You are correct, that is the same guitarist, Markus Vanhala, that also plays in Insomnium. Omnium Gatherum is his own band that he formed when he was 14 years. He joined Insomnium later on in 2011 I believe. It's musically quite easy on the ears, the band jokingly labels itself adult oriented melodic death metal. I like their style of mixing 80's hard rock influences and synths into the more traditional mdm sound, but I get your point about it being too "soft" for you. Any plans on checking out more Wolfheart in the near future?

I Wikipedia searched this band and it says that they are Finnish Melodic Death Metal band formed in 1996 which I find interesting because Heaven Shall Burn is a German Melodic Death Metal band formed in 1996. What are the odds of them being formed in the same year and same genre?
I suggest Heaven Shall Burn- The Weapon They Fear, The Bombs of My Saviours, Murderers of all Murderers. They did a cover of Valhalla (feat. Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian), you might find that interesting, mixing Melodic Death Metal with Symphonic Power Metal.
