This beef is about to get ugly and this apology will end up aging like the finest of wines, watch. I’m also not kidding when I say that this alone made me consider revisiting Cole’s music again. The bars about him “wanting smoke” and him “being the greatest of all time” will never sound not goofy now, but I suspect Jermaine could’ve seen this getting nasty afterwards, and he did not want to force any tension. Knowing Kendrick’s and Drake’s relationship this was never going to be just about lyrically challenging the top MC’s in the game, this was GOING to be ugly and I’d hate to see such a good spirit like Cole, who I don’t think has any skeleton in the closet at all, being spat on and torn to shreds. I just hope he’s doing okay.

I never felt wrong about this apology for the simple fact that back when control dropped Kendrick made it clear that he had love for everyone mentioned, but that he wanted some friendly competition. Now, the real issue is that Drake took it personal and they even have the interview with him talking about it, where he really felt some type of way over the control verse. Now in my opinion, Cole and Kendrick never really had bad blood. So I think that j Cole responded and then probably took a minute to think about it like no Kendrick is really tight. He's not doing a friendly competition thing. He's actually tight right now. And that's probably why he backed up and apologized. He didn't want kendrick to think that he was taking everything personal, like he had an issue with him, when he didn't.
