as we use our agency to choose good over evil.

We are evangelical (my husband is a pastor here in Utah County) but we just toured the Orem Temple last week, and Mark and Monica were also our tour guides! They were super sweet and taught us many of the same things you mentioned here. This was my first time inside a temple and it was indeed very beautiful, and very educational.

One of those original Norwegian Immigrants to first settle Orem was my great great grandfather. They joined the church after hearing from the missionaries and reading the Book of Mormon and left everything to come to Utah to be with the saints. David I loved you mentioned the bridal room. I live in Los Angeles and my daugther was living in Utah when she was plannig to get married in the Salt Lake City temple. And because I couldn't miss many days in my new job, I missed all the wedding preparations. Everything was done without my help, opinion or ideas. i was stroggling with money and I was sad that I was not able to travel to help or participate in the small details. I felt out, not included at all. I was able to traveled one day before the ceremony. I was a convert and I have never been in a sealing ceremony before. The brides go to the temple in regular cloths and they change in the bridal room. I thought "oh no I will be out again" . To my surprise the temple assistant asked for the mother of the bride to help with the dressing. Only mother and daughter!!!! I was so happy, I enjoyed every minute with my only daughter in the bridal room. Maybe for someone this sound silly, but for me was a lot because I am one of many mothers that must work to help with the family economy. Unfortunatelly we missed a lot of important events at school or other activities, We appreciate the small things with our children.
@mariatrejo1248 - I'm glad you got to share that special time in the bride's room with your daughter. I too have an only daughter. She was sealed in the Manti Temple and it was just her and I in the bride's room. It was especially meaningful to me to be able to be with her in that special place because I had been inactive for many years and had worked hard to be able to go to the Temple with her. The bridal room was a very special bonding time to talk with her and assist with dressing. I loved not being rushed. Just as we were leaving, another mom and daughter came in. I hope they got the room all to themselves just as my daughter and I did.

Thank you both for sharing this. It made me reflect upon my own experience in the temple when I was preparing to be sealed to my husband. I made the very difficult decision to not have my earthly mother present for the sealing due to a long history of abuse, but weeks before the ceremony, in a completely different temple, I had a beautiful experience as I was pondering wedding plans in the celestial room. I won't go into specifics but it was such a touching and unforgettable reminder that, "Truth is reason; truth eternal tells me I've a Mother there". Thank you both & God bless.

That’s really cool that the word that came to you describing your temple visit was “growth“. That’s actually a main theme of the Orem Temple. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I heard that throughout the lower levels, there are many depictions of flower buds (Namely cherry blossoms, I believe). As you walk through the upper levels, the higher you get the more the buds are depicted as blossoming. In the celestial room, they are fully blossomed. So the word you chose to describe your experience fits perfectly!

As to wearing a wedding dress, a bride often does wear a simple white temple dress. I did. Anything worn in the Temple will be appropriate, somewhat simple. For many, the brides room is a beautiful place for a the bride to prepare. Spiritually and physically.

As I was listening to you share your insights, it became clear to me that has been my experience with the temple.
I have been attending the temple for 32 years. For the vast majority of that time I have attended not understanding the symbolism and covenants, but trusting the promises our dear prophet has given if we attend often. I’ve needed those blessings so I began this past year attending as often as my schedule would permit.
Often kneeling before I go, telling the Lord, “I choose you. No matter if I understand all the symbolism or things taking place. I want You to be my God. I want my life to reflect that He is the most important thing to me, and attending His holy house will show my heart.”
This past year, finally miracles are unfolding and His love signs are being poured into my life like I never dreamed.
Growth… yes, growth as we exercise faith in Christ and trust His Plan. It really is otherworldly. I’m seeing our Lord Jesus Christ in every covenant, every single aspect of temple worship.
…but not only that, I’m discovering His beautiful, perfect, merciful heart. ❤️☀️
…now I run to the temple! And when I leave, I’m walking 3 feet off the ground, feeling strengthened and cherished by my God.

Gods church will always have a temple. It’s like the embassy of God away from the world. I first heard that from David Alexander. I agree! An embassy of God in this earth to help us be on the covenant path in the unity of faith.

I admire your heartfelt and humble search for learning and truth which is apparent in each of your videos. I love learning from your insights. I have followed my own path of discovery which has led me to receive a firm spiritual witness that The Book of Mormon is, in fact, the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ (similar to the New Testament). Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ did appear to Joseph Smith and called him to restore Christ's church, in its fulness, upon the Earth. With it, God's priesthood has also been restored and living prophets continue to teach and guide His children today. The covenants and ordinances you spoke of in this video are a key component of those teachings. As you come to an understanding of those ordinances and covenants, your understanding of God's immense grace and love for all of His children will grow. It is a beautiful plan of salvation and happiness prepared by Heavenly Father and fulfilled by and through the atonement of Jesus Christ to bless and save ALL of His children. I know God is guiding you by His Spirit through this journey and that your willingness to share with sincerity will bless many people.

