I have a small tip for early game A21: you can put an item in a backpack, garbage patch, or bird's nest and then take the loot without breaking the loot container. You can then mine it for resources like cloth, feathers, or polymer.
Actually genius, will remember this, thanks
that's a good idea for the medicine cabinets as well
Great way to get extra feathers! Thanks!
@@84SuperBeast if it lets you harvest acid this way, 10/10
@@Super_Ammo i haven't tested it but according to the video he says the medicine cabinet has to be not looted, but it could just be that it has to still look like the unlooted version. As long as something is still in it then it'll look like the unlooted version
another tip: Don't underestimate the power of wooden spikes. When clearing out infested POIs or tier 3-5 POIs even throwing a couple down before waking up the loot room will help you a SHIT TON. When clearing out big buildings always keep a couple at hand!
@@Esclef I bet you forgot about this comment but gns has been using spikes in his newest series so I bet your happy.
With the pill cases; if you harvest the container for acid it will destroy the loot inside. However, if you search it first and exit without taking it, the loot falls out in a backpack when the container is smashed. You can do this with any container that reverts to a broken variant or is destroyed when looted. Allowing you to, for example, harvest trash for a few extra resources. And if you want to avoid the container breaking and leaving the ugly looted variant... just leave a single item like a piece of wood/stone inside and take the loot you want (just dont press R for take all).
Beat me to it.
Good call
Just a piece of fiber (I’m cheap) works. do this to keep Trader’s looking like new.
Is this acid harvesting thing new in Alpha 21? Because I know in A20 I got plenty of acid from those containers after looting them, and even for blocks that were spawned in as empty.
that's tricky one i like it
I dont know if anybody has already said it but once you get the water filter mod you can safely drink murky water and straight from water sorces like rivers but the real bonus is when drinking river/lake or ditch water dont stop drinking when your water is full if its safe to do so drink as much as possible this can give you massive buffer before your water level decreases
Does it work if it's in your hotbar?
@@michaelgreen8851 this is for the water purifier mod not the water filter you need for the dew collector.
I tried this a day or two ago and found that the buffer will still tick down if your thirst meter is full, but just like drinking from bottles, it will stop at about 3 gulps and only tick down if it is filling your thirst meter.
@@GeneralThe3rd hi I know it tick down fairly quickly but if your in a safe position you can get a water buffer of about 300 to 400 fairly quick and with water being harder to get it eases using your water production for glue ect: it only counts as useful early game when water is like gold dust and of course being able to find or by the water mod and have headgear to fit it to us all down to RNG.
Here’s a tip for everyone. I’ve noticed during clear missions, or any mission where the zombies have a red dot on the compass, the dot will flash red/white when it’s about to go into rage mode. Say you’re attacked by 5 at once and your hacking and slashing at them all, the compass will indicate which ones are about to rage so you can either focus on that particular one or kinda prepare you for a defensive maneuver.
One of the magnum enforcer books also gives you a bonus to bartering if you have a .44 caliber gun in your hand
That's absolutely hilarious
Yeahh here's my coupon right here *shoots at the trader*
"i hear you give discount"
*whips out Magnum*
Oh whoops woah I dropped my monster revolver that I use to get... magnum discounts
I have over 1000 hours in this game and never knew that engines give you 30 mechanical parts when scrapped or that the parking brake even exists.
That was one of the big takeaways for me as well - just under 1,000 hours myself and I didn't know about the parking brake! Very nice. :)
same lol i always keep my bike empty so i can pick it up and run lol
This is an amazing video! Small tips and tricks like these condensed down really can help everyone from beginners to someone who's played the game for hundreds of hours. I've learned at least three or four things after watching this; Simple things I'll kick myself over for not knowing already and which will save me so much time in the future.
OMG after 1100 hours of playtime, i finally know how to remove the quick waypoint...thank you ! 😅
Awesome video again, i would like to see a A21 updated armor guide.
I have 250 hours and yeah.. Same
I never knew that for the longest time either lol... There were times I wouldn't use because I couldn't get it off my map. 😂
THIS LEGIT THIS!
what ? after some couple of hour i've just check google and found
I was prolly at 3k hours before someone told me I could remove my red marker instead of moving it to a new place.
16:05 voiceover says UC Vol 7 but it shows the correct UC Vol 6. Great video and appreciate how you do this for the new and old players alike!
