This episode was incredible. So well written and the drama was fantastic. The loved triangles are complicated and fascinating because you care about all the characters involved. You understand where everyone is coming from. The last five minutes had me in awe. Gambit and Magneto were complete badasses. All this in 30 minutes, X-Men 97 episode 5 is goated.
Has all I wanted from this show drama between characters, massive realisations, amazing action, big consequences
Rumors this only a appetizer compared to 8-10. So buckle up.
@@LegendsofPodcastingapprehensive thought: what if all of this is canon to the MCU and they're killing all of these characters off to have an X-men team comprised of those young mutants at the beginning of the episode, Jubilee, Sunspot, maybe Storm and Wolverine's daughter?
We just witnessed one of the greatest episodes of animation or media in our era. It's absolutely unreal. How do they top this? 😢😢😢

Why do I get the horrible feeling:
1) When Magneto comes back, it's "Planet X" time (except no Xorn Substitute)
2) When GAMBIT comes back, it's as a new Horseman of Apocalypse

This episode was foreshadowed, not just in Madelyn vision in the first episode remember the club scene in the first episode how Rouge said she wanted to dance like that and to touch and kiss someone, at the time she couldn’t but still had Gambit, now she got to experience that but she didn’t feel the same and now has lost Gambit. I know fans have been giving her flak over Magneto but it’s understandable that she’d be tempted by a relationship where she could actually touch someone
Yeah they do a really good job with a set up and pay off in this show. Now having cable there….that’s the set up now what’s the pay off
I totally get rogue being tempted and to finally confront it with gambit and him accepting it was so emotional and then when she does it her realising it’s more than that with gambit was amazing. Mind is still blown 🤯

Just amazing dialogue through the whole show
Nightcrawler is Christian. It's a core concept within the faith. Doing good for ppl you know, have a relationship with or know will reciprocate is not being good or loving person.
Doing it for your enemies or those who've hurt you is.
Romans 5:8 being a prime example.
Vision quoted a line from Exodus (though somewhat sacrilegiously) when he said "I Am".

When i saw the watcher i was like "Oh look it's the watcher" then it becomes "OH GOD NO IT'S THE WATCHER!!"

PLEASE let Gambit be brought back. I don’t care if it’ll cheapen the emotional impact. As a huge fan of the character, it felt like he hasn’t gotten any love or attention since the 90s show ended. The movies and other cartoons didn’t have any interest in making him a main character. I REALLY don’t want this to be the end for him.
Considering cables appeared Time will change and I am guessing Apocolypse is part of this incident.
Saying after the reaction they have to. It’s to bold a move to kill both magneto and gambit off as well as so many more. But god dam what an episode. They are so good at putting so much into 1 episode
@@tougakun Has Apocalypse ever been behind the Sentinels, though? Doesn't seem his style. There is the "Tri Sentinel" from comics but that's pretty obscure. I can't imagine them not fixing this with time travel, though if they are writing the series in a mature way, some of the consequences of "Remember It" will still persist.
@@hunterpdx7061 he is about survival of the fittest so he would use a sentinal attack to weed out the weak mutants and take over as he could easily destory that sentinal.

Yea, that sentinel was straight up culling. It was killing mutants with the green beam, but also disintegrating humans with the orange yellowish ray. I think it’s Cables ultimate fight coming back yet again. When we last left off, Apocalypse had used Cortez to resurrect himself. He’s still out there somewhere and if you look at the theme intro, guess what they showed for the first time? Cable fighting apocalypse from a past episode in his resurrection chamber trap. They reanimated it for the intro.

You guys missed the watcher in the night sky as the carnage began. At the 20min40sec mark. Could be a fixed point in time. Or he was there because of the sheer mayhem of the event and its significance.
Our eyes couldn’t take in everything that was happening but did notice it on other reactions. I hope it’s not a a fixed point as I can’t handle watching x men with no gambit

I just hope it’s nothing to do with phoenix. My god, People nowadays cannot tell a marvel story without using Phoenix or the Infinity stones. Every cartoon is the stones. What if ultron gets them, what if villains had them and tricked the acengers into believing they were the villains. So sick of X ultimate power equals fight for control of the power, or to extinguish it. Xmen vs Avengers was such a shitty story bordering on parody. What was that beak visor on cyclops? They thought it looked good? Lol.

