Actually not completely. Sometimes the boy is delinquent, so they fear him. Most of the time it is his responsibility to be safe and if he does anything he will get punished by society and law anyways. For women not so. You see for women, parents have to take responsibility, but for men the man has to take responsibility.
I personally don't think boys should get special treatment over girls in the home environment. It'll feel like favoritism towards the other siblings in the home.
