      I know auto makers like to show off their “top of the line” models, but most people don’t buy those. Right now I’m trying to decide between a mid-line or lower 4Runner and a mid-line or lower Jeep (Cherokee). Is it possible for you to give a rundown of mid-line and/or lower of the vehicles you review. I think a lot of people would appreciate it.
      Thanks for you reviews and occasional sense of humor.

      I agree the 4Runner is overdue for an update. I would like to see Toyota Safety Sense added as standard equipment like it is on all the other Toyota vehicles - and a front end re-style would be nice, too. 4Runners are for old school folks who don’t need a huge TV as their radio. I don’t understand the need for any more than what it is already. I personally don’t need anything more techy than a 4Runner. And power seats? It’s just a gimmick

  • @PartyUpLive
    @PartyUpLive Před 5 lety +1

    I spent the last 6 weeks researching the Highlander. Today I went to sit in one again and I was shown the 4Runner. I'm 6' 9" tall and the 4Runner was very very spacious for me. I could even lower the power seat a little bit if I wanted. I will be forgetting about the Highlander and will start looking at the 4Runner. I like that it sits up higher and I like it's simple yet rugged design.
    I am not a fan of all the toys and extras and even the base model has nearly everything I want. Only thing that was missing on the base is heated mirrors. But as of now I'm really leaning towards the 4Runner. Either the SR5 or SR5 Premium IF I can't find THE SR5 with heated mirrors.
    I tend to keep my cars forever and I've heard this one was pretty reliable.

A couple of scratches on the bottom of the bumpers large enough for moab bumper stickers to cover up no problem. Never once did the truck disappoint. Under body skid pans did take a scuff and a dent but nothing a good back yard body man cant fix:). I had to watch my lines and proved it's self fully capable. Stock and ready to rock. There is a reason why you don't run with the back window down. As the wind passes over the top and under the truck will "vortex" up in into the window. You will get road debris inside the truck. Dirt, dust, things like that. The wind curls up when exiting the back of the vehicle and rolls right into the back of the truck. At least I think that's the case.

    Any respponses would be helpful. I am looking at a 2018 4runner SR5 Premium with around 26k miles. It had 1 owner. No accident. Numerous service records. Looks amazing. But is not certified. The asking price is $37k. Does this make sense? It seems like a good deal. If I were to purchase a new one it would be $6-7K more plus the higher tax on top. I have trade in equity for my BMW of $19-20K. I'm just not sure if 2018 even at those miles is the right thing to do. It's been years since I drove an SUV (Nissan Pathfinder in 2009) and am ready to get into a bigger vehicle.
    So the year of the vehicle and trying to determine if the 4runner will be a good daily driver.
    I drive only 5 miles or 12 minutes back and forth to work.

    I have a 2018 4Runner Off Road Premium. I LOVE it! I have the red one as well. I am excited to see the redesign on the 2021 is going to be like. I'm going to wait until the 2021 is out but 2020 is still on the lot so I can compare the 2 and pick one.

    I don't like the old styling front lights and rear tail-lights. That said, it is a Toyota and a good value.
    If you are not doing off-road, I like the Honda Pilot and Passport better.

      @@user-lf8wu5ri8n , I watch all the off-road videos and find Toyota's and Jeep's doing all the hard stuff.
      I like comfort, style, features, and a great ride, so I bought a Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is wonderful but it can't do serious off-road. I don't do off-road. I don't even like getting my vehicles dirty. Have a great day.

    Can you do a review on how to buy a used forerunner and if it's worth buying a used forerunner and things to look for or lookout for when buying a used forerunner. (Maximum 5-7 of difference from 2019)
    Thanks for the video very useful..btw how is repairing costs for the forerunner? Do they break the bank in any way?

    I love my T4R Limited but this "review" was very messy. It sounded like you where reading off a spec sheet while not applying the specs to the car pictured. For example, "available sensors" makes it sound like an option. They're not. they are on the limited only and no other trims. 7 seats is also a Limited only item. That one is an option. You could have noted that the limited has a different appearance with 20" rims and permanent 4wd where as other specs are all 2wd with selectable 4wd and 4w low on 17" rims. The meatiness of the rubber varies with trim as well..
    Sorry, but not the best review. You could do better.

    10 Reasons NOT to buy a 4Runner:
    #1: Stiff Ride Quality
    #2 Below-Average Fuel Economy
    #3: Aging Interior
    #4: Small Infotainment Screen
    #5: Lackadaisical Handling
    #6: Subpar Safety Scores
    #7: Some Important Features Not Available
    #8: Lacks Driving Aids
    #9: Ungraceful entry/exit into/out The Car
    #10: Android Auto/Apple Car Play not included
    Well guys, if you want to off-road with this car, consider choosing a more efficient choice, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Honda Passport. My job is done!

      @yanglu9555 Před 5 lety

      I use to have a 2006 Toyota Highlander and that car will take you anywhere even have all the rooms and great on gas mileage. But I do agree with you, maddog8148, the 4Runner does not have excellent fuel economy. Few cons that I keep running across with the current Gen5 4Runners research is the efficient gas mileage, does not have a lot of power for a V6 engine, and does not have a latch for the gas tank like all the rest of vehicles. Among that the switches for the power windows are on the top lip next to the glass. It seems like the 2002 Toyota Rav4 all over again with the fuel economy. Should they consider to make all these changes, what is your thought in regarding to these matters?

    • @maddog8148
      @maddog8148 Před 5 lety +2

      Yang Lu I really believe Toyota is an amazing company. What I see is they take a very long time to do an entire new model for an automobile they do because of sales and loyalists. Good thing, but you also have to be with the times as well. The Tundra and this SUV the mpg is the worst in the industry. Period. As far as reliability goes it’s at the highest level. So if you are some that puts 12k and less a year these vehicles are good for you. But if you are a guy like me that does 30 k plus you will never look at them. It’s unfortunate.

    • @maddog8148
      @maddog8148 Před 5 lety +4

      Yang Lu the one thing I do love about this suv is that it’s manly looking. I’m so tired of every suv that looks so round and weak. The Nissans, range rovers, etc. good suvs bit just looks like just a woman should drive it. No offer to any women but I think you know what I mean. Toyota’s new RAV 4 looks good. It looks like the Tacoma. The Tacoma I love.

    • @yanglu9555
      @yanglu9555 Před 5 lety

      Maddog8148 , your so right about Toyota takes time to develop and perfect their craft. But it seem like the older I am the more impatient I am with things. Lol Sorry but that's the Asian side of me talking. They sure are reliable vehicles and for my family we are some loyal customers. Between my parents, wife and I, aunts and uncles we have 14+ Toyotas, the oldest one is a 1992 Toyota Corolla with 216k+ to the newest is 2017 Toyota Sequoia with 34k. So loyalty does run in my blood.
      Well, hahaha, I understand what your saying about being 'womanly'. That is one thing why I keep doing my research and see which one is going to be the best fit for my needs. At one point i had a 2006 Toyota Highlander, I love that thing until a kid ran his light and I T-Boned him. The airbag deployed, but I didn't have a scratch on me other than a sore and browsed knee and few sore fingers (wait, this doesn't sound right.... Lol). So therefore, safety is my first concern as well as the other stuff that I mentioned.
