I grew up in the 60's & 70"s watching Johnny Carson, and some of his shows were the one's with Don Rickles, Bob Hope, Dean Martin. But my favorite was Don Rickles because you never knew what he was going to say. His delivery was so fantastic. He was one of the few who could get me to laugh out loud. It sad that there will never be another one like him, because we have lost the ability to laugh at ourselves.

What a 'Pussy Nation'....... we've become. this is when people could 'roll' with comedy in all it's forms......and 'laugh'...with a joke, and not 'turn it into'...more than it was, because of their fucking 'feelings'. weilding that...like a childs temper-tantrum' weapon. God...wish i could go back to the 60's and 70's.

Rickles may have said it to Frank years later at the Sands in Vegas, but the first time was at Murray Franklin's in Miami Beach. Don's mother knew Frank's mom and asked her if she could get "Frankie" to see Don at the club. If he did, it would give her son's career a boost. Don told Frank to hit somebody when they met for the first time.

I've read comments on other Don R videos on Carson, and I agree when I was younger i didn't get Rickles at all and I was only like 10-15 during these years of shows he did on Carson. But at age 54 it all becomes very funny I not sure why. But he is great and I miss them all.

I never get tired of watching videos of Don. I make people laugh by copying his comedic style. You have to think quickly and have comedic timing. Doing this is my way of honoring him. One word describes Don best: legend. RIP, Don (2017), and Barbara (2021). Married 52 years.

Steven Babinski I’m 44 and it’s the same here. These guys were not found at „ America has talent“ , they were forged in thousands of stand up nights and had two things: enormous talent and class. All this is not required today any longer. The only quality needed today is to be politically correct and to look pleasing.

@Josh D Didn't really think it would. You do make a good observation concerning perspective. That dismissal people make when saying every generation thinks the next is worse isn't very useful. Certain values never change... and if they're lost or abused for a spell, it means trouble. Seems history is replete with evidence.