Planting seeds is not only an act of faith, but the gathering and eating of the fruits are synonymous of gathering knowledge, strength and becoming tied to the land by putting down roots and creating a family. On the other hand we become more tied to God through the plan of happiness which comes from nurturing feeding and loving our families. 😇♥️

I think “growth” was a great insight. The temple ceremonies symbolize our journey and “growth” from our pre-mortal life through our life on earth, and our eventual return to God’s presence through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
The tree of life can symbolize immortality, eternal life, the love of God, the atonement of Jesus Christ, and the presence of God.
The symbolic gestures and elements of the temple ceremonies are not to be taken literally, they are symbolic and are meant for us to ponder what is the underlying meaning of the symbolism, what we can learn from it, and to point our thoughts and hearts to Jesus Christ and His atonement for us.
You can count the seeds in an apple, but you can’t count the apples in a seed.
I have had the humble blessing of attending the temple to worship Our Savior Jesus Christ for many years. I have found the temple to bring the most cherished blessings into my life. I grew up in Northern California, and the Oakland Temple sits on the hillside and it is lit up at night it’s breathtaking. I’ve heard it said that on the foggy nights, the temple glow can be seen by pilots flying overhead.
If you ever get to see it at night, it’s glorious!
Years ago, the city tried to force the church to turn off the lights because it was *too* bright... or they wanted to reduce light pollution... or something like that. The FAA actually intervened and said that the pilots had been actively using the Oakland temple as a marker on their flights! How cool is that!

My husband served in the California Oakland Mission and heard that about the boats depending on the lights and requesting them to be turned back on. We actually went there on our Honeymoon. ❤

Today, I felt prompted to comment your video.
Like you, I came from a protestant background but had questions that could not be answered. It's now more then 40 years ago, I met the missionaries of the church of Jesus Christ of LDS and my questions got answered one after another. When I see your eyes, telling about the temple, I can see this glimpse of light in your eyes and I remember my first time when I learned more and more about the church. It seemed like an endless new dimension of light, joy, truth and knowledge opened up to me, and the puzzle pieces slowly came together. You are on the way to find something very special and unique. Go on searching and asking the Lord to lead you home. He knows you. He loves you. He has a plan for you. It's so much ahead for you. Amazing, to hear, that your great grandfather was a member of the church. Perhaps he ist reaching out to you?
I'm soaking all his videos up! While I'm hearing him talk-- in my mind's eye I see him being married/sealed for time and all eternity to a beautiful woman, serving as such a righteous priesthood holder, and raising a family in the Gospel. Interesting that your grandfather joined the church just before he passed and now you're Interested and intrigued about the restored gospel. He might be inspiring you from the other side. I wish you well in your further research. I found this version of the gospel when I was a catholic teenager and haven't regretted it since and I'm 67 now. Answers all my questions on where we came from, why we're here, what's next and importantly to me, what's the rest of the universe for? David, you are a breath of fresh air. Many others who try to explain our beliefs are not so kind, accurate, trustworthy and humble as you are.
My faith journey started with being a split of Catholic and Calvinists. I investigated seven different Christian churches and studied world religions. The totality of the confusion pushed me towards agnosticism. Eventually, I ran into a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that person encouraged me to investigate. When I heard about living prophets, the Book of Mormon as another witness of Jesus Christ, Christ, visiting America, etc. the Spirit witness to me in such a powerful way that I could not deny the Church's restored doctrines being correct. I have had many many witnesses since then as well
Many teachings of the Church make absolute sense. For example, all of the Christian churches that I'm aware of believe that life begins at physical birth. Since God is all powerful, all knowing, all wise, and if life really began at birth, then why didn't God create us all to be like Jesus? The only logical answer is a found in Ecclesiastes 12:7 where God says that when we die our body RETURNS to the earth and our spirit RETURNS to God. To RETURN to god, we had to live there once before. Jeremiah 1:5 talks about Jeremiah being foreordained, set apart and sanctified by God to be a prophet unto the nations. That also is only possible if Jeremiah was once before in the presence of God to have that ordination actually occur. There are other scriptures that likewise support pre-Earth life doctrine.
There are other key doctrinal pieces that I could share, but this is enough for now.

Your head is trying to reconcile everything you’re learning with what the Spirit is telling you, too. I think you’re doing a phenomenal job at being open and not rejecting things, just because they’re not what you had traditionally been taught.

