I’ve never seen anyone address this! So grateful for this video because this is how I was raised! “The Power of Positive Thinking” and being so shamed for sadness or anger 😣

Thanks for this video. My parents act like this and only want me to act a certain way but pmdd and adhd make it impossible to be like that so I don't think there will ever be any middle ground with them. I think cutting them out of my life is the best choice because they'll never get it or don't ever want to get it. The way they were earlier in my life made me feel a very hopeless helpless and suicidal because I couldn't get the proper amount of support from the two people I saw the most and it made me feel like I was a freak of nature or a monster when I just needed to feel loved and supported for how I was/am by somebody.

I found it very true when you talked about showing issues aside and didn't deal with all the negative things that were distressing. Instead only focused on the positive. Until the tsunami of emotions hit. What's helpful is dealing with things at the time and try to improve the difficult situation and not shove it aside. Also not force the fake positivity on the family members.

Toxic positivity has been and is just lies to me 😓💔. Lies lies lies.

I understand how you feel. Toxic positivity can indeed be harmful, as it dismisses real emotions and experiences. It's important to acknowledge and validate your feelings, rather than covering them up with forced positivity. Your feelings are valid, and it's okay to experience and express them honestly. Surround yourself with people who support and understand you, and take the time you need to process your emotions. Also, I’d be grateful to hear what you found most useful from the video.
