    I just love Bettas! Mine is in his own planted 6.7 gallon setup with a few mystery snails and a red ramshorn that appeared out of nowhere. He constantly interacts with us and he's so curious about everything. He reminds me of a nosey dog lol.

    I have my betta in a 20 gall with a few mollies. 2 weeks ago I put the mollies outside for the warm season. Betta stopped swimming and sat at the bottom of the tank moving only to eat a little. So yesterday I put him outside. You'd think it was a family reunion.

    I had a single female peacock gudgeon along with 18 pygmy corys and a bamboo shrimp in my 15g, and it was a very harmonious tank. Lots of plants and stones along with botanicals really helped the pygmy corys feel secure. I actually prefer the look of the female peacock gudgeon better than the male because of the black stripe on the caudal fin on the females

    I have a sparkling gourami in my 25 gallon community tank and even if it’s one of the smallest fish in it, it is my absolute favorite fish in the entire tank. So much personality and just sticks out from the tank. (I’m slightly biased towards gouramis since they are my absolutely favorite species of fish)

    I have a pea puffer in a planted 5 gallon. When we got him, he was so tiny we always had to look for him among the plants, like looking for Waldo in the children's books "Where is Waldo?", so that's how he got his name. Waldo is a very curious guy and always watching when you are near his tank, "helicoptering" up and down. His favorite foods are brine shrimp and bloodworms and of course- snails! (but I can't watch him sucking them out of their shells, I feel bad for them).
    Of course we have Bettas, some alone in 5 gallon tanks and some in bigger community tanks.
    My Peacock Gudgeon are in a group and so pretty, but kind of shy. They need their Glowlight Tetra friends to help them come out from hiding.
    Never had Scarlet Badis, but I'm tempted. Sparkling Gouramis? Maybe.

    Good morning Joanna!! What a great question. I'm so excited to be in the world of Nano tanks. Of course I've always kept bettas but now I'm loving other options for stocking our 5 gallon tanks!
    I just received a new fish, a Betta Mahachaiensis. I've watched our friends Kasia Creative Pet Keeping and Taylor Simply Betta to learn a little more about him 💝
    I love Peanut the coworker. She is so adorable💝
    Oh my goodness I've been looking at KGs website for quite a while, it's so hard to choose so I keep asking myself which one really catches my eye the most and I think it's the blue rimmed betta with the Snow White Platinum body, they are so beautiful 😍 someday I'm going to get me one 🎉😁
    The little peacock gungeon is such a beautiful little fish. I never realized they can got the little hump on their head, I'm with you I think it makes it adorable! One of the fish that is definitely on my wish list!
    I've always been fascinated by the pea puffers, they look so magical to be potential little stinkers 😂😍
    That's really cool about the sparkling or croaking gourami and the sounds they make! Another beautiful choice 😍
    The Scarlet Badis is such a stunning little fish too! I would definitely try any of these little fish. It would be cool to have all kind of different Nano tanks set up with different little fish in them!! A little Nano collection 😁
    I have one little community 5 gallon with rice fish, shrimp, and Vienna Guppies that are small (kind of like endlers) It really is a neat tank... it looks like a big aquarium that has been shrunk down 😂❤️
    Thanks for another wonderful video Joanna!

    Great video. I kept my sparkling gouramis in a group of three, but I'm guessing they were all males because they would spar a bunch. And boy did they ever croak. I think that was how they competed. I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately they fought too much, now I only have one and he is much better alone. He doesn't croak anymore but he seems at peace.
    I have a scarlet badis in my 5.5 gallon desk tank and love him. He is the most inquisitive fish I've had, up there with the sparkling gourami, and I just love the way he stops and starts, then darts about the aquarium. This video came up when searching something unrelated. I learned about Peacock Gudgeons from you and Jason. I got 3 juveniles (1M/2F) who were ruthless with my male betta in a 20g, so I moved them to a 10g by themselves. Fast forward, now they're adults and have spawned once. The male is relentless in his quest to spawn again after eating the first batch about a week ago. Can I move one of them back into my 20g with my betta? There are also 6 Otos and some Nerites in there, but everyone is peaceful. The largest of the peacocks is female and she was the most vicious with my betta before when I had them together so she's likely not the best option. Best option might be the male. What do you recommend? ❤❤❤ Love you guys.

    I wouldn’t recommend keeping pea puffers in anything smaller than a 20gallon long and in anything less that a shoal of 6 because they are a social fish

    Trying to convert US gallons to UK gallons as there is a difference. Easier for me to work in litres. 5 US gallons is 18.92 litres or liters as you would spell it 😂. My smallest tank is 38 litres which is 10 US gallons. So I could get 2 pea puffers and two of everything else but the Betta, rather than one?

    • @pjp9383
      @pjp9383 Před 2 lety +2

      If you are able to buy or make a good divider (with no possibility of them slipping through or jumping over top) then you can keep 2 bettas. But a betta will also love having a whole 10g tank to themselves! I feel like the pea puffers would do better as a single or in a larger tank as a larger group, rather than the potential of a head-to-head if there are just two of them. Pretty standard practice to diffuse aggression by keeping larger groups of aggressive fish. But I've never kept pea puffers, so I don't know if my suspicion is correct.

    I could say I have a 5g but I'd be lying! I do have a 2 or 3 gallon cylinder tank on my desk but that's not why we're here today. I'll shut up and see what today's video wisdom is to be bestowed upon us.

    Hey Miss Joanna I have a question for you. IDK if this has already been asked and answered, but, once you've glued Anubias nana petite to a piece of wood, can it safely be taken off? If so, then how? I want to take the wood out, but want to keep the Anubias in my tank. Somewhere. LOL.

    • @thesmallscape
      @thesmallscape  Před 2 lety

      Hi, Cathy! Sure it can! You can remove the Anubias and leave the glue attached - or just cut off the part of the rhizome that is covered in glue. But if there are any roots on that glued section, don’t discard, it quite possibly will continue to grow its little bitty self too!. ☺️

      @@thesmallscape Oh cool. Do I need to leave the root in the glue? Or pull off the glue with root still in it? And then do I need to plant it or put it in water?

    Scarlet batís isn’t a good idea for people since they need special foods . More for the expert type

    • @pjp9383
      @pjp9383 Před 2 lety

      I wouldn't consider myself an expert fishkeeper (intermediate, maybe?) But frozen food is readily available at Petsmart etc, as well as mom and pop aquarium stores. I mostly keep pretty basic fish - bettas, guppies, corydoras and a few extra other types - and I always keep a selection of frozen stuff on hand. Nothing very complicated about it, just pop a cube out to defrost (or shave a bit off a larger chunk of frozen food), and add it to the tank with tweezers. Biggest challenge would be getting the quantity right so as not to waste too much of it, if the only fish you had was a scarlet badis.
