MILLION DOLLAR BABY MOVIE REACTION | 0:00 - 30:53
MILLION DOLLAR BABY MOVIE REVIEW | 30:54 - 33:50
Million Dollar Baby Movie Description:
Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) is a veteran Los Angeles boxing trainer who keeps almost everyone at arm's length, except his old friend and associate Eddie "Scrap Iron" Dupris (Morgan Freeman). When Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) arrives in Frankie's gym seeking his expertise, he is reluctant to train the young woman, a transplant from working-class Missouri. Eventually, he relents, and the two form a close bond that will irrevocably change them both.
Million Dollar Baby is a 2004 American sports drama film directed, co-produced, scored by and starring Clint Eastwood from a screenplay written by Paul Haggis, based on short stories by F.X. Toole, the pen name of fight manager and cutman Jerry Boyd. It also stars Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman. The film follows Margaret "Maggie" Fitzgerald (Swank), an underdog amateur boxer who is helped by an underappreciated boxing trainer (Eastwood) to achieve her dream of becoming a professional.
Million Dollar Baby was theatrically released on December 15, 2004, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It received critical acclaim and grossed $216.8 million domestically. The film garnered seven nominations at the 77th Academy Awards and won four: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (for Swank), and Best Supporting Actor (for Freeman).

Didn't Know Clint Had This In Him. No Wonder He Is In The Hall Of Fame!
Please Share And Like The Video.
After you react to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, I'd like to see you react to Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), also made by Sergio Leone. You'll find the directing to be truly special, and even better than TGTBATU in my opinion.
Gran Tornio was shockingly good too, when I learned it was him behind the camera and choices of the films composition... I respect Clint Eastwood.
Yeah, he the man
This movie destroys me, brings out emotions didn't know I had. On that note..
Yeah "Unforgiven" or "Grand Torino" should be your next Eastwood videos. He's done more stuff but didn't start truly pulling at the heartstrings until these guys.
You haven't even begun to scratch the surface of this mans capabilities. You owe it to yourself to watch his work. It is second to none.
Clint Eastwood won Best Director, Hillary got Best Actress and Morgan Freeman got Best Supporting Actor. Also Best Film. It deserved all of them..
agree
And for Clint & Hillary it was there 2nd Oscars. Clint's first was Best Director for Unforgiven & Hillary won her first Best actress award for Boys don't cry.
It absolutely did deserve every one of them
Yup.
Gran Torino is a must after this
For sure
Oh yeah, Gran Torino and Unforgiven.
@@paulbadics4485 ^^^^^
Unforgiven first then gran torino
Ehh
I’m not a big crier. But this movie just kills me man. It breaks me down to nothing by the end. The emotional impact is phenomenal
I agree.
And you know what? Clint is *still* going strong, directing and starring in (his own) movies at *91 years old.*
If Clint becomes the terminator we all are fucked.
He's got a new movie coming out next month.
Just watched The Mule was really good
His newest film, Cry Macho, will come out in a few weeks!
Yeah in September Cry Macho is coming out, with Clint not only directing but also main star acting. At 91. What a freaking champ!
Clint knows how to hit those heartstrings gotta try Gran Torino another great one
Gran Torino made me chuckle and almost cry. Almost... enough said.
True!!!!👍👍
I loved MDB and all of Clint Eastwood’s films….and I generally liked Grand Torino, but as an Asian American, I did find it a little bit racist.
@@Adam-mj5hl it absolutely is, that was the point. He evolved to love Tao and took him in as a father figure. Just like he’s a sexist in Million Dollar Baby who eventually takes her in as his daughter. It’s about the character evolution.
@@evansmith2279 The difference between MDB and GT is the white savior complex theme. In GT, he portrays Asians as a savage group of people who need the help of the white man, who ultimately sacrifices his life for them.
Oh sweetheart, I was feeling so bad for you, getting all excited about Maggie’s progress as a fighter and loving everything, when I knew you were about to get your heart broken.