Rocks are so underrated. From day 1 you can go night hunting with nothing but a bow and some rocks sneaking down the middle of the street. Shoot, back away, shoot, back away. Reposition them or get distance with rocks. Or use a rock as a lure. They'll always stop at the spot where you took the first shot, even if you've only moved 10 feet or so. You can kill a bear this way in broad daylight.
I've ditched hoards of zombies just by throwing rocks. Duck around a corner, crouch and throw a rock the other way. Just make sure they can hear it hit the ground and can't see you. They'll chase the rock I once ditched about 30 running zombies by jumping off a roof while throwing a rock the other way and crouching when I hit the ground. They all went for the rock, and I sat 20 feet away watching them mill around.
Zombies beating your house down and you can't get a shot at them? Throw a rock! Even better if you follow it up with a moly where the rock landed. It's hilarious and you can do it all night long. Take your first molotov reward, go into the city a little before nightfall, clear out a building as much as you need. Break the stairs. When night falls make some noise. Fire a gun, whatever. When you get a good-sized hoard, go to a window and toss a rock into the street. Not too far, make sure they can all hear it. Throw one molly and let them all burn. Yeah, they'll immediately come back to beat on the building and more will come. That's just more XP! Rinse and repeat. Give them time between rocks to get reinforcements and keep making noise.
Not keen on night stalking zombies in the street? Find a roof top. Any zombies you see that are too far can be lured with rocks. Take one shot and let them come to you. Chances are they'll stop about 10 or 20 feet away for an easy headshot. Stay crouched, don't make noise when they're coming. Don't shoot at them when they're coming unless they're a good distance away. It won't work 100% of the time, but once you do it a few times, you'll get the hang of it learning when you can shoot or move. Sometimes you can get away with it only a few blocks off the ground and in clear view. Works from day 1 with no stealth ability. I believe they become more aware as the days go by, and you'll need a little more distance, but it'll still work on a 1 story house. Even if they have a path to you it'll work. If they do happen to spot you, they'll already have a couple of stealth bonus arrows in them and be finished off with 1 weapon swipe.
I'll remember this tip when i'm out exploring in the night while my buddies are cowering in the base waiting for night to be over!
I usually just sneak and wait, totally forgot about using rocks as a distraction.
I've also noticed that if you stealth shoot an animal (bye bye cute fluffy bunny) with a bow, nearby zombies will run to it and start gorging, giving an easy stationary target. Downside if you're low on food is that they're eating your supper. Don't know if throwing a lump of meat has the same effect, I keep forgetting to test this.
I like to stalk the Wasteland at night with a sniper's rifle, but even more fun is once the zombies really start to spawn in huge numbers, then herding them with rocks and then putting a rocket in amongst them. Now although XP-per-timewise the time taken to herd them with rocks might be just as well spent sniping them individually, one may easily get several thousand XP in one rocket hit and the sheer hilarity sending zomble-gibs in all directions, i feel, makes it worthwhile.
In the early game, as mentioned, the scareder you are, the more rocks you should throw. It's amazing how often an unseen zombie that would have been a major problem will be flushed from cover. Just make sure you throw the rock hard, because if you drop it at your feet the zombies will absolutely come...to you.
6:20 I recently discovered this ingame and have been abusing it for loot since then.
As a note, if you have anything of yours in that POI, like a base, DO NOT activate the quest marker.
All of your things will vanish in the reset.
Good video. Very analytic and informative.
To abuse poi reset:
- have a vehicle to store items
- loot poi stash
- leave and re-enter game
- activate quest
- repeat
A tip for harvesting with bone knife or hunting knife:
Look away from viscera, then as soon as the animation of the quick attack happens, aim at the viscera, then rinse and repeat. It's a somewhat faster harvest if you get the pattern down
One trick I recently found is the broken street lights can be harvested twice. Once on the light bit, then the base bit making it seem like you harvested two separate.
Here's another good tip for a21: don't get attached to your char until stable comes out.
