Calling it now, we're getting a Thalia, Bunny Guardian of Bloomburrow
Great, another cartoon bunny that I’ll be uncomfortably attracted to…
😂😂😂
Plot twist: Thalia turns into a rabbit, and Gitrog turns into a dashing prince, and only human on the plane
Bolas is the one "trapped in the forever plane" (Ugin's Meditation Realm), and Ugin is staying there to guard him and keep him from ever escaping or regaining his power. So that's why no Bolas or Ugin for a while.
Like I imagine Bolas will escape or something at some point, but it'll probably be like a big dealio rather than a random show up in a set.
Yeah. I low key think Bolas is going to be the main villain of the Dragonstorm arc, and that he managed to get free thanks to Omenpaths.
Yep I believe ur right
My number one bloomburrow prediction that I’ve said since I heard about the set is that there will be an animal helping the main group that at the end follows them out and we find out they are a main character that maybe even lost memory. You said it but I’m calling garruk bear or wolf or wolverine or something.
This could be an interesting way to make a long-lost villain return as a surprise cliff hanger ending to the story
Karn would obviously be a little stone dog. Think about it: Created to be a companion (in part), defined by loyality, capable of defending his master. He's got big dog energy, as to most golems.
Engaging the algo for the extended theme song!
Further engaging the algo for the extended theme song. (it's your favorite magic channel's favorite magic channel).
Bars
its okay to say "tribal" bro. We said it for 30 years and it wasnt a problem.
I would turn Karn in a little tortoise with a silver carapace.
Or a metal Blastoise!
Im sure Kharn will turn in to a rock on bloomborow
Bolas is in the prison realm desparked and Ugin is his jailer for the remainder of his mortal life. It has now become a prison for Ugin and Bolas, alike - they cannot leave it. But just to be certain that Bolas will never plague the multiverse again, Ugin will keep watch over his brother until Bolas' natural death in thousands of years.
The vibe of this set is reminding of Eldraine. I agree that it should be on a high powerlevel
I found a dead mouse in my apartment parking lot right after you said the Mickey magic part. The prophecy is started
All I want is cute art. That will be the win for me. I've loved Redwall since I was a kid and love small critters/humans stories. Can't wait
I want swarms and packs and flocks. Single, fairly costed, cards that drop two or three (or more) bodies on the board.
I'd also love a new tap cycle 'warrens of the ', 'burrows of the ', etc that tap to give either mana *or* can be tapped to create a 1/1 chump of whatever kindred corresponds to the color pair.
This feels like it should be the widest of the wide weenie sets.
I imagine there will be so many tokens in this set.
Sunfall would like to know your location.
Garruk was in the sidelines of a recent set. The card The Huntsman's Redemption in Wilds of Eldraine was reference to his adventure with Kellen or something. I'm not certain. But I agree he'd be awesome as a Squirrel or something.
I want tribal multi color lands “comes into play untapped if you control a wizard, soldier, cat, etc.”
I want tribal synergy back into standard. I remember the days of elves, merfolk, saplings being standard decks.
Yes!!! Bring back tribal. The main reason tribal has fallen through is multiple things. Too many cards are individually powerful. I.e. sheoldred. And sets are now individualized rather than being blocks. Synergies don't have a chance to really be fleshed out. Lastly wotc just isn't designing good tribal cards in standard.
Except maybe rogues
I would love to see a cycle of kindred lands like: "Comes into play tapped unless you reveal a mouse card from your hand. Taps for {R} or {W}"
Bro I’ve never heard the full bar of your rap that went hard 😂
The fursona bonus sheet.
Yes you are 110% right about high power level. I want a three cost ( 2and a g or 3 g doesn't matter) 7/5 trample, reach, death touch treefoolk and yes powerful new snow covered shock/ dual/ tri/ bolt lands 😃
_Sorin_ would totally be a cute little _Mirkwood Bat_ hanging upside down from a branch.
Incoming “Bolas, devourer of cute innocent creatures”.
Karn turns into a Car from the movie Cars. Hes gonna have his own sub type “Carns”
Karn would obviously be a cool clockwork owl that goes on adventures. Like just Bubo from Clash of the Titans
With regard to dual lands, I actually would like them to just put shock lands back in standard. They’re not new, but they’re great, and I’d love them back in standard.