@@AJ-kt5zo I think Cable HAS been trying to stop this over and over again, which is why he said something like "No, not again!" when everything kicked off. I imagine if Episode 7 is the Cable episode, it will be about him Groundhog Daying or his other time travel efforts to avert this

It's not from the future, it's a wild sentinel. And there's no fixing this event. It's a major turning point in the comics
This episode was something special
Was one of the best 30 mins of animation and X men ever and we are only half way through season 1
“Days of Future Past” was a two-issue arc in TheUncanny X-Men published in 1981 in which an older version of Katherine “Kitty” Pryde travels back in time into the body of her younger self to change history and prevent the birth of the post-apocalyptic timeline she comes from, in which the Sentinels have conquered America and wiped out most of the mutant race. The story was adapted into a 2014 film, one of the most popular and critically acclaimed of the live-action X-Men franchise, with Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) taking the central time-traveling role.

The purplish/red guy with the white cape is Exodus and we comic readers know exactly who he is. I really hope we will see him use his telekinetic powers by the end of the season. Omega telekinetic!
This was my favorite episode. Less of that cheesy 90s tone and more serious storytelling with good character drama. I hope the rest of the season keeps this kind of tone.
Seems to be pretty consistent so far bar the jubilee party which was fun.
There is no going back in time and fixing it. They already did this storyline. This actually happened.
So gambit isn’t coming back?
The fact they had the guts to commit to such a bloodbath, regardless of how much it sticks or who might live/come back, is really freaking impressive… Nobody could have predicted that the return of the 90s continuity would see the mass deaths of all these characters - Gambit, Magneto, the Hellfire Clib/Inner Circle, the Morlocks - let alone in one episode.
How in the hell this season ends at this point is beyond my ability to guess, and I’m super-impressed by it.
I mean, keep your theory, you’re entitled to it. But with Cable saying “No, not again” and “failure imminent” i’ll see your bet, and raise you that Cable is indeed on a mission to stop this from happening.
Now, that said, this is not the original show with the original rules. Gone are the shackles that tied the show down, causing them to show villains landing in water, or shown surviving safely every single time, killing no one. First episode when Morph “dies” they didn’t show his body rolling, that wasn’t until the next episode. I mean, they literally blew up Sinister, but teased him at the end of the episode lol. Look at Boliver Trasks escape, I think that’s the funniest, cause he was dead man. So while I think Cable will undo this, it WILL cost something, what, or who that will be, I can’t say.

@@LegendsofPodcasting I mean, as you know, this is based on a comic book series where basically everybody has died and come back to life at least once, so he probably will come back, but I don't think they'll Days of Future Past this away because a) like the other guy said, they already did that storyline (heavily modified) in the 90s cartoon, b) they have tons of other ways from the comics that they could use to bring people back and c) this event, assuming it ISN'T undone, had the potential to shake things up and lead to lots of interesting character development while also leading into other comic storylines they could adapt.
Also now that I think about it d) because otherwise either Genosha gets accepted into the UN and the show would be over, or somebody else comes and attacks Genosha. Mutants can't 'win' or the story's over.
If the entire event does end up getting undone I wouldn't expect it to be in the next couple episodes though.

It’s obvious especially with cables not again line it’s clear this is a fixed point in time that has to happen the most I see happening is cable learning the hard way he can’t fix it or it might be slightly altered to bring gambit back but it’s a complete fix time

I like how they are mixing all kinds of era of storylines and doing their own thing. This is Grant Morrison era E for Extinction but also has elements of the recent Jonathan Hickman Krakoa era and also all that stuff I didnt read in between where Cyclops got edgy and had a big red X face mask.
A lot of people forget Gambit is an omega level mutant but he had mister sinister lobotomize him so that his power wouldn't spin out of control..in an alternate universe he's one of the more powerful entities in existence

I think the one mutant where the girl came out of that guy in the white Cloak is from Legion show but thats the extent of my knowledge but damn they brought all the drama this episode lol like damn so a huge Sentinal comes out of nowhere, everyone dead we lost another X man and Cable?! Greatest Marvel series in a long time.
When Madeline (as Jean) tried to get in Gyrich’s mind, she had that vision, said someone else was here, they showed the head of the “Godzilla Sentinel” and Bolivar Trask, so I think it’s Sinister, working for Apocalypse, but Apocalypse won’t have the cameo until the last scene of the season. A lot of people think it’s Bastion, but I don’t think so. That sentinel is from E for Exctinction, in that story it was Cassandra Nova, but without Xavier being present atm, I din’t think they’ll use her. I think Sinister and Apocalypse is a safe bet.
I was thinking it would be her since she's part of the Deadpool movie so they can introduce her through this series before the movie premieres

If they do have it be her, i think that means Xavier has to come back. I’ll admit, Im not too big on her character, but im here for whatever they do. This show has been phenomenal so far.

