My Modular Journey - Season 3: Episode 14 (Tempi)

  • I purchased the MAKENOISE Rene 2 over two years ago, and even then I knew the TEMPI module was on the wishlist, mostly because nearly every Rene video I saw had a Tempi parked next to it; so to me, this said the two modules pair well together. In fact, they certainly do! I finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) and picked up my own Tempi clock/pulse source to stick next to my lonely Rene 2 3D Cartesian Sequencer.
As of this video, I am really only using 2 of the 6 (SIX!) outputs of Tempi for Rene 2, and maybe once in a while I use one of the other 4 outputs for something else in the Sequence rack. It's just an amazing tool for quickly getting things in sync, and now thanks to making this video (thus forcing myself to learn), I now see how easy Tempi is to use and program - even for a Human.
    Important Note:
During this video, I complained about how Tempi is "always running", there is no start/stop option, but I knew there had to be a way. While writing this description, I found a demo for that below (Voltage Control Lab)
    Important Note #2:
I also did not talk about the Select Bus capabilities of Tempi + Rene 2, simply because I do not use that functionality (yet), and do not have bus boards capable of communicating this data. Maybe when I start using these features, I will talk about them in the future. Just know the capabilities exist.

    Note from MAKENOISE:
    - Also available: Isolated Select Bus Cable. This cable allows Select Bus connectivity of TEMPI and René 2 when the CV Bus (aka Select Bus) Lines are already in use by Doepfer, Tip-Top or other modules not compatible with the Select Bus, or when a system does not have these lines included with power distribution.

    ⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️
This video series is not an endorsement or a recommendation for which modular gear YOU should try. This is only my experience and the option(s) I chose to pursue. If you blow yourself up, do not blame me.

To stop a Tempi Channel press A
and press the channel you want to to stop
That channel will be red and stopped
Same process as making a channel mod enabled
Which You would press B then select channel to be modded It would turn purple
If channel is modded and stopped it will be pink
    Really intuative once learned
but the deeper stuff gets non intuative as you said but its extremely powerful
    Cheers Great video series
    Cool Approach and Style

That's lame your power solution doesn't support Doepfer standard bus comms. Pretty sure the Malekko stuff uses it too. Thanks for the link to making Tempi stop/start.

I do have a Doepfer DIY kit which has this capability, I just haven't used it yet. The Behringer case and my custom case build just do not have those bus boards in them. My DIY is for... a special project 😈

(side note) G.A.S. Alert: Have you seen the Traffic module from Jasmine and Olive Trees? Looks interesting.

@@VisionsMusicGroup I have really two modules on my wish list right now. Whimsical Raps 3 Sisters and the intellijel Sealegs.
