Thank you so much for mention me. Dragenkunst just means Dragon art. The street I live in is called Dragon Street. And in this case dragon is a small boat. Oh my, I can really relate to the age thing. I turned 67 and became a pensioner 1/2 a year ago. I started my channel about 2 years ago, and I had to figure everything out myself. I am a technical mongol and can destroy al technically stuff and also had to try to speak English, so I am quite proud of my achievement. So it really p….. me of when I tell my friends of my channel begins to talk of how cleaver there grandchildren is for this, even before I have said the last word in the sentence. So I have stoped telling. We have to stick together us strong cleaver not so jung women 😊

I take my hat off to you as well for doing videos in your second language, you are amazing. My French is pretty good but I wouldn't dare do a video in French. And yes we absolutely must stick together. I once heard a good comeback to a child taking the Mickey out of a parent for being technically inept, which was 'less of the cheek, I taught you how to use a spoon '. I thought that was great 😁❤️

I found all three of you at different times, but maybe in a former life you all were sisters and stitched together under a big oak tree in the garden--truly soul sisters if you ask me! Dutifully I do each week’s project, however, I choose when I get back to it; The beauty of video. I do them in order, giving attention an depth to breathe life into each one. Now halfway thru the year, I have an encyclopedia of skills, methods, and ideas to do later on as time an imagination permit. My brain and hands have moved over these projects that make it a “living memory” . I had no idea the rich pond I was stepping into when I grabbed needles and threads.
The week’s I struggle with are the ones that reveal their treasures inside the process.

As usual another inspiring project - many thanks Kathryn. I have a bee story for you: Last year a swarm of bees appeared out of the blue in my backyard. By the end of the day they had set up a hive in the compost bin! I encourage them in my garden with lots of plants they like, but I was afraid to have a hive so close as my grandkids played there. That night I said a prayer to the Powers that be(e), pardon the pun, to help the queen bee find alternate accommodation. I kid you not, next morning they had all disappeared, leaving behind only a small piece of perfectly formed honeycomb attached to the bin. It still warms my heart to think about it 🐝🐝🐝 By now you know I love my quotes so here’s my favourite about bees by Antonio Machado:
Last night as I was sleeping,
    I dreamt-marvelous error!-
    that I had a beehive
    here inside my heart.
    And the golden bees
    were making white combs
    and sweet honey
    from my old failures.

Small, medium and teeny tiny!), I'm now incorporating the crazy quilting into a fabric bowl, with a side swerve into a coaster. I find inspiration in what you, and others in the Facebook group, and other CZcamsrs do, as well as in other things I see in my local environment. I've realised that even when my hand sewing is meditative I need a purpose beyond just the act of sewing. I'm happiest if I'm sewing or creating with a specific purpose if ya know what I mean.

I am one who picks and chooses. I found your channel after Marion mentioned it, but I missed a bunch of the beginnings, like making the book and burying the bundle. I’ve watched a lot of the older videos, but haven't done many of them. There are more ideas than time! (I realize I'm not alone in this.) Also, I can easily see all my time getting spent on watching videos, rather than making things, so I have to make limits. Sometimes I work on other projects while I listen to your lovely chattering. ❤

Sure, here is the translation of your text into English:
As you mentioned whether we are working on all the weeks, it reminded me that I returned to this hexagon. I didn't want to skip it on purpose, but I didn't have the filling fabric, and I had once sewn a project with two layers of flannel, but it wasn't the same, it didn't feel right.
Today, I needed to take the sewing machine for repair because my daughter broke the needle so badly that we couldn't put a new one in, and I want her to have something to do during the holidays. In the box where the machine is kept, there were some fabrics at the bottom, so I took them out and sorted them, and there were also some scraps of filling fabric. So I decided, okay, I'll work on the hexagon.
The other reason I sometimes fall behind is that I don't know various embroidery stitches, and I keep putting it off because I see the beautiful creations of others in the group. In the end, I usually think, "So what, I'll do it my own lumberjack way, the best I can." :)
But it's true that if I missed a week, even in my own way, I would feel like my project has holes in it.

