I went to school with Carter and was in the same graduating class. This happened the morning of the first day of senior year so the school gave him an honorary diploma at graduation. His younger sister walked the stage to receive it and there probably wasn't a dry eye in the whole place. He will be missed.
I remember that vividly. Carter and I were classmates in junior year, and while we weren’t friends he always treated me with decency and respect. Graduation felt somewhat somber seeing his sister going up to receive the diploma Carter was robbed of.

Thank you for the respectful video. Jeffrey was my best friend in elementary school- I can promise you he was not faking or ‘acting crazy’. Everything you described is as I remember him when we were children- he was well known in school to have no impulse control or judgment of right and wrong, and would, on occasion, get up on the desks and howl like a wolf, and even bite people. We would often play imagination games during recess, and the ‘invisible dog’ thing was a common part. I was never allowed to go home with him, but I met his grandparents, and they seemed kind, like they were doing their best, but were simply overwhelmed.
The last time I saw him was the December before the murders- I was home from college, and he was working at a craft store near North Point Mall. I remember remarking to my mom that he seemed more stable, and I was happy for him. And then the next time I hear of him, it’s this on the news. It was such a shock.
I went to school with Carter Davis. Had a class with him. While we weren’t exactly friends, he was one of the few people who treated me with kindness. I can say that he was a good guy and he’s still missed to this day by people who knew him.

Seeing the detective cry while giving evidence made me realize how difficult it can be for detectives to have to listen to the gory details - and not respond as they would probably wish to - Total Respect....!

Granted to have to know your job. I'm sure the police want to rip the guys up in the interrogation room, but often minimization techniques get the confession much better.

I just don't think a police officer should be snarky and disrespectful, that's totally uncalled for. I really didn't like her abrasive tone. Jeff should have stopped talking to her immediately but didn't have the mental sanity to.

'He got the female out of the car and made her lean over the hood and he spanked her. The he shot her'. God. The things parents and family members have to go through in a trial. And it destroyed the detective too, having to recount that in front of the family members. I can't imagine the pain. And it is more crazy and numbing to just think the victims were at the wrong place and at the wrong time. He just happened to be there and decided to kill spontaneously. It's f scary.

I just started watching these true mystery stories and have noticed such an enormous change in my alertness both inside and outside my home. Because I have a large dog I was constantly forgetting to lock my doors and had a bad habit of going and standing by people's car doors that I didn't know and chatting with them through duh window. I weigh 110 lb and someone would be able to yank me inside in a few seconds. I even met this man and I told him I was having a difficult time finding anyone to cut my lawn for me. He took my number saying he knew someone and he'd have them give me a call he called on a Sunday and said you know I don't have anything to do why don't I come over and take a look and he says I have a big driving lawn mower and I can probably take care of it for you in no time. The guy ended up asking for $20 for gas and calling back two weeks later apologizing for not following through and that he would get the 20 bucks back to me. He was obviously an absolute loser that probably ran out of beer money figured out a way to take advantage of a nice lady and did. When I watch these shows I get so angry with myself because I never should have allowed a complete stranger to even set foot on my property guard dog or not. We watch all of these random act of kindness videos on CZcams and the reality of it is people are simply not spending their time helping other people. My new rule if they offer to help I walk the other way quickly we live in a very scary world and not everyone looks as creepy as this kid did. Anyway I'll keep on watching until it gets so ingrained in my head that I will never be careless again. I realize so often it's being in the wrong place at the wrong time but bless these kids hearts if they hadn't got together behind a grocery store at 3 a.m. in the morning they would still be here with us. They are of course not responsible but that was a bad choice.
The detective was pulling an Amber heard for the court. In interrogation she was calm cool and collected. This was 100 percent avoidable if people listened to the grandparents. We don’t prevent crimes, we punish them after and it’s disgusting.
@@degarri7995perhaps but keep in mind the detective wasn't sitting directly in front of the victim's parents when questioning the criminal. Two completely distinct scenarios.
Hello, thank you for making this video. I was in marching band with Natalie (she was in color guard, but we all saw each other regularly). This completely affected not only myself mentally but our entire community of Roswell. I have never really felt safe here ever again. The Publix where this occurred is very nearby my house and Ive never been able to step foot near it without feeling sick.
Natalie was a beautiful person. My fondest memory that I have of her is when we were eating before one of our marching band home games. She invited me to sit with her and her sister, was nothing but kind and inviting to me, and even sang to me and her as we sat there. She had a beautiful voice and I will always remember her in this way and I hope all of you will as well ❤😊

I live just 30 min away from where this happened and I remember when it happened but I never knew how it ended, so thank you for covering it. I do agree that Jeffrey suffered from some mental illness and probably issues from his mother’s substance abuse, but I felt like he was putting on “crazy” as a defense. I think he knew what he did, even returned to the scene to lose the bodies, then drove to his girlfriends house. I’m glad he will never be free again. So sorry to the families of Carter and Natalie for their loss.
You should check out the cops that arrested someone based off of a coin flip on 92. Raintree Dr behind the skyzone/Publix area is a hotbed of dealers. I knew a lot of upper class horseshoe bend people with dealers so close in Roswell or Sandy Springs.

