    As a child therapist... I believe that Maddie, like the majority of kids with a trauma history, was misdiagnosed. Anxiety and ADHD can mimic each other. We do a crappy job of helping children when we don't get all the information. Pediatricians and community mental health are frequently the worst, they don't dig for real info to assess, just putting a band aide on the problem behaviors.

None of us can know if she was autistic because we don't know anything about her, we've never seen her as a person interacting with other people. • @Thepublicaccount
      @Thepublicaccount Před měsícem +2

      people pleasing and bubbly personalities a lot of times come from abuse. because a lot of times the victims are told I’m doing this to you because you did something bad so they become extreme people pleasers so the person that they’re interacting with won’t do the same thing to them. The photographs of her you can absolutely see that is not a bubbly happily child. at best from those photos, somebody should get that she’s suffering with insomnia . I think people need to better educate their self on the signs of this, especially people in teaching positions, childcare and coaching positions. it’s just like everybody’s so shocked when a comedian like Robin Williams commit suicide because they always see them as happy bubbly, joking it’s usually used in defense of what’s going on in their life.
      I know someone that works in the field and the minute that her photograph was put up as a missing child. She called it in two seconds that she was sexually abused. People need to really learn how to look at people and start questioning What’s going on underneath the people pleasing behavior.

    • @glowcart7614
      @glowcart7614 Před 29 dny +1

      The public account I agree with you because my friend that I am talking about also suffered from s.a. but not everyone can tell and also teacher can’t make assumptions or ask kids if they are getting abuse or anything without their jobs being jeopardized. Especially here in Florida these teachers are under paid and treated like scum she was her substitute teacher she will sub her classes every week and she said she didn’t show it her best friend on the news said she didn’t show like nothing was wrong and all Maddy said was I hate my stepfather which me growing up I would say it and he never did anything to me or touch me! I agree that teachers should take classes and how to help students but better yet I feel like Florida should be paying these teachers more and counselors at school should be pulling kids out of class randomly to speak to them!

    I looked this up: In Florida, child abuse is defined as intentional infliction of physical or mental injury upon a child, an intentional act that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury to a child, or active encouragement of any person to commit an act that results or could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury to a child1. If a child is allowed to sleep with a boyfriend and he sexually abuses her, it would likely fall under the category of child abuse. The severity of the offense would depend on the specific circumstances and the harm caused to the child. Here are the relevant definitions and penalties:
    Aggravated Child Abuse:
    Occurs when a person:
    Commits aggravated battery on a child.
    Willfully tortures, maliciously punishes, or willfully and unlawfully cages a child.
    Knowingly or willfully abuses a child and in so doing causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement to the child.
    This offense is a felony of the first degree, punishable by imprisonment and fines1.
    Child Abuse:
    Includes:
    Intentional infliction of physical or mental injury upon a child.
    Acts that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury to a child.
    Active encouragement of harmful acts toward a child.
    The harm does not need to be severe; even minor injuries or threats can constitute child abuse.
    This offense is a felony of the third degree, punishable by imprisonment and fines1.
    Neglect of a Child:
    Occurs when a caregiver fails to provide necessary care, supervision, and services to maintain a child’s physical and mental health.
    Neglect can be based on repeated conduct or a single incident that results in serious physical or mental injury or a substantial risk of death to a child.
    Neglect is also a criminal offense with varying degrees of severity1.
    Remember that the legal system will consider the specific details of the situation when determining charges and penalties. If you suspect child abuse or neglect, it’s crucial to report it to the appropriate authorities promptly. You can contact the central abuse hotline in Florida at 1-800-96-ABUSE2. Seek professional legal advice if you have concerns about a specific case.

    Yes exactly! If she isn't on the spectrum, then she isn't on the spectrum. Nothing wrong with those who are but I think people jump to put labels on things way to quickly now a days. Also as an unpopular opinion for someone in the healthcare field. They jump way to quickly to put people on medications. My son has ADHD, he has been diagnosed with it but when he was diagnosed I had a doctor that saw things the way I did. We can use the ADHD to get the extra needs that we needed at school but we weren't going to jump and put him on medication. Your supposed to slow walk it. It's supposed to be tailored to each individual because we are individuals and every person and every BODY is different. I don't know why people want to be lumped into the labels. Yes celebrate what makes you unique and that doesn't mean you have to be something or diagnosed with something. Not having something makes you unique as well. I don't get it anymore. It's becoming a fad and I do worry that people will end up doing permanent damage to their bodies. These aren't supplements, they are serious medications that interact with the living cells within you.

    HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN FLORIDA TO DECIDE WHICH PARENT YOU WANT TO LIVE WITH?
    In most of the states across the country, the child's preferences will be weighed before making a custody decision from the minimum age of 14. However, in Florida, there is no specific age. It is left up to the judge to decide.

    • @Thepublicaccount
      @Thepublicaccount Před měsícem +1

      Florida is one of the few states that there is not a set age. It is always the judges discretion so if the judge feels that a child is mature enough or understanding enough or can give special information why they should not be living with a certain parent they can, speak in at any age. so probably one of the biggest reasons I wanted everybody to believe she was so mentally ill so she could decide where she wanted to live. I don’t think dad is any better. I mean, he may not go on his but come on. You could honestly look at a picture of her and tell that that was a very unhappy she was depressed looking at her birthday party with her friends there was a few smiles, but even when she was smiling, it was not an authentic happy smile.

Jennifer said she worked a night shift? If she did she came back home in the early morning hours and lied about seeing Madeline getting ready for school. Jennifer is really in trouble what if she had something to do with Madeline and is lying for SS. This woman giving to police to many inconsistencies. And told police that she was dropped off by the church so she could walk to her school. She knew Madeline was already gone. They need to let her know she involved and that she’s lying. But who really did the horrible crime. Justice for Madeline Soto 🌷

      The problem with her story is she clearly says she didn’t go to the party because she was working. She got off work came home and talked to her. she worked for Disney. Disney has people that work around the clock, but they work around the clock based on departments so overnight work is the refurbishment teams the custodial teams, cleaning teams she was in the role of being a vacation coordinator and trainer so she would somewhat fall into customer service, which would work during the park hours, it would be very hard for Disney to say somebody from customer service come in and work the overnight crew that works on rides paints the park cleans it. It’s very rare that they will cross jobs like that when you think of employment most jobs people think if somebody calls out then you might work a double shift you need to think of every shift at Disney is a completely different different company basically. So in the regular world, it would be like saying Jen worked at McDonald’s, but the local marina wanted her to come work on a boat for a second shift. The two companies are no way connected, even though they may be next-door to each other. The job descriptions are completely different and that’s how Disney works. Their stuff. There is actually for the most part falls under the Walt Disney World umbrella but different people work are actually different LLC companies like an example Walt Disney World Merchandise LLC Walt Disney World sanitation LLC that’s not real names. Just an example so workers would be very hard to even cross those lines because they would have to stay under that same umbrella for the LLC‘s and the permits that they have. It’s a really complicated once you get into the higher up of the management of the company, then a lot of other companies because there’s just so many different things there

    I will not believe that this child had any other things they were trying to say is wrong with her. mental disorders are used constantly by abusers to continue to abuse by saying that the person isn’t mentally stable. They’re not capable of taking care of their self or understanding the world around them. If anything she had a lot of PTSD and anxiety, which is completely reasonable, considering what these two people were putting her through every day.

    All speculation. Jen could have took too many meds or maby was given extra by sterns & was too incoherent to be aware of what’s happening with her daughter that night & morning. She wasn’t present so she took sterns whole story and just repeated it & put her motherly stamp on it saying “we” a lot when she in fact wasn’t doing her job as a mother. SMH . Who knows how often she did that. I can’t wait for trial. I need to see JUSTICE & FACTS!

      You don’t put your daughter in bed with a grown man because he’s drugging. The mother clearly stated that she sent her daughter often to a bedroom with him in a four bedroom condo to sleep alone with him so she could have her peace and quiet, and as he said when the two of them had their PMS battles he would sleep with Maddie. This is the problem excuses are being made for her. She wasn’t drugged. She wasn’t so high. She didn’t know what was going on. This went on not one night this went on for years. It would be different if he just started this in the last week or two she had been gone for work a lot and this was brand new. He first videoed in 2019 usually a predator like this does not get the nerve to videotape until he had multiple other interactions, this girl has probably been molested by him since the day that he was brought in the picture in 2016

      Not to defend Jennifer whatsoever, but keep in mind that she is bipolar and also abusing prescription drugs. I have a close friend who is bipolar too, has a now 17 year old son and she has always had naps during the day. Medication and the condition itself can do that to a person. My friend's son was looked after mostly by his dad (her husband) as he was growing up.