My mind gets so overwhemled by so many ideas of CZcams artists. And Pinterest etc. So I write things in my bullet journal, there are CZcams videos on that as well. And I got the app on my mobile, Chatterbooks. For a monthly fee I can print out a monthly book. I got the tiny size, and I download my screenshots of things I've seen and want to try. It gets it out of my brain and I keep them in my sewing studio, I can browse through them, while I enjoy a cup of tea. I also screenshot Pinterest, and take photos of my television screen on pause.

Watching on TV with the computer on my lap, so I'll give you a long winded comment... Lucky you, we are having a chat!
I had a woman, 34 years old, watched one of my videos, she was so adorable. She aspires to be like me when she gets old, she said... 🤣 and I tell you this because you have said, women of a certain age a few times now... So we are wise women sharing our lifes experiences.
And community! OHMYGOSH! That is why I came back. So since I was here "before" I remembered the community and missed it. This for me, is the BEST part. The sharing, inspiration and encouragement is so amazing! Imagine all the people that can't get out, they get to turn on the tv and instantly they are connected. It really warms my heart.
And another great thing is how we watch each other and a new idea comes of it and off we go on a new adventure, just like you did today!
I also think it's so important to mention where we see something, it doesn't take away from what we are sharing, it enriches it because we are being honest and genuine.
I love my threads in a big ball! The mix of colors excites me although I do have some on cards, I'm not sure what possessed me to do that! HA!
I can't wait to hear why we shouldn't lick our thread... wait for it jeri... hahaheeee, I agree, we get it into the needle pretty quick so who cares if it swells.
The YT (icon) used to be a cog, I was watching a video on the hexagon, this guy compared it to a nut, and so a tool and so a tool icon made sense to him, (he said Logo) so he thought about it as a means to "fix" or work on something and he mentioned because it's an app that can be on your phone and so is YT, they had to be similar but different. And now I'm signing off! Or nodding off! LOL Loved this video, really enjoyed everything you had to say and I'm still not done with it but Im hungry! 💜💜💜

I know this is a bit of an essay, but well, you started it! 😂Maybe it's that we're close in age, but the number of times you mention ideas I'm in the process of mulling over: UFO's. But it's not really about unfinished projects, it's about shame. And starting new projects & ideas is about the maturity to weigh our resources versus sucking up all the bits that we can like a kid set loose in a candy store. I used to do financial planning. Money management and diet management carry the same shame v. crazy kid v. maturity management battles for our souls. Maybe part of the mindfulness you talk about around slow stitching is the same mindfulness we encourage around spending and people are encouraged to think about their diets. Slow down. Let go of judgement. Experience the need you're trying to fill. Breathe.
This year, I did create a list of my UFOs/WIPs. I did it not to shame myself, but as a self assessment - much like I'd recommend a person figure out their assets and debts and where they stand financially. Get real. I distinguished between UFOs/WIPs by saying if I hadn't touched the project in more than a year, it was a UFO, WIPs were less than one year. I started making a plan: I gave a list of 12 UFO projects to my local quilt shop which does a random drawing each month indicating which of the 12 projects to work on. I peg away at that like a person might paydown their credit card. I'm looking at the items that didn't fit on that list of 12, and beginning to decide whether I ever want to finish them, and maybe bagging them up and giving them away will allow one of my fellow slow stitchers to have a lovely find at the local charity shop. The WIPs I'm still interested in and peg away at, much as you do, whatever I feel led to do at the time.
Doing this process helps me in that New Project evaluation process you talk about. I'm more aware of what's on my table and can compare the excitement of the new shiny project to what I have in process, what classes I know I'll be taking, and be realistic about what I want & don't want to spend money on. Less shame, less kid in the candy shop, more mature thinker cultivating relaxed enjoyment.
Finally, basalt columns! Nick Zentner, a professor at Central Washington University did some short videos with some lovely footage of Washington's hexagonal basalt columns and he talks about the history of Scottish & English scientists studying the hexagonal structures: Nick On The Rocks basalt columns: czcams.com/video/cWGoiOFgpKI/video.html