Much better tip than any of the ones in the vid. 👏
I feel your pain bro! 😅
wdym
@@GeneralShowHD Everything you do now will (probably) be completely wiped when stable comes out. Or at the very least will be heavily incompatible with it so you'll be forced to delete your save anyway (to avoid potential future problems). 👎
Classic TFP move that we veterans have learned to expect by now. 🤷♂
Heads up, people! Stable is out! (finally) 🙌
So start the download asap... 😜
GNS always leading the way, such quality in all your work
Don't forget about the .44 magnum that also helps with trader dealings
i have learned so much in so little time i have to pause and play thank you so much i know it's an old video but this game is so deep this still helps almost a year later crazy how you can still learn on this game
I love the tip for riding the bike backward to save on stamina. That’s great!
I might be the only one who does this, but you can 'pre-dig' a buried supplies quest easily in a flat area, just go directly down from the bouncy ! Mark until you hit stone layer, then clear out a small cave area before activating the quest, the buried chest will appear in the stone layer. People assume the dirt reappears when you activate the quest, but it doesn't (at least in A20 it didnt, haven't checked A21 yet)
Yeah... it's faster and it still works.
My go to way of remembering trader day is very simple, just think of the multiples of 3 + 1; you don't have to do mental gymnastics, just go 3+1 = Day 4, 6+1 = Day 7, 9+1 = Day 10 etc
What are trader days? I get that’s when he restocks but what’s beneficial about it
Trader day means they have new merchandise. Every three days they get restocked. Or by default every day there is an air drop is a trader day. ;)@@aonriu2349
Yes 2nd grade math 😂
Awesome work you did here again. Thank you!❤
You can adjust glitch the animation when harvesting with the knife by looking away when you click the mouse button, then move the cursor onto the thing you're harvesting before the animation "impacts" to harvest faster.
Hello, i started the game a few weeks ago and i finally found a tip for magazines : search the letter boxes in front of homes, they often contains one or two magazines and it's very helpfull at the beginning of the game.
Got the notification, clicked and liked. Thank you! I use logs all the time!
Ahh. The UL base. I loved that one Tem! These videos are awesome as always.
Great video...now I understand the four pillars trick!
Great video, I had a bit of a knowledge gap about Trader stage and Trader specialization, thanks for the knowledge!
My favorite a20 farming shape is the full duct. it has full hp and you can have a flat roof. If you've ever tried taking off in a gyro over bars you know why.
HEY LOVE YOUR VIDEOs iv been playing since alpha 14 and every alpha after I knew you could stack buffs but didn't know they could be the same thanks man 👍
This was a huge help. I’ve been struggling in my game.
I'm not sure if this is well known or not but i'm an avid bow user and this is how: Stealth, Hit, move away while maintaining stealth (should be far enough that they don't aggro based on proximity), once they reach where you were repeat from step 2. This stealthing away from where you were should give you another opportunity to perform a stealth attack with multiplier and all.
8:45 Great tip, I usually use frame blocks to save on clicks because I normally already have them crafted
i right click the stack of wood to split it, then split it again till i have a nice amount, then just shift and left click to move to workstation, saves on clicks
There is some information that I did not know even. Awesome Video!
Something that was shown but not explained at 1:25 is that when using a bone knife, the animation is different depending on if you are harvesting or not harvesting. The harvesting animation is very slow, so by starting the animation away from the animal, then moving the cursor mid-swing results in a much faster harvest
Fantastic vide, learned a LOT as I'm still a fairly new 7DTD player, cheers!
8:40 nailgun and hammer get more repair value from each swing as levels go up
Thank you for telling me how to remove the quick waypoint lol. I was going crazy over it
Thank you for the tips! Very informative.
Super great list of information! Loved it! One I'd like to add for a future video perhaps? Gasoline. Seems to have been greatly reduced in A21. With A20 and previous you could scrap any vehicle and get a LOT of gas off of them but now it seems that if the car is a new model and looks trashed, it won't yield ANY gas, but the new ones that look intact will but the gas amount seems to be much less?
There are also some of the older models and regardless of condition, they all seem to give gas as well.
Any other observations or corrections to what I've noticed? =)
good tips, I honestly knew all of these but forgot about some as an old 7dtd player, like i knew about flattening terrain with frames but completely forget about it, lol.
I wish they would record voice lines for the Traders' opening and closing heads-ups. I mean, one for Trader Jen, Trader Joel, etc, respectively.
As well as cigar, awesome sauce and sugar butts; Magnum Enforcer book 4 gives an extra 5% bartering when you have it drawn while talking to trader
Seen a lot of your videos recently, decided to check the game out again,
hadn't played since a couple years back.