I love the way the police officer reacts to Jeffrey's claims during the interrogation footage, it's almost like she has seen her fair share of people pretend to be mentally incompetent for trial and she's sick of it.

My adopted son was born with FAS. And his behavior is getting more erratic and violent. And the system will not properly help us get him treated. I have listened to enough of these to worry where this will end up 😔
I’m so sorry to hear this. My nephews are adopted brothers saved from drug addicted parents who abandoned them to starve. The eldest was whip smart, but ended up a homeless drug addict by choice (despite all of the love and care and help his adoptive parents gave him or got him). The youngest was a drug baby and had a learning disability, but he ran away (as an adult) and learned a trade and supported himself elsewhere. Then he eventually returned to his home town, got a job, met a woman and had a child with her. They’re still together and stable. It’s almost random how children with a trauma background and related health problems turn out. It’s difficult to find effective help, but all parents can do is their best. I hope you’re able to find real, effective help for your child.
HELLO ADRIAN! I really hope this reaches you (somehow) but im sure this will get drowned out in the comments lol. Could you look into the case of "Seath Jackson" in the city of Ocala, Florida? It was a BRUTAL story of a young high schooler involving 6 people plotting his death. A very sad story in my hometown that left us devastated. Something that may be up your alley!

Yes, his comments had me rolling. My husband (born in the north) loves his vaguely tea flavored sugar water. I was born in the south and prefer my tea strong enough to walk on it's own with no sugar at all.
I live in Atlanta and I remember when this happened. I had friends who knew Natalie. So awful and heartbreaking. Thank you for bringing this horrible crime to light.
I'm not kidding, I served Jeffrey and his gf food at Town Center Mall at the time of his crimes. My coworker and I were talking about the weird way they held their food when they ate. We weren't people watchers, they grabbed our attention. Jeffrey came up for a refill when I noticed his Rush - Spirit of Radio shirt, I said "Nice shirt, I love Rush!" He quietly switched instantly and looked at me quizzically, asking "Do you? Love Rush?". I confirmed and he continued, "What albums or songs do you like?" Innocent enough so I listed my favs, why not, but something was up the way he was. To my list he knodded and replied, "... Okay..." He took his drink and sat down. I knew our exchange was something specific. A few weeks later, my coworker texted me an AJC picture of Jeffrey in court wearing county jail jumpsuit, followed by the article after I said "is that the guy?" I recognized him immediately and followed the awful case. Since then I wonder if he considered me for an "assassination" target if I didn't pass the "Rush Test". Who knows, either way I was kind and genuine towards the guy. You never know who you're talking to or what they have in mind, for better or worse. Thoughts and prayers for those kids' family and friends.

You absolutely CAN break into a safe. Pretty easily in fact. All you need is a stethoscope. You spin the tumbler and listen for the clicks of the pins dropping into place. After a few minutes of that you can figure out the combination.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why his grandparents didn't check the safe after they kicked him out, or even before, to make sure he had taken no weapons with him. They would have discovered the missing gun and then could have called the police to be on the lookout for him. The gun was stolen property and he could have been arrested and gotten help for his state of mind at that time. The grandparents knew he was a ticking time bomb.

Those old folks should not have been taking care of that kid to begin with. Their daughter was a mess and proof of their lack of parenting skills. Add diminished thinking that sometimes comes with aging and the fact that they were probably emotionally & physically drained from dealing with Jeff for years. Recipe for disaster.

Thank you for mentioning FASD! He almost certainly had it and it definitely influenced his difficulties. With more awareness people like him can access early intervention and tragedies like this can be averted

FASD can cause incredibly poor judgement and impulsivity. People with FASD can also have incredibly good verbal skills, which with one sufferer allowed him to get through a job interview only to be incapable of doing the job. People with FASD can appear very capable due to verbal abilities, but in fact are profoundly disabled and need intensive support from family, employers, carers etc, but with the right support can succeed at life.
Jeffrey would have had a lot of trouble with exercising good judgement, he simply wouldn't have thought murder through, the consequences wouldn't have occurred to him, he could have been verbally very articulate though making him look a lot more competent and able to think things through than he actually was.