The covenants we make in the temple: A covenant of obedience to keep the commandments, A Covenant of Sacrifice - Sacrificing our time and talents to lifting others, Covenant of the Gospel, this is a commitment to live the gospel of forgiveness, charity, and service. A covenant of chastity, to keep our minds and bodies clean from images and actions while staying faithful to our spouse, and a covenant of consecration, this is a covenant to dedicate our time and talents to building up Jesus Christ's Kingdom here on earth. Making and keeping these covenants binds us closer to The Savior, gives us peace, comfort, and power to have the spirit and go out into the world to do good. There are so many blessings in store for anyone who is willing and wanting to make and keep covenants with Our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. The Lords Temple represents a place to GROW, just as you have so eloquently described. Great video!

Your post was made on the same day as the St. George Temple being re-dedicated. That is a very special and sacred meeting where a dedicatory prayer is given. Then the Temple can be open for the ceremonies for ordinances and covenants. Looking forward to the video you have for that special Pioneer-era temple. I love your thought process and learning more about your own ancestry and faith. I love your term "growth" and then relating it with "fruits" and "trees" and "orchards". It all conveys so much of the purpose of the House of the Lord, and the progress we each make through our mortal journey. I think you might find as you ponder that there is quite a bit of scriptural foundation for these terms that help you had to describe your experiences so far (ie, The fruits of the spirit; Elijah the prophet turning the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; know them by their fruits; the Lord's vineyard; and so on). I love your updates and how respectful you are. Not only in your posts but also in your desire to learn more and give the respect of time and attention to what you will share.

Loved you "fruit-basket" analogy from the ushers in the Orem Temple! The "full basket" of fruit from the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a wonder!
When I read the title of the video, I immediately thought... What bad thing is he going to say about the Church or our religious beliefs? The internet is full of lies and misunderstandings of the Church and especially of the pure gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the Church since 2007 and I can say: I have just grown spiritually in every way. I know I have a lot more to ponder and research about all of these things. I'm Brazilian and I'm the first convert in my family, I thought that only the living members were my family. When I entered and experienced the sacred ceremonies of the temple, I realized that my understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ was very limited in my ignorance. Well, in any case, continue with your research, you really managed to express very well how we feel about God and his house.
Also Read in the Book of Mormon...2 Nephi 15, Jacob 5, and Alma 32....about growth, vineyards, faith, and scattered/gathered Israel.

You'll notice in the sealing room of each temple there are large mirrors positioned across the room and directly opposite from each other. In some of the smaller temples they are also in the celestial room. If we look into the mirrors we can see in front and beyond this for eternity because the reflections bounce off each other. These mirrors represent the vast expanse of eternity and are there to remind us that the ordinances performed in that room do not end in death but continue throughout all eternity.

My ancestor Jesse Wentworth Crosby lived in St George. Look for his cannon on the St George temple grounds.
This has probably already been mentioned, but the brides wear a white dress when they are sealed, but it is very simple. It is the same dress one wears in temple ceremonies. After the sealing they wear their more elaborate traditional wedding dress outside the temple where they take pictures.
Brides can wear a real wedding dress for their sealing. It just has to cover them the same as a temple dress does.

David, you are absolutely right about the Church incorporating a “unique personalized theme based off the town or area.” The Laie, Hawaii temple is constructed out of the local coral. Like other LDS temples, absolutely stunning!

