Season 1 was a wonderful experience. And you are right, if able keep the same group...was so much fun to watch everyone enjoy the entire game.

Absolutely loved all three seasons! Loved the changes of gameplay in 2 and 0. I really want to play season 0 again but will definitely have to play with someone else and let them make all the major decisions :P

The Legacy system seems like it would be good to apply to Pandemic Reign of Cthulhu, which is a Pandemic version I really enjoy.

@@TabletopTolson I’m not familiar with that one but I’m very new to these games! I’m playing Pandemic Legacy season 2 with an old friend at the moment who’s quite experienced with these types of game. I haven’t played a board game for about 25 years (apart from monopoly and trivial pursuit at Christmas)! We’ve just lost our first game (March) and my player got scarred which was upsetting!!!

Thanks for the video - Firstly top job on the role play charectors! Made me a smile!
I have a question you maybe able to answer for me?
I've watched and seen many reviews of all the Pandemic expansions, editions and Legacy's. However I only have the main base game and bought it for my daughter (at 16) now 18.
We enjoy it a lot when we can play at xmas etc, although we've got pretty good at the base game and tactics and mostly beat the game.
I've been hesitant over buying Legacy games (although all seem great games but the cost for a one use series has put me off a bit until now, and of course the costs). But I think we like the Legacy's more than the expansions or editions.
But my question to you if you wouldn't mind lending an opinion, is do you think all Legacy Season's 1, 2 & 0 - play just as fun in a partnership of just 2 players?
( I know you said you played in a group 4). I've heard many good things about the experiences and enjoyment of the lagacy games but not heard of how each legacy series would be for 2 players? Although they do all state 2-4 players.
Thanks and have a Merry Christmas & Gaming.

I imagine it would be a very different experience (variety of characters and choice in addition to the dynamic of just going back and forth), but no less good than in a four-player game. However, it would be unique and interesting to play Pandemic with just 2. I played the latest Pandemic: Lich King (World of Warcraft) with 3 and it was just fine. We had a great time with one fewer player than I'm used to. Ultimately, though, I've not played any of the Legacy Pandemics with just 2.

I have never played a legacy game. I also know how much so many people LIKE Pandemic games. However ... I purchased Pandemic 10th Anniversary but never played it. Purchased Pandemic: Hot Zone North America and we have played it multiple times maybe winning a bit less than half the time. We find it quite difficult to win but very interesting to play. We have never played with the CRISIS cards in the game (we want to actually win a few in a row first). That said ... my main question: when you say you played the game 18 times ... does that mean there were 18 different scenarios that you played through in game? Or did you start at the very beginning 18 times? And how do you play a game where you rip up cards and sticker the map a second time? I am trying to figure this Pandemic world out ... and maybe the Legacy bit is confusing me?

    • @TabletopTolson
      @TabletopTolson  Před 3 lety +1

Great questions, @Len Lindsay. When you play a Pandemic Legacy game, you play similar scenarios from session to session, but in each game you play to win different goals, which the game will reveal in increments. When we played 18 games in Season 1, we attempted to play each monthly scenario (Pandemic Legacy works on a 12-month calendar schedule) and succeed the first time. When you fail, you play that scenario again with more help and maybe with a slightly adjusted goal. If you succeed, you move onto the next month/scenario. That means that when you place stickers, write on things, and tear cards, you are consuming the game and thus you cannot play that copy of your Pandemic Legacy again. It's a one-time experience that is strongly rooted in story and theme that I think is a great way to play Pandemic.

@@TabletopTolson Hi again. Do we need to get "good at" playing Pandemic before we start the Legacy 1 game? Example: if we have a hard time with the "easy" Hot Zone edition, do we need to learn or figure out strategies first before we start playing Legacy 1? Thanks for all the work you do for us Kim! ==Len

@@LenLindsay I think you can jump right into Legacy. The game flexes with your wins and losses making small adjustments from game to game depending on how easily you won or how hard you lost!

I like plain Pandemic and have played it and several of the spin-offs a good bit, but the only legacy one I played was season 2. We should have quit halfway through but I think we all thought the others were enjoying it so we all pressed on. It was so much time wasted on not having fun. It was perhaps the worst gaming experience I have ever had. It turned me off on trying any other legacy game and even turned me off on playing regular Pandemic again.

I'm sorry to hear your experience with Season 2 wasn't great. I definitely have had less positive experiences with legacy games, too. Hopefully, I'll get My Top 5 Legacy Games video out soon and you'll see a recommendation there that looks good:)

I played Season 1 and it was one of the best gaming experiences for my group. I played Season 2 with the same group and we hated it. We ended up just fast forwarding past the last couple months as we were ready to quit playing it entirely. So please don't let Season 2 cause you to not play the original. I haven't played Season 0 yet so I can't comment on it.

My wife and I are huge plain pandemic (and rising tide) fans and felt S1 was the most epic experience ever. It blew our minds. We have not yet played 0 or 2 as I know they just won’t live up to that experience. (I still may eventually get them.)
It is highly likely you will love S1.

I was looking forward to buy season "0" in the future, because i love pandemic and i have other variations of the game, but the political agenda tied to a boardgame killed it for me.
Once again its the typical Good heroic Americans saving the world against the evil demonic Russians, and im so tired if that. When i saw the cold war theme i thought it was just that: "the theme", not sugar coated Americans Saving the world against Russian Demons.
Im European, and those political agendas masked as boardgames hit us hard.
    Anyway, nice review