Only just now learning about the shaped blocks thing lol
Don't feel bad. That's a new thing.
Wow. Thanks so much. Been playing since 2015, but learned more than a few things.
I like that u put the undead legacy base as the finale shot there. that base was super cool i wish base game had the things that most mods have like more cars and elevators. I would totally build cool things with the elevators
Thanks for your tips! I'll share it with my friends :)
That was a quick watch but I bet it was a TON of work for you to put together. Thanks!
I haven’t played this game in a long time but it’s crazy they still have the og door opening sound
0:52
After the medium progress i switched the package mods out and get the skill done so i can have heat and frost protection mods in to get better usability in all bioms.
Best of choise to switch then. :)
3:25
You forgot about the revolver while selling after getting the right book.
Great tips! Especially the one about which trader/poi carry which books! I don't understand the tip about the digging and placing the 4 blocks though, doesn't the circle already indicate which way to dig?
best tip on alpha 21 ive seen so far thanks
This tip video is amazing! Thank you!
Trader's have a map icon that you can enable after you visit them, but that only shows up on the compass when near them and the map screen (if I recall correctly)
OMG I did not know about the EBREAK that is amazing. total game changer
after LS290 it is still sometimes worth going into higher tier POIs. While your getting no boost form your loot stage there is some POIs that are just better to run though if you know how to clear them easy or how to skip large sections of them.
Also this depends heavily on the type of gear you already have. If you are able to quickly break through a vault door or hatch then several high end POI become a 5 minute raid for their loot stash and most hospitals and factories have their look stashed at the top. Nerd pole your way up there and grab the goods and run.
as someone who is still learning everything so i can teach my cousins how to play i thank you
even if i forget some stuff i can show this video to them
Quick tip for looting crack a books, just open and take all and once you notice your inventory starting to fill take a second to go through the books. With enough material and a decent horde base I start I almost speed through higher tier POIs so I can get to the main loot because I take a day getting the specific items if I'm low. Enough money and you'll never need to mine for oil shale. Respec your points away from mechanic when you've built all the vehicles. Build 2 of each vehicle and store the copies ?
Great vid, thank you so much !
Good to know that the vault doors still work to modify zombie pathing :)
Great tips! This helped me a lot!
13:26 I bet that's because the old system used 3 digit quality numbers and they've "simplified" quality levels now to only single digits but the background math still looks at the old 3 digit system and you get slightly different results based on the rounding.
Fantastic Video & Great Explanations
your infos are super interesting and good, thank you very much !
Got my first A21 'good start' last night! (Day 4 and still alive, that's a good start, lol)
I didn't know crouching when mining produces less heat, that's a pretty cool tip, thanks!
What's up Primate! 👋
@GunsNerdsandSteel Hey mate, been binge watching your vids over the past week. Some amazing content, learnt a lot 💪
Bro omg I’ve never played this game before I came to this video looking for like a guide on how to craft or something I did not realize how huge this game is
Cool boxes are a great source of early game cash. Craft them from plastic in stacks of 3. Make 180 dukes per stack, per trader. Every little helps.
Rapidfire of information. Great. Thanks
I have over 300 hours in 7 Days, and I still learned a few new things during this video, such as the parking brake, I never knew about holding space to set it, just that it worked as a moving brake. Good stuff!
I have over 3000 between console and PC and still learn new stuff through videos
@@w0lf1969 I have over 30,000 hours and still learned a few things.
@@rottenapple_ Okay that's just worrying, I have 7K and I thought I might have a problem 😁
I am unsure but your trick of pressing the shift and tapping the W key also seems to work for the motorcycle: you have better speed but use less fuel
I think the stumps have been nerfed. I'm getting maybe 1 out of 10 honey at best. Checked at least 100 so decent sample size.
Same
The patch notes say there has been a rebalancing of food and water in loot. Perhaps they “rebalanced” the honey drop and didn’t say so specifically since it is a good food item as well as healing item.
My odds were more of 1 out of 4-5
I feel I get way more honey now. I get a honey every second or third stup now.
For sure! I used to get honey 50/50 out of a stump. It was pretty straightforward, you get infected, you look for tree stumps. Now at best it's a 1 in 10 chance. Only found 1 honey in 15 stumps
Great video man!
