- There're two types of bowling styles on earth at the time of speaking, 1-handed and 2-handed. The names have explained themselves. Most of the players in the world of bowling start with 1 hand because it can be seen as the conventional style. But, till recently, the 2 handed players have emerged as a powerhouse with dominant revolutions and carry.
I have been a 1 handed bowler for over 9 years, and I have tried switching to 2 handed style for around 1 year. My journey to explore a new bowling style is quite interesting and I would love to share with you the best bowling tips to understand and enjoy this new technique.

For me, 2-handed is something I needed to go to because of a severe shoulder injury. 2-handed took a lot of the weight and strain off my shoulder and moved it to the legs (former infantry so my legs are far more conditioned). I have struggled quite a bit on the switch for the last 9 months because instruction is varies on the many many different styles of 2-handers. In my league, I would say 30% of us are 2-handers...and not a single 2 of us have the same style. Some dash to the foul line, some throw almost from the hip, some are turned 90 degrees, some push out, some get very low to the ground, etc. Giving advice is hard to do because it means someone may have to change their ways for your way.
I was EXTREMELY unorthodox in 1-handed...in fact, I was very similar to Tom Daugherty's style...almost identical except for the "stompy robot" approach. Going 2-handed meant I had to completey change a 12yr style that still tries to take over on some parts. I am in my 40s and can't get as low as I used to...2-handed helps a little but I have learned timing is everything...
Hi Jason, Thanks so much for your deep sharing. Switching to 2 handed is a rare decision. I still remember the first time I changed to 2-handed from 1-handed, many friends told me to stop because I looked so weird in this style. But I wanted to try and see what's beyond. It turns out to be really good and give more space for me to explore this sport. It's all in your thought and your choice.
Yes timing is really important! Totally agree