    Bruh, stop talking on Autism pls. We can be absolutely 100% not in special needs programs, not have an IEP, not struggle in school with academics, but more with social issues. Autism is a spectrum, you can have very, very low needs, and girls tend to be high masking, so they may not even seem autistic at all. I'm autistic, I was exactly that way in school as a child, I just had a lot of issues with understanding the people around me and having misunderstandings with the other children, while asking the teachers weird questions because they said things that made no sense to a ND person. Literally NO ONE knew I was Autistic until I was 38 years old. We're all different. The fact that everyone has classified her as "so so sweet" kind of also goes hand in hand with a high masking low needs autistic.
    But I think everyone saying it was probably PTSD/CPTSD is right (though you can have both), because the symptoms of PTSD/CPTSD can mirror some characteristics of Autism. There's no specific set up for Autism, and y'all are ascribing more A2/A3 issues to someone who could very well have been A1.

    • @cje886
      @cje886 Před měsícem +3

      Also, there are no drugs for Autism, only for ADHD. They treat symptoms that come up (anxiety, depression) but there's no stimulant for Autism unless you have ADHD too. There's also no such thing as high functioning/low functioning, it's higher needs (as in special needs programs or help in school) and lower needs (more mental health support than anything).

    Def curious about more of the roomies take is on Maddie’s demeanor if it was different around her mom alone vs around her mom and SS.
    I wonder if this was going on while roomie was there and she didn’t know it bc she was living there when SS lived there also.
    I wonder what kind of leisure activities she did witness on Jenn’s side. I wonder if Maddie was ever in the house alone while Jenn and SS were in their room alone. Aka was there adult time observed when Maddie was out of the room. Doesn’t matter what kind of adult time but just curious if Maddie was able to exit their realm and play independently. SS said in the interview with police that she would never stray or run away and was “very dependent on us” about him and JS. So if she was seemingly so dependent then why was she saying she wanted to go live in the woods to her friends. That statement alone to me should have been transferred to kids parents or teachers and been reported as potential runaway. Even a normal fam with a kid saying they intend to runaway on their 13’th birthday should trigger a real response. I feel so sorry for the kid who got that measage. They must be a trusted friend and she was confiding so they really must be upset and grieving such a close friend.
    I’m very curious as to what JS had to gain from handing her kid over. Companionship? Some sense of being loved and important to someone? I somehow think there was more than this. She wasn’t just a love starved medicated and tired mom who didn’t know better. She is capable of customer service per her job so she’s capable of discerning emotional changes in the house.
    I’m
    I dunno. But thanks for sharing this stuff. This case really sticks with me hard. Bringing in mental health for mom’s issues and mental health for Maddie’s issues almost sounds like she was projecting her own issues into her kid in a kind of munschausen by proxy mode in that she had brain issues and Maddie had adhd and they decided to tack on autism but then she tested not autistic. I believe her adhd maybe was from anxiety around what was happening to her. It’s not adhd at all and if they were treating her for thag; she was taking a stimulant and not needing it which would perpetuate the kid being hyper. Adhd meds are stimulants and if they saw she was hyper (or anxious and edgy from being abused ) and unable to focus (from being abused and scared) and the parents used her medications it’s possible she was never adhd or on the spectrum. Annnnnd if she were actually ADHD and treated, she wouldn’t exhibit hyper nor focus problems. She was able to paint those figurines with Stephan. That kind of work takes a ton of concentration.

    Masters in mental health care here: agree completely on your take.
    I’m actually surprised we don’t catch more parents using kids diagnoses as a way to fish out drugs. I suspected that Letecia stauch was diverting her step sons vyvanse. Sterns mentioned both Ativan and adderrall in various posts. Jennifer Sotos response to her daughter being missing hit the alarm on every mother watching her for a good reason. We need to trust our collective intuition -perhaps to make up for folks like Jen who don’t seem to have any. 😢
