- Hey guys! Thought I'd give you guys another update on how the end-game scaling is going on the build. In certain situations we are almost dot capped!
Between upgrading the axe, gem swapping, and adding a cluster jewel the damage starts becoming quite high.

Man when i leaguestarted this i tought we where all just gonna meme together but dam this build rocks. clearing t16 maps with such ease. like you said i stopped going for more damage because the pops where no longer going off making me fear DD. great build once again! and thanks for all the updates!
Really appreciate this. I've been absolutely loving this build. My favorite build I've ever played. Finished the campaign today and jumped right into high yellow maps. After a couple Expedition crafting successes I'm already in red maps at lvl 79. Just destroying everything. I love running face first into every mob and daring them to hit you.
I'm using the node where every 4th retaliation is a crit, it might not look like but it's almost always the strongest dot on the boss at all times. It really helps out the low end gearing and helps reach out dot cap easier

are you just leveraging the innate crit = +50% dot multi? Or using perfect agony somehow?

Just finished a random blight map today, was a 20% ilvl 85 reaver axe on the ground. Alt spammed Dictator, hit it with a fracture. Got it first try. Essence spammed contempt until T1 IAS and annul until open prefix. Hit it with veiled orb, saved attack speed, landed on prefix. Unveiled bleed chance phys damage. Bench craft Pdot. Total craft took me 15 divines. Luckiest craft of my life. 650dps with Pdot.

The build is great, just has some serious issue with petrified tree mechanic
use enduring cry to taunt the enemies off the tree and into attacking you

Could use a taunt flask for that, might work fine. I didn't test myself yet.

I've been jumping from build to build (homebrewed or not) since the beginning of the league in SSF. Well, usually that's the case, I'm now at leveling to maps in 4-5 hours on a new character at a comfortable pace. Usually it takes me anywhere from 3 to 10 alts before I find one character I want to actually do all content with and not just get a bunch of stones.
I'm on a new one right now ― a stupid idea: occultist slammer, cold conversion, chain chaos explosions (scaling some minion damage for generic damage; and going crit staff).
If this is a disaster/doesn't feel nice to play (defensively I'm worried but we'll see)... you sticking to your retaliation (IMO very interesting skills mechanically) build for a week and posting updates, it's been really nice to follow. So, if this one doesn't go well, I'll be trying your build, it looks juicy. But I might feel the need to incorporate chain explosions somehow, unless the screenwipe is fine with the skill (it seems to be, which is rare, usually people get chest pieces or flasks or Asenath or whatever the hell on gear).

I wish I was smart enough to come to these conclusions on my own without the use of a guide but damn several of my ideas were shot down here. I'm glad to know better now but I just seem to be missing a major nuance about character growth in this game. 2k hours in and i'm not sure ill ever 'get it' without needing help.
Really strong build, i've followed your pob to 4 voidstones but went the frenzy/affliction stacking route with masterful form, because i don't like the fishing for bleeds gameplay with ryslatha + volatility. Not done upgrading gear but it looks promising too !
PS : about the hit damage of eviscerate being too high and not proccing bleed pop, i've found that shield charging through the map with an autocast vulnerability usually is enough to pop most non-rare mob packs
I started following along your build back when the league launched, and I have to say, it grabbed me in a way that Berserker Barb absolutely failed to. For one it's tank is phenomenal, and having used DoT builds in the past, fits well within my playstyle.
Ran into some niche situations where things don't attack you like when you have to protect zana. Basalt Flask is pretty nice for that, I'm now using one permanent. Great Build, having a blast.
Yeah I realized that basalt is pretty good but I've been using a gold flask mostly for extra gold XD, good idea for sure though!
Didn't even think of that, welp, Basalt gets benched again ^^
Thanks Goratha, I am currently running Steel's version with Groundslam of earthshaking as a Chieftain, also lots of fun but I definitely would like to give it a try as well with Gladiator, with a shield and max block. I think that feeling of being near immortal while also dealing good damage is going to be lots of fun!
But, i need to stack up some currency and finish the current build first else I will be stuck half way between 2 builds :D
I've been playing with the sword storm retaliation and it's been going well for me as well.
This builds low-key so good 😂😂😂 I've gotten all my voidstones and been farming t17 s. Kinda used the build like a template took it my own direction and it feels so good

I tried using a Cluster setup aswell and used up ither axe bodes for it, but they allmhad Attack speed and it felt sooo much worse to play. Anyone else had the problem? Or a way to get attack speed else ?
Yeah this goes over my head with crafting and swapping out, i just stalked your poe and followed it. Got a t17 boss down, pretty good and i can improve a lot with gear still.