This monster reminds me of the character Roy from "Primal Fear." He's trying to play as if he has some form of dissociative identity disorder, but in reality he was more than aware of what he had done. I feel bad for the grandparents who were so afraid they had lock their own doors to protect themselves from their deranged grandson.

Regardless of his prognosis he still killed two teens. He will be spending the rest of his life in a mental health facility where he can be correctly diagnosed and treated. But his mother needs to be held accountable. What a selfish thing to do.

You can't even accurately decide if your life was just like theirs as you've lived a whole detailed life, heard a summary of theirs, and superimposed the details of yours on top. There's a lot of assumption there. If people could be mathematically programmed to be good, healthy people with a single style of upbringing, then we would just do that. But human beings are much less of an exact science than you seem to think.

Thank you for covering this case. I was living in Roswell when this happened and lived near the Publix where this happened. The community was shocked and saddened by this. Crimes like this didn't happen in this area.

I'm glad you mentioned the FAS toward the end. Throughout the video I found myself wondering what kind of person Jeffrey may have been if his mother hadn't abused substances while pregnant with him. He started out life with strikes against him that were completely outside his control. It's not often that I see the criminal as also being a victim.
Thank you for acknowledging that criminals can also be victims. Too many people are quick to label them all evil, when, in some cases like this one, they are an unfortunate creation of their environment.
It's tragic all around. I pity him. He was dealt a horrific hand in life by his mother's substance abuse before he was even born. It seems pretty clear he didn't get the professional help and support he clearly needed to manage the mental health conditions that start in life gave him. What he did was monstrous, but it seems to be a product of so many failures from so many people.
FAS in particular can impair impulse control and lead to aggressive behaviour and outbursts. If he had a severe case of it it definitely makes him less criminally responsible. Either way though he can never be free again. Too dangerous

Damn, I remember when this happened, a lot of people around town were real freaked out. Kids weren't allowed to walk outside unsupervised, you better believe nobody left the house at night, it was just odd for our town. I ended up working at that Publix for a while too.
I was in Carter’s class at River Ridge. While we weren’t friends, he treated me with decency where most others didn’t. When I heard about the murder, I remember almost sneaking out in an attempt to pull some vigilante shit with a costume I threw together from some old clothes. I was nearly out the window when I started thinking that it wasn’t a good idea. Carter is still missed and his jersey still proudly hangs in the halls of River Ridge. RIP #4.

While I do feel terrible for Carter, seeing your boyfriend/close friend getting shot, getting taped and then killed execution style must’ve been terrible. Natalie went through hell before her death. This monster does not deserve any sympathy. One of the worst things I’ve heard of, alongside the hell Castro and Fritzl put their victims through, it’s hard to compare because they are alive but they were tortured for much longer….

This one really got to me, so tragic and senseless. Cases like this can make you feel afraid to even leave the house. You never know if you are in the vicinity of a truly crazy and evil person, and what might trigger them to 'snap'.

Richard Ramirez was born into poverty and his older brother got him into selling drugs, doing drugs, and living a life on the streets.
The Green Ridgeway killer had a father with horrible views towards Women, as he would teach his son that Women who dressed like trash or sold themselves for money, were no better than trash. This would also drive the son to hate his mother as well, as she would dress a certain way in and out of the house. Which is the reason why I think he killed all the Women that he had issues with and then he dump their bodies into the river.
Aileen was betrayed by friends and family, so at that point she sold herself off to make money, but she became mentally unstable and ended becoming insane.
Jeffery Dahmer and Ed Gein were also people who had issues as children.
Dahmer had certain tendencies towards Men, sexual tendencies. I believe he could it expressed these feelings and that’s he became the way that he was.
Ed Gein was abused by his mother frequently and had lived a sheltered life, which made him go crazy when his mother passed away and at that point he started killing people.
I believe everyone has a limit before they snap, so imo I believe people should be nicer, more respectful, and parents shouldn’t force their awful beliefs onto their children.
Idk if it could have been avoided, if you could prove that they were a danger to the public maybe, but like that takes a while.
@@Roasty420 Psych research shows it depends. Sociopaths are chaotic, disorganised , impulsive & often 'snap'. They will often blitz/frenzy attack & overkill (carrying on attacking after the victim is already dead). Psychopaths are logical, methodical, plan their kills & often stalk a victim. 70% of murders involve stalking the victim first.

Tbf discipline and high intensity excercise have also shown to be pretty good tools in managing "male emotions". Still obvious that wasn't what HE needed, hopefully the change they're talking about in the military is actually happening.
What Jeffrey needed is mental health therapy. And strict discipline with consequences for his behavior.
When they heard him saying that people are gonna get hurt that's a red flag and he should've been evaluated by mental health professionals. He could've stayed in a mental health hospital for a complete mental health evaluation and diagnosis and they could've decided the best course of action from there.
If he had gotten treatment way earlier maybe things would've turned out differently.