What a cool video, dude. I'm happy to see you set your introverted side aside this go around and took on the full experience. I think most of us may have thought on your visit to Bentonville, that they just rushed you through because tours were closing up and so you had to self-guide yourself, which seemed out of character for something like that, so it's good you got the full experience.
Speaking of your Bentonville tour, I keep remembering the Cardinals you talked about during that visit. Never forget the Cardinals.
It's interesting you focused so much on TREES in this video. So, far as I know, it's not Church doctrine anywhere, but there's a rising belief now that the tree is very significant and symbolic of something that was lost millennia ago during the time of King Josiah in the Old Testament where people had taken the idea of GODS to an apostate level and we're creating God's, just as they did after Moses ascending the Mount to receive the Ten Commandments. King Josiah, who was a political figure and not a prophet, was trying to return the people's focus to the Commandment that there's only one God that you should worship. The issue is, there became such a fanaticism with monotheism that somehow that knowledge faded. In the Hebrew Bible, Elohim immediately mentioned, which means "Head of the Gods." Elohim also speaks to another God, Jehovah, and says "Let us make man in OUR own image" but that only explains man for MALES, what of FEMALES? Who is God talking to if there's only one? Well, there was a female there, a Heavenly Mother with Elohim, by her man, assisting in his decisions of the process, and helping with those decisions. Jehovah says upon completion of everything "It is good" with the exception of one, a law of heaven "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make for him a helpmeet" and then it was good. He created women after the likeness of the Gods (female). So, as we look at the tree more and more, it's considered...... taboo or unclean to speak of and creates an uncomfortable conversation for members but, trees provide fruit that sustain life. There is a rising belief that the tree is very symbolic of our Heavenly Mother, and that women give life sustaining nourishment that helped us grow from infancy and kept us alive. So too does the tree. It's believed our Heavenly Father used the tree of life to symbolize the other Godly figure in our lives we don't really ever talk about, simply because we flat out have and continue to reject it and why would go want what he holds so dear to him disrespected like that. Is it not any surprise how woman are held in such respect and high regard in many cultures in the world? Also, as Jesus said "If ye have seen the Father, ye have seen me", Jesus was born in the similitude of his Father. Now, nobody is implying Godliness here, but it's believed Mary was in the similitude of her Mother, that she carried the image and likeness of our Heavenly Mother.
Just interesting your biggest take away was the importance and how much the tree stood out to you.
Also, the relationship after partaking of the fruit, wasn't severed, oh no, sir, it flourished. Man could now know good from evil, it was all part of the plan. It wasn't really a sin of commission, but of omission. We had to be separated from God in order for this test to be successful, we had to learn on our own to develop faith, and learn and choose right from wrong and learn to depend on God. "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy." -2 Nephi 2:25. Adam and Eve weren't multiplying and replenishing the earth in the Garden of Eden, they couldnt. Eve recognized and knew that they couldn't do that until they ate the fruit that allowed them to fulfill God's plan, they were ignorant, they didn't know happiness or sadness, they had to know sadness to understand happiness.
Finally, you had a lot of impressions and you went through the temple, even undedicated, it's just a building, but you got a taste of what it's purpose is, revelation. You get that while you're there and then when you leave you further ponder and study that out. Oddly enough, that's how God seems to communicate best is through symbolism, because one thing can teach an infinite number of lessons depending on where we're at in life or the questions we have, that bit of symbolism can speak to us in different ways and as we learn more about that, we learn new lessons as well. It's pretty wild. As you read through the Book of Exodus, you read how Moses is instructed to build the Tabernacle and even the Tabernacle vestment for him and for Aaron and the sons of Aaron, the priests, all the symbolism in the manner and materials that are used to construct it. In the usual protestant meeting house, there's the cross, that's usually about it. A Catholic Cathedral has a lot of images and symbolism in some, but the Tabernacle and this the temple built first by Solomon had an abundance of symbolism because that's how God works, in everything he's ever done, even our Pre-Existence is filled with symbolism. The Book of Mormon is filled with symbolism in ways Joseph Smith could have never come up with, especially in the 90 days he translated it that we'd still be learning things today. Those cardinals you saw in Bentonville, symbolism, to you they were symbolic communicating to you in a way only you would understand, personal, to you.
With regards to Exodus, the Tabernacle was bronze on the outside and as you got closer to God, if was gold. The Idaho Falls, Idaho temple is shaped like a cake kind of build. The temple wraps around the Celestial Room and when you are in the Celestial Room, you're right under the spire that points to the heavens symbolizing your individual prayers in God's presence asscending directly upward to him directly.
Happy to see it was a better experience this time, but, we learn more as we're ready to receive more and you were ready to receive more.
Yes the brides get to wear their white wedding dress but also wear the few pieces of ceremonial temple clothing with it. However, a white wedding dress is an American or western custom. I’m not sure what they do in Asian countries or other cultures where they have different traditional wedding clothes. I’m guessing they probably wear their white temple dress since that’s what we wear inside the temple and then change into their cultural traditional wedding clothing afterwards. 🤷♀️

I also had the opportunity to be in Utah and attend the open house of the Orem Temple. The stain glass windows in the baptistry with the ducks and cattails was stunning. Then to see the progression of growth with the cherry trees is amazing. When I was growing up un Utah Country, Orem had many cherry orchards. Growth is a good word in describing not only the church, but how our own life can be.
How nice to have a tour guide to help you better understand the temple. Yes, Jesus Christ is the PEARL....yet sometimes we focus on the box.

As a former Catholic, I loved my first, temple trip. Washington, DC Temple is gorgeous. As a child, I thought the cafeteria was very neat. ❤️ My father felt a "tingly feeling" in the Houston, Texas Temple Open House 🏡. My father is not LDS and is not a religious person, generally.
Every Celestial room has a center with all the surrounding chairs pointing to it, with a chandelier above a table which is a representation of Jesus Christ being at the center of our worship.