I followed this build for my second character this league, really loving it and i think i want to push a bit further with it than i did with my first build. Its been fun in maps and super strong so far. I look forward to the build guide on it.

I'm playing similar build, and you can easily get ailment immunity on this build with a few tweaks to some items and 20% immunity on shield mastery
I have had bad currency drops so I don't have good dps and only two voidstones, but I can do rare T16s without worrying about going below 50% hp, even without suppression gear or life on block shield
tapping Q & W to spam my retaliates kills my fingers but is hilarious xD

6:50 I have the 12 sec endurance charge on chest but it doesn't work. There's a tiny, tiny delay between when the stacks drop and when it gets refreshed :(.
Edit: Just to be clear, I have the 20% inc end charge node before the +1 max end charges. The weird thing is that it works from going from charge 1 to 2. But at the very end of charge 2 it goes to 1 again instead of stacking higher.
Yeah, I ran into this too, seems to be some server tick issue, you have to go to 11 for it to work

Edit: Still specced out the 5 points, used 1 point for a smol 20% end charge duration next to the +1 max end charges to the left of Marauder start. Still think it's worth for 4 points but kinda sad.
@goratha - I remember you having poison immunity from a ring earlier, what are you doing vs poison on your finalized build? I was thinking of getting it on boots.

@@Goratha oh so you just get high chaos resist and dont really sweat it otherwise it sounds like. i do enjoy the 8% armor/evasion per e charge anyway
Hi, there's not enough space on the bar for all the spells! Is Penance Mark just for bosses? Does that mean Vulnerability is no longer useful? And when should I use Enduring Charges? Thanks in advance!
there's a second bar that you can rebind - for curses technically you could use penance mark to proc retaliate and then vuln before attacking on bosses but might be a bit clunky
for enduring cry you just use it on bosses basically if your endurance charges are falling off

Hello, I checked out the pob and tried to craft the tincture but it doesn't seem possible to get the same rolls. I get DOT mult with melee weapon attacks but not just DOT mult. Am I doing something wrong or is the item in pob incorrect? idk much on crafting as i am new to the game.

I have maim on crushing fist and still use it for the 10% phys taken.
If you take out crushing fist completely, you can run a 4 link of bladestorm with fortify and maim, I think that's what I'll try

Since we're finding Crushing Fist to be less of a must-have, what do you think about using a Lacerate (of Haem) 6L for single target and an Evis 4L for clear (along with Shield Charge)?
I really don't think lacerate is better for bossing, but if it fits your playstyle better then it should work well
I"m hoping you'll do the full build guide. I'm still relatively new to poe despite having 1k hours in the game. The problem lies in the mid-late game. The build is functional but its where the fancy mods you want from gear that is the problem. I'm not sure what to do here. I bought some stuff hoping to luck out of crafting my own because I do not trust the pricing of some trades. I don't know what is considered good prices or if those are scam prices.

My shield landed with recover life on block but I'm not sure what other steps to do there. I think I'm just ignorant of the late game phase. IE not fully knowing what available options are out there. I've been casually collecting essences and spamming harvest craft so far. Not very productive.
This is a game where you REALLY cannot just "throw stuff at the craft and see what happens". In order to craft good items (at any stage of the game) you must know what your end goal is and the entire process needs to be determined from the beginning. A single mod difference (or less or more) could mean an entirely different crafting configuration.
I think i must have done something wrong because for me retaliate felt like absolute garbage so i switch to lacerate of haemorage feel much more satisfied. Might be i dont have that much time and currency to pour into a build i guess.
might be a dumb question. is it possible if i were to use lacerate instead of eviscerate?
Sure, you'd just drop the retaliation nodes for axe nodes for the most part
I did that earlier this week. Lacerate just feels too clunky with its hits. Wasn't a fan.

I tried lacerate but the reach is so lame, so i'm still using sunder, i have done all the content except uber bosses, but not as high single target damage as you have here.
Why do you use bladestorm? Just for the maim?
Did you craft the shield? do you have a guide?
I'm still wondering how you have a tincture the way it is in pob, all I see is "X% chance to cause Bleeding with Melee Weapons", "X% increased Damage with Bleeding from Melee Weapons" and doesn't drop the "Increased damage over time multiplier" but drops increased damage over time with melee attacks" which renders the tincture pretty much useless
Did you craft the tincture somehow or was there an update that ruined the tincture?

