- Here are 5 religious arguments that just never work on atheists:
1. “You say you don’t believe in God cause you want to sin!”
To an atheist, that’s like saying that not believing the police exist frees you up to do crime - it doesn’t and that’s not why atheists don’t believe in God.
2. “If you’re wrong you’ll burn in Hell!”
The majority of atheists find Pascal’s Wager to be incredibly flawed for many reasons, including that it’s not honest to believe just out of self-preservation.
3. “The Universe couldn’t have just come out of nowhere.”
To an atheist, if a god can exist without being created, so can the universe.
4. “The Bible/Quran/Torah/Sūtras say it's true!”
This is just circular logic to an atheist. Who says the holy books are true?
5. “Your morals come from religion whether you believe in it or not!”
Most atheists would say that their morals come from their empathy and from society’s ethics and the latter evolve constantly.

@chineduibeh9203 The human brain is amazing. Humans have lots of fantasy. As an atheist, I'd say you believing that u've witnessed higher power is part of it. I'm not making fun of it, just saying what is logical to me. It makes sense that there are many ppl who say that they feel God, because humans can imagine lots of stuff. They can change their feelings just by actively thinking things. Religion is based on feelings I'd say.
@chineduibeh9203 Evolution is my answer. We weren't build like a house or made like a trash can, instead we came to be naturally, like water and dirt. Ants weren't just there as ants from the start and our ancestors up to some point didn't have brains and bones either. We evolved together with the planet we live on today, and I feel that us all evolving together into the ecosystem we are today; animals - plants - the planet, is such a pretty image, compared to us being put together like Ikea furniture :D
In my eyes, humans aren't a planned thing that was put together, instead they are something that didn't have to happen, but yet it did.
Religious people might enjoy believing that they were specially created by a god, because they feel like an important and amazing being because of it, but not having been created by a god doesn't make us any less important. Since what one deems as important and amazing is subjective and entirely up to oneself. As an atheist, I'm happy not having been created by a being, and instead being here cause of evolution. I'm important to myself, have things important to me and have my own set of morals, believing in a god isn't useful for me and I don't require it to keep me or others around me happy.

But the last one..... Why disregard the BASES that we founded our societal morals upon. Sure it "evolves" over time doesn't change where it started. I believe we are taught empathy and some people are incapable of being taught empathy. It's why kids hit kids for seemingly no reason sometimes or bite or etc ...

@@Reignor99 growing from it isn't abandoning it altogether because we couldn't figure it out or THINK we found evidence of the contrary which could be false mind you and couldn't God theoretically not be found if not wanting to be found by the masses? What if he doesn't want us to try to kill him again. Have you ever thought how it feels to have EVERYTHING you create and love turn against you because they think they are better than you and can do things better than you. Then we force their hand in retaliation and everyone claims they are the bad guy for creation in the first place and now he's probably all alone somewhere only around thuggish angels that are on sight with any other angels. He don't want us as a whole to find him yet because like nimrod we would try to kill him and that never works out for anyone that tries.
This leads to annihilation. Everything that turned on him ceases to exist. No heaven no eternal torment. A second death. A death after death could only mean nonexistence and that is truly just action for those who disrespect creation.
We started before civilization and we started as spiritual tribal people we just haven't figured out that the 'tribe' is the entire population and we don't really need elected leaders or borders or the concept of countries or any of that. We should be willing to give our EXCESS to the next person but we abandoned all that part of religious philosophy for pursuit of more profit and division amongst people. The God I worship isn't demanding I do anything he actually specifically commands me to not do 10 things and I think that's fine.
Do you know the commandments of God? I follow little life rules like no shellfish and pork (I love both so it's like a sacrifice I'm making for something I felt bad for not believing in for so long)

Not really, many Christian’s I know including me don’t use these arguments because they are flawed. We use historical evidence and scientific evidence, if that’s what atheists want.😅