When she wrapped up those leftovers in the restaurant, I started crying in the theater. I did the same thing when I was a poor waitress.
That last look they shared between them....
She looked at him with so much love and gratitude for helpingher die!!!
I just loose it every time 😭
I saw this movie for the first time yesterday and I'll tell you, this movie did not take the route I thought it would. This movie didn't break me, it shattered me.
This is going to sound weird, but watching you tear up made me smile. The power of art to move us in ways we never expected, is beautiful! Whether we talk about movies, music, or pieces of art, the things we can create that speak to us all so deeply, will never cease to make me smile. Thanks for sharing your emotions with us Mell. This was beautiful!
So true. Any medium can do it if it's done well.
So many people try to separate the media, claim they're different. Yet a two and a half minute song can tell a whole story, a single painting can break your heart, a movie can teach a life-long lesson, a sculpture can help you reach serenity. You can call yourself an artist if you paint, sing, write, dance or act because they all do the same thing in the end.
A profound movie experience. How Clint didn't win Best Actor I'll never know. A real actor's movie. And to think that Freeman was narrating it at first but turns out he was merely writing a letter to Clint's daughter letting her know what kind of a man he really was. Masterpiece.
i remember hearing about this movie while I was sitting in the barber shop, back when it first came out.
I lived in a rough area. That neighborhood made everyone tough. There were three chairs in that shop, and each of the barbers always kept a gun on them.
Well, I heard my barber talking to the guy in the middle chair about having just watched this movie with his dad. The guy in the middle chair said "Oh yeah? Is it good? I hear it's good". My barber started to speak, stopped himself, paused for a moment, and in the most sincere and straightforward way he said "I'm not even gonna lie, I got emotional... I nearly started crying right there in front of my dad. I had to look away and start bullshitting about other stuff to distract myself".
The guy in the middle chair looked surprised (we all did) and said "Seriously? You cryin'?" and my barber just responded with "Just watch it. It's good".
I got give mell alot love and respect for not hiding his emotions he let those tears fall,he could've edited it all out but he didnt,Mell you only youtuber i really enjoy watching when comes to watching movies for the 1st time you the best of the best, your next movie you should watch has to be SEVEN POUNDS trust me you will love it,i hope you read this comment and reply back,Seven pounds is one of will Smith's best performances
Appreciate you Mell, hope to your reaction to Seven Pounds soon
My story, saw this in the theater with 2 friends, all in our late 20's . . . we did a little boxing back in the day. We're all 'big tough dudes' and we all cried. It was a very quiet drive home, all 3 of us in the same car. This movie kicks you right in the 'feels' and sometimes it's nice to be reminded that we still have 'feels'. Peace.
Couldn't keep it dry either.
My other favorite Hillary Swank performance is in Boys Don't Cry (1999).
She was great in Boys Dont Cry, also my favorite along with this movie.
Oh man don't make him watch that... Terrific movie but oh man so heavy.
@@vovindequasahi He should totally watch it, and Monster (2003) too.
You crying made me want to cry. 😭. This is such a powerful movie and such a powerful reaction from you!
Double upload? And a Clint Eastwood film to boot? NICE
You know what's next. Gran Torino.
Unforgiven then gran torino
I still can't bring myself to watch this movie in its entirety. The ending is heartbreaking
Hillary Swank is great in everything she does. Tears your heart out. Boys Don’t Cry was her first Oscar. She was fantastic as a battered wife in The Gift too. But Million Dollar Baby is my favorite.
This movie gets me everytime too. Thank you for your genuine and raw reaction, I was crying alongside with you. Let’s do a comedy next- how about planes trains and automobiles
Watch Josey Wales or Gran Torino next. Clint Eastwood legends.
My favorite Eastwood movies are Josey Wales, a Perfect World, Gran Torino and this one, oh and Unforgiven...too much amazing movies by Clint Eastwood
Gran Torino and The Outlaw Josie Wales were exactly the 2 films I was going to suggest.