I hope THIS set has changelings. I know it won’t, but I can always hope
Regarding anthems, how about a cycle of cheap mono-colored enchantments that anthem every guild/creature type featured in the set? So a green and 1 for an anthem that hits whatever creature types correspond to gruul, selesnya, simic, and golgori, with a second notably-green feature.
That may make them good for standard and perhaps commander in spots, but not crazy for everything (anything?) else.
A new cycle of lands could be something like lands that tap for two colors and can be sacrificed for a third color
Your last point is precisely why single set blocks are a bad idea. We need two sets to adequately explore ten guilds.
My theory is that they will print a cycle of dual lands like fortified beachhead that will enter untapped if you have a member of a certain creature type in hand or on the field
Or one that taps for only a specific tribe because they just printed one for vampires
I want them to reprint Wizard's lightning as Otter's Lightning just for the art
I may be mistaken, but Bolas still has his spark, as does Ugin. War of the Spark ended with Ugin making the sacrifice play by trapping Bolas and himself in Ugin's relam with the Immortal Sun, which stops planeswalkers from planswalking.
Excited for Bloomburrow preview season, can't wait! 🥳👏
Love these videos and will watch it after work 😊
Oh snap! Tapping that notification asap!
The coffee cup and longer intro song both feel like such teases. lol
I hope the tribes actually kick ass. Tribal decks can be so cool but they're not usually good in standard. This set has strong tribal themes, so let the tribes be strong.
For your first point I was initially thinking "Dev, you crazy. We don't need a big power creep set." but I think you've talked me into it. New Standard, new baseline. I want something that can shake up the format so we're not seeing the same decks that were top of the meta remain on top.
I actually think a good shake-up would be something based on creature types though; they can be as self-contained as you want them to be. The Selesnya Enchantments deck from NEO or the Bant Toxic deck from ONE - just an all-new deck crashing in and demanding notice, despite being (essentially) a block constructed deck. Maybe Izzet Otters becomes the new hotness that people have to start considering.
Also, just thinking nice and cynical business dude-like; the cute animal set might draw in more attention than the usual. If you make a sort of Block Deck here, it might kickstart Standard from people just opening the set and building from what they've got. Lord of the Rings probably tried and sure did sell better than everything else, but was a rough entry point because Modern is a tough format. Maybe Bloomburrow.deck remains relevant for three years.
Considering the theme, I think it'd be great to have duals with the types that gain your opponent 3 life. We could call them healing duels (in honor of Healing Salve) 🤷♀️
Based on the uncommon lands, the guilds and their respective animal types are;
WU - Bird
WB - Bat
WG - Rabbit
WR - Mouse
UB - Rat
UG - Frog
UR - Otter
BG - Squirrel
BR - Lizard
GR - Racoon
I would love to get one specific reprint - Lightning bolt. Come on Wizards, give us bolt!
Amazing video and amazing channel! Keep up the great work
As long as the art is good, and we're headed down to flavourtown, I'll be happy. Ideally there'll be enough in terms of critters to help give note options to gimmick tribals too
As far as land reprints go, I wouldn't mind seeing something the like check lands come back (Glacial Fortress and friends) since we haven't seen them in a while and they would make a solid replacement for the slow lands.
As for new lands I would like to see ones that care about the creature type, either as an ability or a way to come into play untapped.
My guess is the legendary creatures will be the guild leaders and all the typal creatures that correspond to that leader will be in those colors but mono colored so if you like frogs and bats you can do blue black frogs and bats black green frog bats or blue white and green white and the commander ones in the set will probably have a third color associated with them to hit the story beats and give more reason for players to play their old typal cards in the color or to help push older cards or cards in recent previous sets
I want to see Narset as a kitten with the name, "Nyaset of the Hidden Pounce" A beast lord in Jeskai colors who gives beast creatures 2x prowess. Lol
Your various alliterations never fail to provide us with palpations
I think possibly the best use of Karn on Bloomburrow would be for him to be the straight man on Bloomburrow
So, what you want, and what were getting, is to see what everyone's fursona is.
I like the way this is going.
