The V70 is the epitome of what Volvo is famous for - it's a big, comfortable and safe estate car. It's not the biggest in its class, but few will be disappointed with its luggage carrying capacity. Choose one of the three available diesel engines, and it also offers low running costs - especially the DRIVe version. The V70's trump card, though, is its long-distance comfort. Supportive seats and a quiet cabin mean few cars can match its motorway cruising ability. Two powerful petrol engines and four-wheel drive are available too, although they raise running costs dramatically without really adding anything to the driving experience.

This car with a 5 cylinder diesel feels like you could drive it for a thousand kilometers straight. It just feels so solid and stable.
it does. it does not brak down at all in 600-000 km
You can actually with 70 liters of fuel capacity its possible :)
I personally drove 1200 km per two days before the New Year's eve, but on the Volvo V60, and although I slept 4 hours only, I was not tired of driving! It perfectly matches for long distances!
i lost it when she said, "lots of little cubby holes for all your bits and pieces"
This and the Xc70 is still driven by a lot of people here in Sweden. It never breaks
You've got to love the British accent.
British often sound more precise and tempered with the choice of their words. They also have more variety in their vocabulary.
They speak at a good rhythm, without rushing.
All these assets have to do with a higher level of education and linguistics than the average North American system.
FreedomForce100 k... I appreciate that

Rebecca, grazie di esistere. Guardandoti mi ritorna la voglia di vivere in un mondo nel quale ci sono angeli come te!
One of the best family cars out there.
All Volvos from that era were just perfect. V70 for long distance and for when you to transport a lot of stuff. V60 better suited for urban driving and normal everyday driving. V50 a bit og both. all of them have a lagre storage space.
When she first started reviewing for carbuyer, I would agree with you. Now I look forward to her reviews just as much as Mat. She has come a loooong way and does a great job now.
shut up. the V70 has no negatives

+Nedews Just typical bias towards German brands by motoring journalists, if you can even call them that.
i just found out that facelift model gets touch screen
Except my handbrake locking on at Tesco, my fuel tank spout corroding, no lumber Support, alarm going off at 3am, headlight sprayer comically shoots over the bonnet and offsude rear passenger door doesnt lock. Apart from that, yeah great
oh nice...never expect V70 has such a sporty and refreshing look and good review
Agree, cute reviewer and I love V70s. I've gone from 745T, 945T, 855T and now the V70. Just can't get my wife out of it long enough to steal it away. Going to trade in the F150 for one as well. Cognito ergo Volvo.
1:02 - 1:06 So is THAT what she's into?
Lol you joker
if you are expecting a bmw or mercedes, the volvo feels as a blunt instrument to drive, i know, i am a mercedes/bmw fan that happens to drive a volvo as a family car,
but where the volvo delivers is when you start to use the car as a family car, they are save. comfy, and just designed to be used, and serve you, and they are a quality product.
Exactly! I hate it when Volvo is compared with BMW and Mercedes. They're practical family cars, and not really a luxury brand. That's what I like about Volvo. Although sadly it seems they abandoned practicality in favour of style and luxury when they replaced the V70 with the V90/S90.
They are. The S60/S80 and V70 are getting major refreshes for the 2014 model year (which means they'll be getting them late 2013). New line of Volvo's upcoming VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) will be included with the XC60/S80/V70/V40/V60/S60/XC70/XC90. The great thing about this is that they were co-developed with Polestar so they should be turning out great performance! :D
I can't believe they didn't mention that it has a 200bhp diesel engine.
The classic estate! A faithful servant.
turning circle:
Volvo 11,3m
Bmw 520 12,0m
Audi A6 11,9m
... ...
+yamahaevo Try the Skoda Superb at 11.1 m (The older Mark II Superb made till 2015 was 10.8 m though) and it's got way more interior space than the Volvo, a better looking interior, 5 star Euro NCAP and it'll cost a lot less to buy and run...
+yamahaevo Just typical bias towards German brands by motoring journalists, if you can even call them that.
+peglor No way more, just a bit more. Better looking interior is just your opinion, it has 5 stars, but newer be safe as volvo is (no small overlap protection, dont have whips system). Its cost less, run same. And u forget one thing, u comparing car from 2015 and 2007.
+Milan Interior is subjective I'll agree, if it scores the same on independent safety testing then whether the Volvo is provably safer again becomes subjective. Since Ford owned Volvo at the time that car was made, I doubt if Volvo were allowed the funding to really make the car stand out in safety terms even if they wanted to. Ford's safety definitely benefited from the purchase though. Running costs for a Skoda are unquestionably lower too - check where Skodas come relative to Volvos (And in fact other VW group cars) on reliability surveys. Even if you assume the cars are equally reliable, Volvo spare parts and main dealer hourly labour rates are significantly higher than Skoda's prices.
People, try to drive straight.. :)
Love the color, finally something different to the usual grey'ish cara around. If I had the need for such a car I'd think about it.