I did start it, 😂 I love that you apply your financial planning skills to your WIPs and UFOs, and you are right the 'Slow movement ' principles apply to so many things. I rehomed a lot of things before I left England. Mature thinker cultivating relaxed environment is a great way to put it. Thank you for the basalt columns, I look forward to watching that ❤️

I want to do ALL your weekly projects (And learn to knit!) but missed two so far (but still will do them ofcourse😊). I always look forward to Mondays for your videos or Tuesdays if I didn’t have time to watch. The hexagon with the batting looks like you can use it as a cute pincushion on the go, in one of your lovely ricebags! I love this community spirit here, am not tech- savy and easily overwhelmed by all social media. So I take it easy with my own channel and don’t click on the red hexgagon icontoo often (Icon, Yes!!)😎. Enjoy your week away and thank you so much, as always. 💖🍀💖🍀

Hello Machteld, good idea for the pin cushion, I have a hexagon pin cushion in progress (for ages now) that I haven't got around to sharing yet. The problem for me is that in my notifications on CZcams itself, I don't see all the comments so I have to come here to the app. For example, I had no notification of your comment but here you are in my app. I try not to get sucked in to the analytics though because it can tie me up in knots. It's like being back at school in a way, getting your report card. Or getting a performance assessment at work. Makes me anxious just thinking about it, which is probably why I went on about it far too much in this video, a sure sign that I am anxious about something. 😁❤️

@@k3n.clothtales if I see how many comments you get (and then also probably on other platforms) I can’t even imagine keeping up with all of them! That must bring some pressure as well besides the pleasure. I feel like I am in school with You, but only in the best way possible and you’re my favorite teacher ever! Now ofcourse I want to see the Hexagon pincushion (And the sunflower quilt)! But take your time and definitely no pressure from me, just hugs , admiration and gratitude 🥰🍀💖

Thank you Machteld, of course it takes time going through the comments but people take the time to write so I like to respond and at least read them all 😁♥️

I show my support by following you and watching your videos from start to finish. I use the thumbs up to be able to find some videos again from content creators I don't follow but enjoyed a specific video. I'm not sure if others do this as well. I want to do all the projects, but I can't seem to finish most of them in a week. I'm hoping to catch up on some when I go on vacation this summer. I like the experience of trying something I might otherwise not do. I also have some Kawandi projects planned, but I never seem to get them started.

Thanks so much for all the inspiration, Kathryn! I'm one of those who pick and choose projects as the mood suits. When I was younger, I would likely have committed to doing every project as they were presented, but by this time of life, I simply do what takes my fancy 😊.

I got hooked on Jeri's dots on the first video. Same way with the 100 hearts in 100 days. Im still making those hearts! I love stitching, and stitching without an "end" is what I'm all about (no pressure to complete). I often wonder what my children will think of me when I pass. Lol! I'm trying all your pieces, but some I'm enjoying more than others. 😊 hugs ❤

Those dots are addictive, I am also making more. And hopefully our children will be grateful that we lived such productive, creative lives, while they are working out what to do with it all. 😂 There's a thing called 'Swedish Death Cleaning ', a video about it popped up in my feed recently. I watched it and the woman ended up with a nearly empty house. I can't see myself doing that anytime soon though I kind of appreciate the concept. 😊❤️

,I watch because I like listening to fellow stitchers and it's sewing company whilst I work on mine. I have however picked up ideas and tips and stitch reminders and I thoroughly enjoy them.❤

Thank you so much, in the past I found sewing a bit overwhelming at times but you break it down easily . I gave up a few years ago on a square for the log cabin. When I saw how you did that tutorial my mind was blown away ;all I needed was an actual teacher to show me visually and now I can do it. So thank you for all you do, so lovely to show us your process for each project.