I can see this one tore you up. It did the same to me when I saw it many years ago, and every time since. It starts as a fantastic boxing film, but finishes as a true achievement in dramatic cinema.
I really wanted her to have a rocky style comeback
Its mind-blowing when you take into account Clint's directing style where he rarely shoots a scene twice. I feel like that's how he captures stellar moments of actors really giving it their all.
Great reaction..I don’t cry often but when she says, “remember what my daddy did for axel”, I completely lost it.
Don't forget that Clint composed the soundtrack for this movie as well. Dude is a machine.
This film touched me on a very personal level when I first saw it. I had never been more emotionally impacted in my life.
The acting and story is the reason why it won academy award and is really only watched once 🥺
Literally every thing Clint has acted and especially directed is some of the best movies ever
This movie always brings me to tears. So glad to see such an amazing person as yourself have the same raw emotions 🥲
Clint is a genius. First movie since I was a kid thar made me tear up, which was ET. Besides acting and directing, he also did the score, just like his best movie and the all time best western, UNFORGIVEN
I really hope he teaches the kids how to direct instead of being Clint's kids in movies. It'll go a long way if they learn the craft that is 2nd nature to Clint.
Clint Eastwood is an amazing Actor and also Mellverse just wanna say your channel is awesome and I mean that personally 👍👍👍👍👍
I saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and it has impacted me in a way that I can’t explain. The story is so tragic yet so beautiful.
This movie just snatches your heart out of your chest. 😢 my daughter and cried like babies for hours. Every once in a while a movie comes along and changes your life forever. Great reaction!
I recommend 'Whiplash' directed by Damien Chazelle. I absolutely love that movie. The ending is amazing the movie is so well written and shot. I would love to see if it will make you feel the same way i felt when I watched it!
EXCELLENT movie!
Terence Fletcher is the teacher that nightmares are made of.
A well-deserved Oscar for J.K. Simmons
("do I look like a fucking rainbow to you?")
It's an editing masterclass as well.
I'm so happy I found your channel. Not only is it so lovely seeing your genuineness and empathy for people in the film, I love how you comment on the cinematography of the film. I too hope that the daughter reunites with her father at the end. Huge respect to you for bearing your soul out with these heartfelt movies and God bless! 🙏🏽 also love that you used the Last of Us theme in your video!
Before I even saw the thumbnail, I was saying He'd better have some tissues ready.
Great genuine reaction, man. I've only seen this movie once and I've never watched it again because it crushed me. You seem very real, and that's why I and many others enjoy watching these movies with you.
I see some people recommending Gran Torino, and I don't think it's anywhere near the level of this one.
Watching your reactions is like watching the movie with a friend.
I love a movie that can make you feel real emotions.
Watching you cry made me cry over this movie once again.
Every time i watch this movie i start crying from the start because i know the end. Their coach-student, father-daughter relationship breaks my heart every time... 💔
This movie broke me to my core. I really couldn't pull myself together. I never cry, my girlfriend couldn't believe it.
Gran Torino is next…another Clint Eastwood film that will move you to tears. Great reaction. Thank you!
Beautiful reaction, just beautiful. I'm sitting here, sobbing. I know why I watched this movie once, then never again. It's just so tragic.
So now you've seen a Clint Eastwood-directed movie. What do you think?
So now you've seen Hilary Swank act. What do you think?
I'm glad you watched this movie because there so much out there about superheroes, monsters, zombies, etc. When you're done watching them, how do you feel? I have to go wipe my eyes and blow my nose. I've been moved before, but this is a killer. Just gets me so mad I just don't like to watch it.
The movie is nothing short of brilliant, as was the acting.
This is the only second time seeing it. Just like passion of the Christ.
some movies are just hard to watch more than once :(
Passion of the Christ always gets me balling😩
@@Theelaydee only seen it once
@@Theelaydee watch silence 2016 :)
and silenced 2011 (korean movie)
these 2 movies you will not be able to watch more than once
@@aligmal5031 oh boy 🥺 I’ll add them to my list lol thank you for the suggestions!
