Syd & Liz Doyle moved to Stanhope Estate Ashford, Kent England in 1975 to pastor a struggling Methodist church. Starting with only 6 people over 5 years they grew to 40 adults with 50 children in Sunday School. Even though there was growth, the authorities based at Bank St. Methodist Church at the time, were not impressed with their evangelical fervor and took action to see them removed from their ministry. They not only lost their church, but also their home! Several of the young believers, being without Pastoral care asked the Doyle's to stay on, as a result, Ashford Christian Fellowship was founded in 1980. This is a short video account of those days. In 1998 the Doyle's moved to the USA to begin a global ministry called Nations Light.
Now, under the capable leadership of Pastor David Lamb and his team, the church has continued to grow and Syd's dream of a 3 story building with lots of rooms has been fulfilled as God has brought ACF full circle recently purchasing the Bank St. Methodist Church as their worship centre! The Bank St. congregation dwindled as ACF's grew. It is a blessing to see a lively congregation filling the place once again.