I mean if everyone had no morals, we’d kill overselves. Look at dictators, emperors, kings, any rulers who believed themselves to be above morals and ethics. They killed a bunch of people to stay in power didn’t they? That’s their moral. They need to keep themselves in power at the cost of people’s life. Why do they believe killing is right, while everyone else are does not? Because we have something called empathy. I’m sure a few of those rulers also had some, but were repressed on the alcohol of control and power. That empathy comes from a word called sonder. A unconscious realization that they have a rich and complex life. When you take any situation for granted, you cannot realize that.
Can you forgot the bible and God and imagine yourself as a third party? A third party to not some discord or fight, but to life. Wolves are carnivores and have to kill to survive. And from killing, they maintain the delicate their ecosystem. If we condemned wolves and removed all of them, what would have? You can find out from learning about Yellowstone Park. And I’m sure you can realize how small of a matter murder really is. Anything really. Nothing really matters aside from what you as an individual care about, and most of what we care about were indoctrinated to us.
The biggest proof to me that we don’t get our morals from the bible is how morality changes from society to society. Anyone in the USA would probably say eating pets such as dogs and cats is morally wrong. While in some parts of Asia, they see absolutely nothing wrong. Meat is still meat at the end of the day. And are they wrong? There’s also the case of vegans who deem eating any animal at all is morally wrong. God and the bible does not touch on these topics, so where did their spontaneous claim to morality arise from?
A lot of people don’t realize how badly they’re telling on themselves with the “you just want to sin” and “your morals come from religion”. The reason I don’t kill people isn’t because of the commandments or because it’s illegal. It’s mainly because the idea of doing that to someone is deeply harrowing and disturbing. You could give me the green light from God and the police right now and I promise it’s still not happening. And most rational people would agree, or so I’d hope

Millions of years ago, the molecules of Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, Thymine, Uracil must have came together to form DNA &RNA which are the very basic elements from which all the life present on this planet stems from. Through the natural selection and evolution, the organisms evolved to become better and to suit the surroundings.
Well, not all animals are involved in sexual reproduction and neither are all the plants. As the structural and functional complexity of the organisms rose, they developed better characteristics which benefitted them, one of them being sexual reproduction.
Every person has different identity because they have different DNA and that's because all the 8billion people in this world don't have the same parents duh.
The blood flow and the mechanism of breathing also isn't found in plants and lower animals. This is because higher animals are kept above plants and lower animals like Porifera, Colenterates, Ctenophora, Platyhelminthes and Ascihelminthes who didn't have such elaborate mechanisms for breathing. They didn't have blood or any circulating fluid in their body in the first place.
The organisms soon learnt the benefits of having a circulating fluid and better respiration so they did evolve systems for it. What are you on? GANJA?

funny you mention it, I actually have been thinking about going to church, just to try it, as I can’t exactly say that I don’t believe in a religion if I’ve haven’t tried it first.

Hellenistic pagan here, here's how I view religion:
I will acknowledge the existence of all gods, whether it be God, Allah, Jesus, Zeus, Thor, Ra, etc. Whatever you believe in and put your faith into is completely okay and valid.
Now, as far as it goes with the gods, I like to believe that because they all exist, they cannot all guide you. See, a god that you may not even know exists shouldn't be able to help your punish you.
The only god(s) that should be able to guide you are the gods you put your faith into. If you choose not to believe in a god then that is completely and absolutely fine and you'll probably be reincarnated or something, I dont think anyone actually knows for sure.
Anyways, to sum this up, in my eyes, if you don't believe a specific god exists then they won't decide on where you end up. It wouldnt make much sense if a bunch of gods judging you and decided where you go when you die.

I remember one time I was at school (I go to a christian school for the education I'm not religious at all) and during this big assembly esque thing they said that atheists hate god and that atheism is flawed and all.
I had a full mental breakdown, and I would have to stay in the student support for quite a bit. I hated it so much.
As a Christian I am strongly apposed to these arguments as they hold no weight. Like their just statements with no explanation, they rely on strict faith, and no evidence. Shockingly, a lot of the time, people don't question or reason with their religion.