Your reaction to this film, one of my absolute favorites of all time, brought a spark back to my eyes as a screenwriter and movie lover. It reminded me of what the art of storytelling is all about, allowing yourself to become so immersed in the story that you take the hits just as the film does. Much respect.
Damn man, this one hit hard..
But you got through it..
Much love man, your reactions are some of if not the most genuine reactions on CZcams period.
The best Old Yeller remake ever.
I really enjoy your take on these movies. You're a genuine good person and it's amazing to see what movies do for us all. We go through a roller coaster of all the human emotions when we watch stories emotionally impactful like this, and if only for 2 hours, it brings a commonality among us and also brings insight and perspective about other people's lives. Even when the movie is over and you hear those piano keys play and the score takes over, the emotion still rings. Keep up the good work dude, it's bringing good to the world, just like Clint Eastwood and everyone involved in this film does when they create stories.
Gorram, this movie was an emotional gut punch. The theater was in tears at the end.
This movie and Requiem for a dream I can't bring myself to watch again but I'm so thankful that I watched them for sure
Man that German Shepherd (Axel) story was some grim foreshadowing though. This is an amazing and sad film. Great reaction too!
This is what reaction videos can do. Not many reactors have this in them. Great reaction.
I saw this in the theater and made a fool of myself uncontrollably sobbing. I think I embarrassed my mom. I cried again watching your video. The movie will stay with you. That’s how good it is.
If you loved this Clint/Morgan combination, you must see "Unforgiven" from 1992. To me, it is a masterpiece of a film that re-wrote the genre.
Any Clint Eastwood movie will make you cry and it's gold. He is the best.
That was probably the best reaction video, I've ever watched.
Who's cutting those onions ?
There are very few movies that actually make me cry. But just watching a reaction video on this movie does the trick. The second part of this movie has to be one of the most devastating pieces of cinema ever made.
Fun Fact: When Hillary Swank started training for the film she was a strict Vegetarian at the time. And to put on all the muscle she did, she drank 60 egg whites every 24 hours. She'd have to wake up multiple times a night to get it all in.
Damn you be crying.
Seriously, I've seen the movie and you were making me a bit misty. It's not in the top of my favorite Clint movies, but it was a movie that made me a huge fan of Clint. It's just....so sad and hopeless at the end. The explanation you give for the ending makes some sense. And I think it was deliberately hinted at. Of course, we don't know exactly what went down with his daughter...so...I don't know.
But I first saw the movie getting sucked into going with my Grandmother as part of a church group. So I wasn't exactly looking forward to it. And it kind of blew me away. And you had an amazing genuine review. So kudos.
Such a long time ago when you were sitting hoping for 2,000. But you do great work. Waiting for GBU. (And maybe Midnight Run).
I remember reacting negatively to this film when I first saw it, might have been too young to appreciate it. Your reaction not only refreshed my memory but changed my outlook on it.
I hate seeing this movie, not because it's bad, it's an amazing movie with even more amazing acting... but it is too tragic to even imagine this situation, it breaks my heart, I can't.
What an amazing film. But more than that, thank you for your honest reaction. It was a privilege to watch this.
Cannot believe you didn't understand why the priest was so abrupt with Clint's character. Clint was constantly egging him on and it's obvious he has been doing it for some time until he had enough and spoke to Clint the same way. I applaud the priest for not taking Clint's verbal sarcasm.
Watching you in tears talking about lighting is pretty funny. I was in tears with you my friend.
The Green Mile will tear you up on a different level.
He also does some of the music to his movies too
I can tell you are such a sweet sensitive soul. Dont ever change. This movie had me crying long after it was over. Clint Eastwood is an amazing director. Morgan & clint work well 2gether like the unforgiven .