While I don’t agree with the way Trevor addressed it, they’re probably referring to the fact that there are different regional distinctions. While I don’t know specifics on Britain because I haven’t lived there (and I wouldn’t expect anyone to know these distinctions unless they live in the area) it’s much like how you can break down accents in the US like an east coast accent, a country accent, a west coast accent, a Midwest accent, etc. These of course can be broken down by state, and further broken down by areas of the state (as someone who lives in Ohio, for example, I can tell you who has spent some time in northern, central or southern Ohio based on accents).
But so long as you’re not using an accent to discriminate against or generalize other people, it’s not hurting anything. I laugh when someone says I have a country accent. I discuss stories when people say they can’t tell where I’m from specifically because I’ve lived in many places, and in general my accent adapts slightly to who I’m speaking to.
But I can guarantee you, discussing someone’s accent shift in this context, to contextualize an abnormal shift in someone’s vernacular, is not generalizing a community or speaking poorly towards them. It’s identifying a clear and distinct change, and particularly to something that would otherwise be abnormal for them given their circumstances. The person expressing that generalization isn’t going to know every potential sub category

Hey Adrian, if I may, I’d like to recommend you cover a case of Russel Williams. He’s a former Canadian Air Force colonel turned serial killer. Word is he even once flew some royalties around (might have even been Queen Elizabeth). Thanks for your vids. Keep up the great work!
Many other channels have covered Russell Williams. The interrogation by detective Jim Smyth was definitely a solid interaction. Williams had went into the interview with the idea that he would walk out a free man, but obviously he was no match for the detective

The first I'd been made aware of regarding the city. Also, there's more to Georgia (state) than sweet tea (which, I just call syrup so I agree...). I think it's pretty hard to pin down Jeff's motives, but just using my gut, I feel like Jeff had retreated to a place he felt was isolated from others bc he was upset. maybe he was even contemplating suicide. Then come these two teens, ready to have fun, which infuriates him. how dare they intrude on him. I think that he probably looked at them as normies and imagined them as his complete opposite: able to have a fun fling while he was in mental anguish, probably able to go home to a stable family life, able to have a bright future. so he lets out all his rage on them, because how dare they.
That's only a guess, though.
just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. anger and frustration doesn't need a good reason to kill.

I work in mental health. It's what I'm passionate about. Most of my patients have criminal records or will be facing consequences with the law when they leave our unit. In my opinion, the defendant was absolutely in acute psychosis and alarm bells should have been ringing like freight trains years ago.

Whoa… I never thought I would see this on your channel. I went to school with Natalie, at the time I was a freshman at Roswell High. She was a grade or two ahead of me. She seemed like a nice person. I didn’t know her much at all, but this story is the saddest thing ever. Absolutely a fucking tragedy. Roswell was looked at as a very safe suburb in Georgia, so it really shook up the community. It was just so bold, random, kinda never heard of for the area and just plain scary. I grew up in Roswell, and I can definitely say this was the situation that made people realize that anything can happen anywhere. Condolences to the families 💐. R.I.P. Carter & Natalie. Thanks for bringing this to light.

I have a friend who fought for over a month to get her son, suffering from fetal alcohol disorder, out of being fully restrained in a small room in the ER and into a residential care facility. She fortunately had the support and finances to do this, but she knows many other parents of children who need the same help and cannot get it. Our systems are broken. We wait for someone to commit a crime and then lock them up. It’s easy to say they should have gotten him help, but seeing what it took for her to get that help was eye-opening. (And this put one of her other kids into a massive panic attack once the event was finally over, requiring her to be hospitalized for a short while as well.) Our prison system should not be the biggest provider of mental health services, but here we are.

So heartbreaking that these murders were so evil so random. Those beautiful kids. As for the murderer he was a cry for help and was not helped. I don't think the grandparents can be blamed as it seems they did what they knew to do. My heart goes out to the victims loved ones.

Definitely a chilling tale. I don't even know how to reconcile it, dealing with mental illness myself. Was he faking to receive a reduced sentence by exaggerating his symptoms or was this truly a preventable crime if support had been there? Who knows?
You'll probably not read this but I've been curious if you've ever thought of releasing your videos "live" and speaking with fans about each case via chat? I know that would definitely be a lot more work for you but I follow a few channels that do this and it definitely creates more opportunities for interactions with your audience.

It's crazy how someone can kill people horrendously but as soon as they get hurt themselves or caught by law enforcement they turn into a big ass crybaby! SMH