I just want them to make a card, or maybe re-skin the one guy from legends, or his knock-off from DMU that's a breakfast tiger, and make his art just the most muscle bound shirtless deviant art nonsense. Then, follow it up by giving us a set-specific board wipe like Apocalypse Chime, but just call it Shame, or better yet, it turns all your non-humans into 1/1 or 0/1 humans, just so WotC can let us know that they know that we know (I know... that was awkward) what they're doing here.
i want cards that can't be countered. there are a bunch of creatures that have ways to protect themselves from being destroyed, but so very few that protect themselves from being countered.
100% & also we need more ways to frustrate mono-red. I want to see a meta where midrange stomps both control & aggro.
I'm excited for some new cards for my modern squirrel tribal deck
If we do not get big Grizzly bear Garruk I will riot- I wanted him with a steel chair in MoM, give me big bear Garruk cowards
What I want. Strong 1 drop green and black creatures. More options to remove artifacts in black. New black sweeper to replace path to peril. Green lifelinker.
What I don't want. No new white sweepers. Take a day off ffs. No new impactful U/W cards at all in fact. Yall can have a 1/5 flyer for 4 mana, best we can do. Red, idgaf it all dies to removal anyways.
Sincerely,
Golgari Mid Range
Sure the comparisons to lorwyn will continue but what if you did dual lands like ancient amphitheater for every creature type? Reveal a (insert type) or it enters tapped like fortified beachhead for soldiers?
Given what little we've seen, I think we might have one or two "signpost" typal matters for each of the color pairs that also bring their own bonus. Mabel is a lord for Mice, but she also just comes in and creates an equipment token that she can slap on so you can treat her as a five mana 4/4 with vigilance, trample, and haste. Otherwise, I think the more heavy typal payoffs will likely be in the Commander precons. We've already seen 4 creatures in Bloomburrow, and of them, only Mabel is a typal payoff, since Lumra the bear is all about lands, Bria the otter a rogue with prowess that gives everything else prowess and makes things unblockable, and Byrke the rabbit is all about spreading and doubling +1/+1 counters via attacking.
I always enjoy this series!
That's an extremely Me thing, but I wanna see Arlinn in the set and story. Predators in that plane are kinda the big bads and it would be nice contrast to have a friendly wolf helping the protags? Would be interesting design space too. Probably not gonna happen lol but super excited for the set nonetheless ^^
I think the animal planeswalkers were not explained well.. Lore wise what makes the most sense is that the planeswalkers are just changing their appearance to blend into the animal world of bloomburrow, since planeswalkers appearance is just a mental projection, they can look however they want
So the one big disagreement I’ve got is the desire to see more main set returning characters. I’m honestly a little tired of seeing characters from, like, Ravnica on every single plane.
Bonus sheet, though? Alternate universe, alternate art treatments? Yes please.
Since you like dank Jank, check this out. I think I found a deck that nobody else has found, AND it’s good:
Deck
2 Vaultborn Tyrant (BIG) 20
7 Mountain (USG) 343
4 Play with Fire (MID) 154
3 Professional Face-Breaker (SNC) 116

1 Black Market Tycoon (SNC) 167
3 Security Rhox (SNC) 220
1 Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance (NEO) 276

Dev, you fool. Bloomburrow was last year. It’s Duskmounrne spoiler season now.
You joke but this is a version of an actual recurring nightmare I have
Karn turns into a toy wind-up monkey with symbols and a fez. Great question.
Looking forward to seeing some more rabbits! Love the wild speculation going on here.
Lands are such an outdated concept that WoTC won't let go of. "I just want to cast my stuff" is so spot on
What's the alternative? Everyone gets to cast whatever they want for free, with no regard to color or power?
How about creatures that make it so when any creature of their type leaves the battlefield, it triggers…something? Draw a card…make a squirrel…or something like that - would love to see something that neuters sunfall. Too bad that would probably be super breakable.
The furry Planeswalkers seem like something sure. I can see a Locus with a kindred mechanic, as a reprint to the uncommon land that is rotating.
Quintorius and Ajani... what would it happen to them in Bloomburrow?, Do they stop being humanoids? Do they become close but tiny animal relatives? Ajani can be a cat, and Quint one of the smalles closer relatives to Elephants, there are a few ones.
I would say that bats are WB, I can see frogs UG.