Mellow, this was such a beautiful reaction. You felt every step of the way, the good, the bad and the sad. Thank you for sharing this, I know it must have been hard, putting yourself out there like this and I thank you for it. You feel like you are a friend to me, one I have never met in real life and would very much like to one day. Your reactions are great and I'm so happy to be here on your journey.
Man, I love your content. The way you're not afraid to show your emotions is everything.
You got a good heart man, movies like this I have to hide my face in the cinema because I get so emotional for the suffering of all humans in film. The fact yr open and real is a sign yr very intelligent and creative and you understand the human condition, life is full of suffering. It hurts but we must be kind and keep going. You made me cry. ✌️✌️✌️
Clint has”Cry Macho” coming out. My man is 91. He’s a tough guy, he’s a good guy. Like all of us he doesn’t have everything right in life, but. He has the good things things right. This is a great Eastwood movie, The Unforgiven is his best. But I love what he does.
She earned that damn Oscar
Mell this might be my favorite video of yours. This and the Color Purple.
Thank you for sharing honest emotions with us. I cry every time you do.
And glad you used that TLoU music. They are similar stories.
One of the few movies that I don’t know a single person who doesn’t tear up. It’s great to see you have the vulnerability to show your emotions to the world. It’s a beautiful thing, and I wish more people would have the courageous to do that. The world might just be a better place. M tuu
I tend to bottle up my emotions, but even this movie puts tears in my eyes. Great reaction... the performances are so great in this film.
In totality, from beginning to end, this is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking stories I've ever seen.
GREAT REACTION!! Still find it hard to believe they filmed this movie in 37 days!!
Can’t wait to see the good , bad, and the ugly . Another great Eastwood film
I enjoy your reactions. I want you to know I think you are a very nice young man with a wonderful heart. I wish you the best life has to offer .
This is why I like this channel. I can tell your very genuine and you have a good heart.
You know how there are people who if they see some vomit, that causes them to vomit? Well, because of your videos I've learned that whenever I see someone cry, it causes me to cry
I've watched this movie once - it emotionally destroyed me. I didn't expect anything that happened after the final match. It STILL haunts me today and that was from ONE viewing when it was new. Eastwood is truly a master of his domain.
Just to answer the question in the heading...NO, that would be Unforgiven...it's a true masterpiece! Best western film of all-time.
...also, a Hillary Swank reccomendation Boys Don't Cry
Mell......omg you broke me 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Such a genuine and heartfelt reaction
Mell, you're the reason we watch these videos. Not the movie, but you. Because you're always you. 100% no filter, no fake. And that's what we love.
I didn't think I'd cry.
Bro, the fact that you let the emotions show... respect. Many others try to fight it back or edit it out. Especially guys. But damn... respect.
My daddy love clint Eastwood all his movies.he was just like C Eastwood.
A plain Jane
Fun fact: Hilary Swank really did break her nose in that one fight.
huh?!
Something about seeing Clint Eastwood cry. This is one movie that always gets me.
Awesome and true reaction. I watched this is the cinema - and dear god the crying!!!!
i cant stand watching this again..too heartbreaking 😭😭
Hilary Swank is amazing
I remember watching this movie a few years ago with a pretty neutral mind to it. I didn´t know anything about it, so needless to say I was caught off guard. I´ve never cried so much to a movie in my entire life, cause I wasn´t done crying until an hour after the movie was OVER!
Clint Eastwood as a director is guaranteed to make you cry.
Clint Eastwood is a National Treasure. Hell, INTERNATIONAL Treasure. Incredible man. Get this: he is now 91 years old and in this year 2021 releasing Cry Macho, which he not only directs but also stars in!
There's no question that this one earned the awards it received. Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor (Freeman), and Best Director (Eastwood).
Nah man, The Outlaw Josey Wales. Ultimate classic movie.
Im from Southern Missouri and she absolutely nails the accent…..the lady that plays her mom does as well, especially when she said the word “laugh”
One of the few movies that's so sad I can't watch again. Thanks for the reaction.
I cried during this .. I lose my aunty 😞. I'm still crying now 😑❤ .