As a Christian it is wrong to force someone into our beleif sytsem. We are meant to warn and not inforce. We have free will. But Jesus was a real person, and he died for us, he had a crown of thorns on him, and was hurt on the cross. We dont just believe God is real for no reason. Christianity is the most and one of the only mocked religions possibly. Countless celebrities mock Jesus. Thats the difference from other religions. In other ones they mock the people, but with christianity they mock the Creator. Why target just us? Why bully someone that died for you? This is because this type of stuff will happen before Jesus’s return. A heavy increase in Evil, boastful, prideful, arrogant people before he comes back. They didnt mock him as much as they do nowadays. This mockery wouldnt slide in the early 1900s. So with all that being said, this is one of the main reasons I beleive Jesus is God, and that God is real. Because why are we like… the ONLY mocked religion?! Why is Jesus the first person people blaspheme. Ever thinknfo why “Oh My God” and “On God” or even “Jesus Christ” are used after something fustrates us? I was raised semi christian, went a church a few times when i was little, nobody got me into god or religion much and i got addicted to video games at lile age 10 so i didnt have an amazing social life which turned into many issues im working on now.. as i grew up i started thinking more and more about the real begginning to everything. The more i look the more i dont even know. Theres great arguements on both sides. Main theing for me is if god is a sham, and people just made all of it up to cope with death, then it would be very sad to have dedicated my life to a sham.
If I remember correctly, someone said death makes for a good lie detecter, when Paul was abused and torture he was still Christian, and Paul was specifically going to meet Christians for the purpose of killing them, but suddenly became Christian because of Jesus asking why he is prosecuting his people before saying to spread the word instead of punishing him for he was unable to be blamed for his action but was given mercy, but God said that his life will be merciless but to always believe in him, and so he did.
But Paul known that deceivers would pop up after Jesus resurrection and conducted test to prove if they where right, he was so well know that people apparently started rubbing cloths on him and taking it back homes to exercise demon by uttering Jesus name through Paul after seeing and/or hearing him doing so to other demons, and in the end Paul died a martyr (killed because of their beliefs).
Today I learned of Duane Miller who lost his voice because of a flu for 3 year of which scar tissue formed and told he will never recover, but one day he went to preached after years of not doing so and talked about how God heals all diseases and ailments, before a miracle happened that was catch on tape, his voice went back to normal and he was confused, he believe in God and everything he spoke but to have a miracle happen to him instead of in the Bible or others spooked him, the next day he went to the doctors which had video evidence of scar tissue building up for the pass years but when the doctor came back, he had tiers in his eyes saying the he could explain his voice caming back spontaneously and everyone will believe him because he is a professional, but he could not explain the lack of scar tissue in which there was none in his throat.

There are very good arguments for God’s existence. Ever heard the moral argument? You’ll hear it as objective morality vs subjective morality. Basically, if atheism is true, people can’t do evil because no behaviors can be considered good or bad because there is no objective standard of right and wrong. We know this isn’t true. This is why we have justice systems that punish evil. God is good and His justice system is perfect and everyone will be judged for what they’ve done whether good or bad.

As an atheist I respect someone if they are religious, I just don’t when they judge me over it.
As a Christian, we are taught to not judge as it is said in the Bible. However, some Christians fail to obey that and I am very sorry if you've ever been judged for not believing.
For me, the fact that miracles aren't a real thing and are just luck, the fact that not everyone gets their life saved by Jesus even if they're Christian, the fact that God lets animals get killed by other animals, and my logical sense of thinking, which means not believing in such blissful worlds is enough reasons to not believe in God.
So when Jesus healed the blind man and touched his head, it was just a coincidence? Just because people claim their Christian doesn’t actually mean they’re Christian. Look at the crusades. Animals attack each other out of fear, Hunger and protecting young. And if animals stopped eating each other, every ecosystem would die out into extinction.