Possums in Gruul colours. If you know, you know.
I am hoping they handle typing by using umbrella words such as 'Rodent' to make the cards more flexible and effective. This should lessen the amount of cards referring to type to make space for other fun stuff.
If Karn goes to Bloomborrow he becomes a tin can that a goat is munching on.
Garruk = honey badger 🦡
Bolas = nah you right ,evil raccoon
Ugin = good raccoon?
Liliana = goth Lola bunny 😏
Kiora = [censored for the algorithm]
1-5 playable frogs 😊
I would love to see Edgar Markov as a vorpal rabbit.
I really just want a nice relentless rats or rat colony reprint that won't be a special guest and cost an insane amount :P
Please talk about your hopes and fears for the duskmourn. Thanks brotha
I am so hype for bloomburrow and duskmourn man
karn would be a toy motorcycle, also the dragons would become lizards or chickenfolk
If Blue/White Sunfall and Domain/Reanimate Atraxa are dominant, then the only counter to that would be hyper-aggro (mono red, Boros, etc.) and that would be quite sad. They might need to ban Sunfall from Standard.
Fun fact: Yeah, you're right, planeswalking makes you adhere to the plane's rules of existence, but omenpaths ignore this. So if you walk through an omenpath, you'd be a normal-size, lame human. A bear-Garruk would be hilarious.
EDIT: Too bad Kiora lost her spark. Big sad.
The elk is coming back and the king is reborn
At this point if the set doesn’t have a mechanic that’s similar to adventure (giving card modality) it’s not gonna be too good
Ugin, Spirit Bunny - that would be awesome.
Karn as a Turtle because he has that collar that kind of looks shell like
Id most like to see wizards announce that they've hired some actual magic players to monitor the state of stadard and recommend cards to ban. Because saying standard is healthy shows how out of touch they are.
It's been a while since Snakes have mattered.
I feel like there’s a great chance to reprint Edgar markov as a little bat in this set
I think the problem with 4 color tap-lands is just -- why not 5 colors then? (5:39)
(11:30) Lmaoooo. Maybe Karn would be a metal animal like something from power rangers. Or idk, a colorless turtle. Oh my god wait -- Barn. He's a building artifact named "Barn". Alternatively: a legendary creature bird named "Barn, Owl"
I would personally love to see a new Squee card. Squeek, the Immortalon
I want Crawlspace reprinted into Standard in this set!
Hear me out… Dual tapped pathways; but they share one color on each side so red/blue - red/green or blue/white - blue/black. “Fair” 3 color mana fixing
Karn would just be a rock..
No expression... No emotion... Just a solid rock... With a very serious face on the rock.
Also emrakul would be a bowl of spaghetti. Nice a cute on a table with warm bread over candle light
Tri color pathways… so one side would be black and red the other would be black and blue or something
WOE had each archetype flavored around a fairy tale - like all the BG Food cards were themed around Hansel & Gretel/Sweettooth. LCI had the UR Pirates archetype that was mostly an artifact deck, but some of the Pirates you'd pick up could also care about or buff other Pirates even if they worked on their own. I expect Bloomburrow's typal to feel like a mix of the two. Like, there's probably a UR spells deck where all the prowess dorks are Otters and all the cheap spells show otters casting them, so you just naturally want to put the otters in one deck anyway.
If this makes a new standard deck viable like mice kindred I'm 100% building it!!
Karn turns into a pet rock
Ugin is in the Prison Realm with Nicol Bolas iirc
I think we will get kindred check dual lands.
On the thought on 4 color lands. What about dual pathways. So two colors on one side and two colors on the other.
100% agree I want bloomburrow to be a powerful set I want to see something new on arena
Is there any chance for faeries on bloomburrow or would they just be like... moths or something? I was hoping to make dimir faeries more of a thing post rotation but i bet we aren't getting any more in this set
For your 4 color lands just don’t give them land types, for the love of god. You can have a land that taps for white, black, red and green. Just don’t make it a Plains Swamp Mountain Forest that can be fetched by every fetch land and single-handedly gives you 4/5 Domain.
Dual land comes in untapped if a creature entered this turn. Gg done
What does Elesh Norn Animorph into ?
Karn becomes an Armadillo