I think u can complete any quest level to gain bonuses from current level. If youre on tier 3 quest u can actually complete lvl 2 quests and eventually get reward for compleening tier 3 quests as example.
Wrench powerattack now correctly (and sadly) pause stamina regen, so using it will tire you out way faster than it did in A20.
@GunsNerdsandSteel Dew collectors generate heat as well.
bro your first tip answered my number one question thank you
Great Video as always!
I think a video of blocks, their abilities, shoot through them, etc etc would be incredibly helpful.
I missed the change to scrapping guns and tools for parts, glad they also made them take far less parts to craft. God needing a massive pile to craft a tier 5 sucked.
I am brand new to the game and have learned a lot from this. I have taken to calling the game 7 ways to die since I seem to find a different way every time I log on
lool bless
thank you for all these valuable information
omg i finally know how to get mechanical parts! i'm like level 30 and don't even have a bicycle!
i put all the mechanical parts i found into a workbench and can't for the life of me find two more for a bicycle
At what POI are you at minute 6:40 (18. Storages)? It looks great and sturdy and I think it's the same from your "Everything New in Alpha 21 7 Days to Die" video.
Great videos, thanks!
Fantastic job on the video
GNS mentioning Navez bridges reminds me of pre 18 Alpha.
Bridges were so unstable just walking across the bridges they would collapse. Or building a base on it was ok then a zombie smacks the rail and the base fell in the river or the grand canyon.
lol ouch...makes for a bad day...good to know though lol.
I strictly came here because this one had the most views, I’m sure your content is great but I haven’t watched it. I just wanted to voice my opinion. I love this game and get hooked on it off and on with breaks between not being able to play on a world I spent so much time on. I understand development and all that but I got this game not knowing what it was when ps4 was in its infancy and this still happens, at least the last time I played it did. This is the last chance I’m giving this game, very fun, very time worthy, but make some decisions. And maybe work on not letting players down this way, probably won’t do much but I’ve been here for almost 10 years I’d like to keep my server. ❤ much love to the devs I hope y’all figure it out and I love the updates that surprises me every time I play.
Bears are great for leather and meat early game. I've had good luck [in the past at least no idea if it's changed.] I would build a "diving board" column up at least 4 blocks, then out the full 8, make sure you have more than 50 stone arrows, and start shooting from the end of the diving board. he will mostly stay below you, occasionally attack trees but rarely go after the support pillar. easy dinner. early game.
No matter what weapoin I'm going to play, I always go archery for early game. it's great damage it's at range, and the ammo is very available. ALWAYS crouch, to get that sweet damage multiplier. before long you'll one shot a lot of zombies. the hunting bow has a much better trajectory, making it easier to aim once you learn it's ballistics. Remember; chickens are FULL of feathers! [and pretty easy to shoot.[
Are you a hoarder like me? don't hesitate to set down a storage crate in front of a POI but like Tem said. put it on the roadway. and mark it on the map so you can snag it later. most everything in this game has a use. and being able to go back and nab tons of loot you just...didn't need at the time, but pulled from houses anyway can be great time savings down the road.
There are a lot of canned foods that are good for advanced recipes. none more useful than canned peas. I don't know why but at least HALF of the "canned superfoods" use it. shamchowder is one of the few foods that would have a stat buff [whether it does in A21 I don't know yet.]
I think I was told that crafting scrap lead into junkturret ammo sells for more. I was not finding that to be the case. can it be confirmed? 300 lead, for 60 dukes or 100 junk ammo worth 300 lead for 60 dukes. [if memory servers.]
Amazing video, thank You.
2k hours and I learned 2 new things! Thanks :)
Great set of tips!
Top right of the trade menu also shows you when the restock day is, same with vending machines.
if you max out light armor and equip a customs fitting mod you actually end up increasing movement speed and stamina regen.
Excellent video. The only thing I would do different is explain how to open the command menu. This video is for people beginners too, right?
I love how bridges are now a unique POI while early days 7D2D had a lot of bridges which also would fall apart often when you walk over them...
nice tips! now I'm off to build a basement garden!
08:09 Oh oh - that was my escape plan.
02:34
An alternative formula can be by simple identifying if the day before your current day is a multiple of 3.
I dont want to know how many hours you put into this! ;) Awesome video!
Outstanding!