I agree, I’m living the blue. Mine is a light “gold” colour which I don’t mind, since it’s more anonymous.
I had a look at one yesterday, and i could not get comfy in it, since the front seats were to firm, and also the floor was to sloped, to be comfy, which meant you had to put the front seat back a lot, so the space in the rear got pretty cramped, sadly it was the same in 2007, when this car came out, guess i noticed it more, since i am taller, but it was not a car for me, strange since Volvos used to be so comfy before, and the older volvos also had a lot of space, in them , namely the 740, and 850s for example.
My gooosh.... I'm in love with this British lady
Me too
Hands off our women! :-)
She's got domestic hotness.

Yes, she seems quite kind.
Going old school here, Volvo 245 for life ;)
1:08 she forgot to show the secret compartment under the secret compartment, it stores a spare tyre and a jack :)
I love a good Volvo estate. Great review, as always!
Coming to this in 2023 makes a refeshing change, no silly infotainment screen and a realisation that 10 years ago all the modern gizmos were there in a better package.
That Volvo is top quality! The looks say it all!
I'm in love! She's truly dazzling! And I'm not talking about the car!
oh, the Volvo is beautiful
Recently had a big crash in a 2007 Volvo V70 same model as this and lone and behold the airbags all failed to deploy luckily the seat belt pretensioner did saving me from serious injury. The volvo was a tank and smashed the kia sportage that pulled out me straight onto it's roof.
Muss ihr absolut Recht geben. Der Wendekreis ist enorm und das Lenkgefühl sehr diffus.
Ich fahre selber den V 70 R-design als D5....
I love how she says "bits and pieces"!
Kragoon lmao
The Volvo v70 was the best selling Volvo ever now the v90 came…
I like the color of this volvo... Stylish dash as well
@nickcampbell they are called Volvo Ocean Storm
Love that new color! Unfortunately, it's not available in the US.
Can it carry a euro-palatte in the boot when seats are up?
Not necessarily. Some people watch carbuyer on regular basis (just like me and you) but most people will probably look for a review of a car they are interested in - and if then she says "you all know how tall I am" - it will mean nothing. Keep it up Rebecca - good job!
Polstar trim? Looks good
Nice to see a different colour from all the silver, grey and black cars, but I think darker colours go better with large cars and I reckon dark metallic blue would look a lot better ;-)
Yes indeed, the V70 has beautiful lines.
Moaning because you couldn't get it round a mini-roundabout? For goodness sake. It's an estate car not a hatchback....what did you expect? It's just one of the things you get used to with a long vehicle. Not a negative as such.
Carbuyer - bringing the newest cars for you ... =D 1st xc90 and then v70, both just arrived to market
Essa cor ficou bkna, belo carro!
wish they still had these in the US
.we still own a 1991 Volvo 240 estate, 21 years old and still works
Hey. Can anyone tell me the name of those wheels? I need them desperately.
Dont hate on the Rebel blue color :) its awesome
You are sitting to near the streering wheel, you are going to get hurt when the air bag pops out.
The steering wheel is supposed to be light... thats the point with servo
The only issue is that those safety features that were added on the test model are thousands of pounds to get fitted at the dealer.
is that soap in the centre console?
2014 review on a '12 plate? First v70 since Geely takeover in 2010.
@apalsenberg but she did mention large loads....
Yeah indeed. I've seen several car reviewers fail on this part with Volvo.
thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou wanted this one for a long time
Shouldn't the power tailgate be the other way around
5 series link doesn't work at 4:00
Evening, CarBuyer. Have you ever considered doing a review of a Nissan Pixo?
the spoiler is very cool!
I agree, it´s not up to par with the latest Volvo exterior design´s - was also thinking hey is that an old review or what ?.
this box does 62MPG? :))
This car looks awesome
My future car. Even it's 2021 . What can you do?
Is it the 1995 v70??? Looks so to me
This was discontinued in the US :(
Looks good in that blue. Good review i want one"
How much is it?
I like this Volvo but don't like the instrument cluster. I prefer the older analogue style dials.
Haha you kidding me! Those are not downsides, it's not a car that suppose feel full of life on the road so the first downside about the steering is just bullshit. And it's a big and heavy car.. Thats not really hand-in-hand with being flexible in thight spaces so the second downside it just ridiculous. Judge it for what car it is and don't expect it to be what it shouldn't be.
Conclution.. There is no downsides worth pointing out. Sure there are a lot more to see but would take too much time they don't have making these videos. People will find more pros and cons more of a personal view that actual flaws or strengths. The Volvo is pretty much as good as it can be.
Sweden only excels in heavy metal music...let the germans take care of the cars.
Amon Amarth Rules Germans? Swedes makes the Koenigsegg, not fucking germans
I agree about the steering, but having owned Volvos prior to the P2 platform era, the turning circle thing is a disappointment. You used to be able to get Volvos in tight spaces without having to pull wide. From what I have seen, the S/V60 models have rectified that. But I'd love the bigger Volvos to follow suit.
