  • Though Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is in the East African Community, Tanzanian still have to pay $50 for VISA to visit DRC. Though Congolese pay nothing to visit Tanzania and Tanzania is the visa free country for Congolese and other East Africans. I asked some Congo Officials at the border, and they say Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania have to send the letter to the Congolese government to remove that VISA fee to Tanzanians. I hope Tanzanian Government will see this and work on it.

East Africans we need to kick DRC out of the club if rules that are the basis to the foundation of the EAC are being violated

It is really heart breaking. And sadly enough DRC and Tanzania are both in SADC and Tanzanian army is in Congo trying to keep peace

Tanzanian are our brothers and sisters, and they always have congo's back our government should really make it fair for them and Burundians. But we don't need Kenyans, ugandais, and rwandese in our country. We don't even care or need the EAC anymore. Is full of hypocrisy. How come rwandese are killing us while the whole community says nothing?

That's foolish and stupid, may be it's corruption, Tanzania and DRC are both EAC and SADC, that's corruption by Congolese immigration officers.

Two years a go I had a similar situation at the Grand Barrier at Goma/Gisenyi border. As a Tanzanian, had arrived at Gisenyi planing to visit the city of Goma. Officials at the border post denied me entry because Tanzanian were then obligated to pay 100 dollars. Now DRC is in EAC and still Tanzanians have have to part with 50 dollars to entry 😮

I remember the stressful scrutiny at the Nyamata border post I had to experience when I wanted to exit Rwanda, transit through Burundi and enter Tanzania at Kobero/Kabanga post...I was like cauchemar tellement!!

Does Tanzania have one of those mentioned?
Both Tz and DRC are in SADC, EAC. Tanzanians do not need a visa to go to all southern Afrícan countries and east African countries. And Congolese from DRC a country with wars do not need a visa to visit Tanzania why don't they do the same to Tanzanians

Even Congolese pay visa to get into TZ. It is unfortunate that TZ and Congo got to charge each other but also, even when it s visa free, sometimes, entry isn t guaranteed. I met Burundians who were denied entry into Kenya from TZ side. One one them had to show a western passport to be allowed in as the Burundian passport was refused entry. Other two had to bribe a good 150$ to be allowed in

I travelled wth Burundians and Congolese in one bus when I was coming to Tanzania no one paid visa fee to visit Tanzania and most of them are businessmen who come to Dar to buy staffs and sell them to their countries

Tourism employs people through Airbnb, appartment, restaurants and hotel business, uber drivers, tour companies, Foreign currency etc.

@explorewithbertin brother, I feel you , but we are buried our people every day. We are at war. We don't have stability. We really don't need tourists right now . We need peace first. Thank you for supporting us in this war. Honestly, as a congolese, we are asking our government to shout down everything, even university till we finish with this war that rwandese Fallow East african imposed on us. Then, we can reopen the borders and tourism.