He's literally the most powerful person on that island and we didn't see him do anything when the action was going down that's so disappointing lol. But there were two other explosions/green lights when Cable first popped up before the Wild Sentinel started wrecking shit. I think other mutants were fighting in other parts of the island. Remember in the comics, there were 3 wild sentinels that did all the damage.

With the Watcher watching, it looks like the Fall of Genosha/Death of Gambit could be an Absolute Point. That is why Cable failed to stop it.

I think with leech being there he deactivated and turned off Magneto's mutant powers making the sentinel think he is dead.

That Sentinal was a Wild Sentinal created by Nanomachines that are programed to create new Sentinals by consuming any material.

@@LegendsofPodcasting It's from "E for Extinction" /New Xmen. Evil mutant kills 16 million mutants on Genosha. I doubt they use that mutant for the show though, they've never introduced them in any of the cartoons.

Since we saw Cable in Genosha in 92 trying to find Adler and preventing something, and hearing Cable say to his mom "Not again!", we could assume it's a nexus event, an unchangeable point in time. Or at least he's been trying to change it and has failed consistently.

I don't think Magneto is dead. One of Morlocks who was with him in the blast is Erg (the one with the eye-patch and the hair going straight up,) his power is to absorb any energy directed at him and convert it into electricity, which he can shoot out of the eye with the patch.

@@LegendsofPodcasting If Leech negates Magneto's powers, would he still register on the Sentinel sensors? I also think that enough material would shield him from detection, so if Erg blasts an underground tunnel deep enough with the power he absorbed from the Sentinel, that might also help hide Magneto.
After his "Acts of Vengeance" failed, Loki created the Tri-Sentinel by magically merging three prototype Sentinels built by Shaw Industries to become the cornerstone for Project Nimrod, a secret government plan to destroy mutants. Loki reprogrammed the robot to attack a nuclear power plant nearby in order to kill thousands of people; however, Spider-Man used his newfound powers of Captain Universe to destroy it.

Damn, what is going with this show? They're knocking off all the X-Men. Overall a powerful episode. The way Magneto used the train as a whip was badass. Also letting Gambit showcase his powers. By letting him charge up the motorcycle and Sentinel.
Cyclops little spill about humans. Being lucky us mutants are letting you live. Definitely bone chilling but truthful at the same time. Could the argument be made Cyclops will start to take on Magneto personal philosophy about self preservation. Or was he being controlled by the Jean and a little of the Phoenix force took over at that instant?
Yeah I did read the comics where cyclops lost of faith and joined magnetos call but was never a fan. It’s like superman being evil. Cool as a one off but not sustainable. Like Logan says he’s a Boy Scout
So happy gambit did the motorbike and the scarf was a nice touch

Pretty sure Madeline is dead. Given the scene with Cable, the fact he said "I'm sorry Mom..." as he's being forced back, the fact that there's a large green flash coming straight at her which blasts the direct outside of the building killing other people who were inside and obliterating the building...
Yeah I follow the rule that if you don't see a body or see it happen on screen it's best not to assume, but everything surrounding that moment leads to the implication that she perished in that initial blast of the building.
Also from what I remember they dealt with Apocalypse as far as the old series went, so unless the story is bringing him back, I'm voting for one of the many other alternatives others have brought up so far.
Be a shame if she is dead as the love triangle between her, Jean and Scott was getting interesting

This was Casandra nova . It would explain why Jean and Madelyne were psychically attacked before the main attack……I’m not a precog, I just remember reading this story years ago. Cassandra Nova is pretty evil . I’m pretty sure they’re not going to undo this event. It’s a pretty pivotal moment
My guess is the show won't go there.
Cassandra Nova is an awful character in my opinion, without any genuine personality or background story except being an evil twin. There are so many crucial villains to add to this story, like Bastion or Stryfe. But the main point that convinced me we won't see Nova is when Cable says "HE'S COMING!". We need a He.