I'd say it's pretty average. It's OK. But as with all Volvos the owners seem convinced that it is the best car in the world. Which it isn't.
***** No, only swedish Volvo owners think it is the best car in the world (which it isn't). They don't need to make cars as long as they have Amon Amarth , Dark Funeral , Smothered , Arch Enemy , Aeon , Dismember , Dissection and Entombed still around :)
Can Mat do Ford Focus RS review sort of as a tribute to Ford cause they are leaving rally.
I mean the RS street version car. I checked you dont have RS video on the channel yet, so you havent done it.
Damn shes fine.
I like the color
Just get aftermarket coilovers and steering wheel sould do the trick. Then you have a really good everyday driver 😁
Rebel Blue or Polestar Blue.
Thank you for the reference. Maybe I am conservative, but wouldn´t be caught dead in this color unless it was a sportscar or something. Always thought the V70 looked its best on some color that was between brown and golden, can´t remember the name.
Anyone please tell me if it has the folding 3rd row seats like the 850 series, thanks.
Pretty sure it doesnt maybe the xc90 do.
A T4 or T5 please. Of course with R-design and in red.
4:03 did i hear i will touch all the right places ? lol
The volvo leather seats are the best in the class, i went from sweden to germany and then back again without any backpain! When i traveled in a bmw 5series with leather seats, after just 2minutes i wanted to get out!
What happendo to the Santa-Fe review? I wanted to show it to my buddy but... it's gone :O!
Guys I need an advice please. I am in a big dilema. I love relaxing and quiet cars. My choice comes to 3 models. Citroen C5 Tourer,Skoda Superb or Volvo V70. All models are around 2010-2011,diesel engines. I am curious if someone had an experiance with this models and which engine/transmission are the best bet. We are family of 4,with 2 car seats at the back,50-50 town/motorway. Soft, quiet ride is my priority, followed by relibility of course. My heart goes to Citroen, but not sure about reliabilty of it,but love the idea of something different. Any advise much appreciated. Regards!
which one did you pick
@@viliboy hey viliboy. Sorry for a late reply. I have choose Citroen mainly because was a lot more cheaper than other two. Hydro is nice, floaty, soft but very harsh on rough surfaces,as I didnt expect that,so that kind a dissapointed me a bit. Other then that,I have 2.0l 140hp manual, pulls and drives nice, but personally I think a 2.2l fits better, since it a heavy car. Quiet inside, and comfortable.
Didnt have a chance to test other two.
@@zakrstcasniisloboduz 10x for the reply. I think I'll pick a Citroen c4 as well since there are too few v70 for sale to choose from here. And I'm afraid the maintenance cost of the Volvo will make me weep.
@@viliboy Volvo parts and servicing is very cheap, very easy car to work on
she has beautiful lines ....
Wel, the Volvo is nice too :) merry Christmas!
My v70 is lovely, yes it's big and yes tight spaces can be difficult however it's a nippy car, it pulls trailer really well and it's so comfy and spaceous its ridiculous. I have horses and I can fit 3 saddles in (two on the back seats and one in the boot) plus all my riding gear, everything I need for going to shows and enough room for a bale of hay too! It turns really well and it's very smart. She says it's a keyless entry, but it's not. The car she is in has a slot for the key and a start/stop button so it's not keyless exactly. It requires the key in the slot to start. It has nice features such as fold in wing mirrors when you lock the car, dimming interior and indicators that you can tap and they click 3 times without having to keep your hand on it or push it fully down.
PLease do a review of the Skoda Superb
That boot closing button is so useful. Said no one ever.
The boot closing button is SO useful. Keeps my hands clean.
Hmm... isn't this V70 based on the older S60? I have 2007 S60 and there is virtually no room on the rear seats, only for smaller people. I don't get it...
She also missed the dog guard, folded against the roof when not in use...
Brilliant cars. Turning circle a little 🤣 interesting though.
Perfect evaluation 👍
i dont care about volvo at all, just watching this because of her. love her voice
well said...
Jaja.. *självklart håller jag med*. Volvo fantast här!
I usually just come to watch the gorgeous Rebecca, but for once there is actually a car I like also. This Volvo is nice.
Had the D5, absolutely drank petrol 10+ litres per 100km and I drive like a pensioner
Best estate on the market in my opinion:)
@scruffynerfherder90 I have to say her reviews do seem rather scripted but the reason she doesn't go on about suspension set up and it drivetrain is because it's a review of what the car is like to live with and the practicality of the car not how fast it can go into a corner or can it pull massive slides.
the car is very nice but I couldn't keep my eyes off her throughout the whole video! she is gorgeous!
Two weeks without a Rachel review :-(
nice car... beautiful rebecca..
And where is a Mat?Maybe at Autoexpress......