I myself had a pretty difficult discussion where I finally realized that most of western societies morals don't come from Judeo-Christian theology, but rather an amalgamation of socioeconomic factors. For example, prior to the Anglican reformation divorce was heavily frowned upon if the church ever allowed it, once king James had reformed the Anglican church to allow for divorce there's not many people out there how would say that no matter what divorce should never be allowed. As well theology can often be used to excuse any form of wrong doing, like with how the pope gives sanctuary to priests that were found guilty of SA, I myself am still a Theist but I know now that the seperation of church and state has been one of the most beneficial things society has come up with
Yeah. Sadly the morality of man or religion seems to be mostly tied to political needs. When one group wants to find allies they might push emphasis on a specific ideology within their religion. If other groups agree with those groups can unite together to create a common cause.
This can be in the form where the ingroup become aggressive toward a minority group in order to give the ingroup a goal to achieve and thus something to accomplish. That could be to make it impossible for women to marry in order for that ingroup to differentiate themselves from other groups that are also trying to emphasize their morality traits so that potential believers can see their values and make a connection to that motivation.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can lead to a lot of unnecessary conflict and even unnecessary oppression.
Religion isn’t good or bad, it just is, but when used for horrible things by people it can become quite dangerous and harmful.
That’s why it is healthy for all religious groups to understand what good and bad things a religious leader can try to accomplish in order to give the group a feel of unity behind a common goal and purpose. If that purpose is suddenly to kill all the other people or shoot people in a mall, then your critical thinking skills better know that your god’s words are now being used to manipulate you.
When any individual person is speaking and interpreting the words of a god, then that speaker can mention anything that the bible has written, if all words from it are facts but those facts can be manipulated by stringing them together with unrelated context that can make any statement true as long as you use any word from a religious text.
Some use it to protect the weak and promote acceptance, others use the same words in a deferent context in order to protect people guilty of SA crimes.

Morals seem to show up earlier then religion, however it still seems a valid point that religion was a beneficial step in our social development. As we could have a higher power dictate laws instead of the stronger human, and as you mentioned it has a way of uniting groups together by having a common cultural belief.
A good example is what Gandhi speaks of, that it's not the beliefs that are the issue it is humanities need for conformity that creates these dilemmas. We live in a wonderful time, with so much information about our existence we should continue to improve ourselves, and not be so dogmatic about words in books

Why There is a "Creator"
According to science as we know it, something cannot be created from nothing (1st law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed within a closed system)
The physical universe, as we currently understand it, appears to be a closed system.
-Therefore, there is no answer that adheres to measurable science while simultaneously avoiding an infinite regress.
- For example you could say it started with the big bang. Where did that start? Science's consensus is a dense point which is continuously expanding (redshift gives evidence the universe is continuously expanding).
-Where did the atoms in the dense point come from?
- Maybe it came from quantum fluctuations but those are possible in a vacuum which is not absolute nothing.
-Maybe the universe is a loop?
- However it is atypical for loops to have no start. If the universe was infinitely old, there would be no present. If you go back infinitely how could you ever go forward? If there's an infinite past, you cannot get to the present without avoiding infinite regression. Can we get to today without yesterday passing?
So where did the closed system being the universe originate?
The Definition of the Creator:
Given the general consensus of scientists is:
- The universe is a closed system (finite)
- The universe began and didn't always exist (i.e. time in this closed system started)
- Something can't start existing without a cause
- The total energy in the universe has always been the same (as energy cannot be created or destroyed in a closed system)
Therefore the universe could only have originated from something that:
- Is outside this closed system (infinite)
- Existed before/exists beyond time (as we know it, in this closed system)
- Started without a cause (or atleast beyond a cause that exists within our closed system)
- Is able to create energy (or atleast insert it into our closed system)
By definition, this something is unmeasurable by science as it has to be something that is not bound by the laws of time, space and energy in this universe. Science would never be able to prove the existence of the creator, we can only come to that assumption via deductive reasoning as done above.
Whatever this something is, is the creator of the universe. Some may call this something "God".
Cause and effect. Creator and its' Universe.
The universe, according to science, started. This means there has to be a cause to require the effect of the universe.
If there's a creator of the universe, it may also have a creator but the former is not "God" as we would have an infinite regress (the "who created the God?" argument).
This is why by definition there must be a "God"- 1 individual being that meets the previously stated requirements on a beyond universal scale.
What many call "God" is simply the initial cause creating the effect of the universe, (whereas God in religion is the be all and end all. the creator of the universe, or the creator of the creator of the universe, or the creator of the creator of the creator of the universe, etc.)
According to science, there is a creator of the universe. Whether or not that creator is God would require evidence beyond the limited comprehension of our beloved science. I believe Islam has overwhelming evidence to support the rational idea of a creator of the universe.

The big bang didn't create anything, it only spread existing matter throughout the universe. And why should god be able to create himself and not the universe?