Actually I believe Leech weakened Magneto by touching him. Leech power is to depower a mutant. Since Magneto is Omega level Leech can only weaken him.
That is what o thought but didn’t seem to effect magneto unless they are doing it like rogue or has to be skin to skin
But while “E is For Extinction” remains arguably the worst, there are plenty more tragedies in the X-Men’s history and the series includes aspects of some of these other stories in “Remember It” as well. “Mutant Massacre” was a 1986 Marvel crossover encompassing the X-Men franchise and other comics. In it, Mister Sinister's Marauders launch a horrific attack on the Morlocks, a group of mutants who live in the sewers beneath New York City to avoid persecution. Although the X-Men and other superheroes such as Thor and Daredevil stand against them, the Marauders successfully kill many of the Morlocks and seriously injure several of the crime fighters.

@@LegendsofPodcasting in the actual story Madelyn has nothing to do with it, cyclops and Emma are a couple for like 20years, the writers are simply combining story, like lol the destroyer of the island is Xavier’s sister it’s wild
Yes, in the new x-men comics Emma has a “psychic affair” with Scott and Jean discovers it in a similar way - and Emma is dressed as Jean in the caught act, which connects a bit with the clone story now. With Jean’s death, Scott starts dating Emma (he had actually refused her even after Jean’s death, and also gave up X-Men, but later was convinced by a future resurrected Jean who travels back in time to tell him to move on with Emma and not to give up X-men - because things get messy in this alternative future without him).

It's funny how this series is actually doing the opposite of the comics and fixing cyclop's biggest character butchering arc. In the comics he literally abandons his son and wife (which in the comics she wasn't a clone at first, but just a look alike, which makes it worse when Jean resurrects and he abandons his family). It's the arc that essentially made Cyclops fall out of favor with fans and made Logan the fan favorite. Here we have Cyclops actually recognizing that she's still the mother of his son, and even Logan gives her some room given the circumstance. And to top it all off Jean kisses Logan and yet has a problem with Cyclops kissing his wife? This series is super pro-cyclops haha. The author who created Madelyn Prior has always been vocally furious with what other authors did to Cyclops after (He was supposed to grieve Jean, love his wife, and raise his son, literally a happy ever after, and then the new author went, "No she's a clone actually and Cyclops abandons her because his flaw is that he'll betray even his kid for Jean!!!").
Yeah I am glad they are taking a better, more realistic portrayal of what would happen and glad they are showing repercussions. Cyclops has been through so much from Xavier then thinking he’s got all he wanted with Jean as his wife and a child to having that ripped away from him. I am glad they are showing his grief coming out in anger. Glad he’s speaking with Madeline about it as she’s the only one that would understand what he’s going through
@@LegendsofPodcasting It reminds me of Castaway, but essentially this is a story about a man whose wife passed away, he found a new one, and then she's back. In every real life scenario no one would expect him to just abandon his current spouse. Of course this is more complex because of the clone thing, but it's insane that any author thought she'd just go away and he'd just get back with old Jean like he hasn't gotten attached to the woman that birthed his child.

Great episode. I know what makes X-Men so compelling is all the drama. But I really don't like the way Gambit was treated all season: Rogue stringing him along while... getting "reacquainted" with Magneto, breaking his heart, and in the end, Gambit saving her and making the ultimate sacrifice. Least he went out a hero. All I want now from this season is Storm getting back to 100%.

The emotion with rogue telling gambit the truth saying how she can’t feel him and how he can’t light her up. Shocking but amazing

@@LegendsofPodcasting My feeling is, you guys are right and time travel will be used as a device to unravel a lot of this. But... a huge part of me wishes that won't happen. In comics, death has become meaningless and its emotional impact is lessened every time it is undone. If these writers have the courage not to go that route, I would really respect that. Great reactions as always.
This episode didnt make much sense to me. U got an Omega level mutant with metal powers and couldn't get rid off a metal walking machine. Please make it make sense?

But seriously, the one thing that keeps this from a 12/10 like it deserves? Canonising the stupid 2010 Moira-is-a-mutant retcon; bad enough that we can’t let the most notable human supporting character just stay human, but this show that was made well before that (and gave no indication she was anything but human) having its continuation retcon it. Pfft…
