    improving running technique, improving lifting technique, improving muscleup technique, improving handstand walking technique, improving swimming technique... the list goes on. it's easy to say they could benefit from each one of those, but the thing is, they would have to improve ALL of those. These girls and guys also only have 7 days in a week and human recovery capacities. They probably shoot for "good enough" most of the time, because they are by definition not specialists.

      TBF, that's what they have been sold for ages. I'm not defending CF (I'm not a fan and that's a huge euphemism), but if the higher ups hadn't been feeding the general practicionners with this BS, it would not be so widespread...I think it is getting better, the CF games themselves being a case in point when some editions expose the limitations (who remembers the first time they put peg boards or swimming? lol).

      @@liz9147 back in the days, CF's narrative was literally saying it makes you good at ANY sports, and was called "the sport of sports". I've seen many CFers come to my boxing gym totally sure they'd crush it because they do metcons all the time...turns out, each sports has specific demands, and while it's important to have GPP, when you don't practice something specifically, well, don't expect to be better at it than those who do. It is common sense, but it wasn't in CF for a long time. I believe they softened their stance on that. Again, when in the very CF games they introduced things like biking, swimming, peg boards etc. it became glaringly obvious. I have a couple friends who own CF gyms, and after these games, they all had peg boards in there (which are collecting dust now lol). I'm not knocking on CF, it brought many people to fitness, it has some unique things it does right, it put a barbell in the hands of people who may never have touched one. It's been real positive, but it doesn't make you good at everything lol.

    • @liz9147
      @liz9147 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@anthonymarconi761 couldn’t agree more. It’s very easy for people to collapse together CF the methodology vs the CF the sport (the annual games), and to to be fair to CrossFit Inc they have been trying to explain the difference to the CF masses for years. What goes on in CF gyms is GPP, not sport-specific, as your boxing friend found out, but tbf he was probably less crushed than if he hadn’t done CF (or anything), and I’m sure he found some respect pretty quickly. Literally part of the CF creed is ‘Regularly learn and play new sports’. I’m sure there are people in lots of sports who have used CF to supplement their own specific training, but it’s certainly not necessary to do so.

    What a stupid and dangeorus event. You don't try and make a technical lift into part of a running circuit.

    Garage strength guy is talking as if these guys/girls donÂŽt already have a training plan or use periodisation. ItÂŽs like watching a high jump specialist complain that the decahletes should be able to jump higher, if only they would do much more tranferable strenght training and focus more on the high jump...

    1st, loved watching this and your other material. Just to punch in on the 500, it is run but it's one of those rarely competed events at the pro level. Indoor has weird distances, you'll see it there alot. For t&f nerds, it's a compelling event to see 400 and 800 guys meeting in the same event. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/500_metres