Hiho! how you are able to reach 90% both block? I have similar build with 68(95) attack & 50 spell block so the cap is much smaller

Its mean when i deal 9 sec bleed, then after 4 sec rest of bleed 5 sec will be aggravated?
You have to attack to aggravate them. It means if you inflicted a 9 seconds bleed to the enemy, after 4 seconds have passed, your next hit will aggravate that bleed stack.

With -mana cost ring and amulet, it's really not necessary at all.
am i doing something wrong with pob or why does my random ssf 400pds no dot axe that i picked up from the ground is 30% better then jack the axe. is there any setting i should change for it?
or is it only good with ryslathas coil belt?
jack the axe is just a starter weapon, it has nice recovery and good enough dmg to get 4 stones, for the setting you'd need to make the mob bleed though for 35 dot multi and enable thirst for blood for 20% more bleed on POB
@@Goratha Since the upgrade to a 600 pDPS axe with bleed and or damage over time multi is like a 30+d div investment does going first to something like a well rolled 520 pDPS soultaker fit in as a stepping tone between Jack the Ax and a real rare?

hi. in pob your blood tincture have to damage over time multiplier, but in trade i can only find to damage over time multiplier with melee weapon attacks. is this the same or i miss something?
it's the same, the version in-game doesnt work in pob yet

Is there any point in getting spell suppression in softcore if I have lucky spell block? I feel like getting spell suppression on top of max block is only worth it if you're in hardcore.
@@admiralcoffeemaker6310 I tried this, and it's really easy to die with no spell suppression.
Especially when there's crit mods on your maps
You would have to try it out to see what is worth it
Maybe dropping suppression for melding is worth it?
Would have to check what spells with pen you can tank and how it differs with each thing
Maybe going the timeless jewel for lightning and cold taken as fire?
Wait until they find out how to auto cast retal skill. Rf but better for everyone.
I just feel like im missing something here becasue my bleed damage is just trash I mean my gear isnt the best im on ssf but my bleed damage should be decent and I pob it and it says its like 100k im still using jack the axe until I can craft the 28% quality reaver I found I just feel like I should be doing more damage and cant figure out why im not lol

Also without RT I have like 45% chance to hit enemies --- this makes maiming/aggravating with bladestorm kinda clunky. How have you solved this/thought about it?
even 45% is fine since bladestorm hits so much + multiple of them - also you never drop measured retaliation, I was talking about the node on the tree
@@Goratha it's 45% to hit but then only 10% to aggravate on top of that --- so it's 1 in every 20 bladestorm attacks that will aggravate? It has felt very clunky to get out multiple bladestorms, i imagine it will be better if I get some attack speed on my axe, but even so.
Can I ask, in prolonged fights are you usually spamming evis/crushing fist? or do you proc 1 or 2 retaliations and mainly stick to casting more bladestorms? That playstyle difference could be the reason why I found 45% hit insufficient to proc aggravate.
I did some more research and found that with glove implicit and quality on vuln we get 25% chance to aggravate on hit, which is much better and feels ok to use without RT. Still probably worth the 2 points while we're still on 10% chance to aggravate!
i win, just sniped a 48% ryslathas for 3div
The "less Minimum Physical Attack Damage" roll is also important. If it is too high, you will roll a lot of bad bleeds before getting a big one.
@@NoFailer its actually not important at all, its already so low with ryslatha + volatility your min roll could be 1 and it wouldnt change anything

How would the damage be compared to swordstorm with dual axes. You can add jack the axe or another crazy axe and swordstorm takes both weapons damage together. You can then use crimson dance to have much higher damage. Why would this be lower damage compared to eviscerate?
you wouldn't go bleed with swordstorm, you want one large hit for bleed

@@GenocideLv Nope you can run flat reserves on top of eternal blessing, just can't use multiple % reserves.

Passive notable, vulnerability quality and glove implicit all give chance to aggravate, then you bladestorm to proc it.

Jack the Axe is cheap and good enough for 4 voidstones at least.

@@brofst Getting + to phys DoT multiplier and some flat phys on jewelry can also make a big difference. There's also getting awakened/quality gems. Getting a well-rolled tincture also makes a big difference as does making sure you're landing big bleeds and aggravating them (meaning you need to be retriggering your eviscerate *and* hitting with another attack, usually bladestorm, and have quality on vulnerability). The weapon is definitely important but all those things can also make a huge difference. Oh and don't forget having a well-rolled Ryslatha's, that's huge as well.
That being said, I'm also having a hard time seeing how I'm going to get up to even 10 mil let alone 30mil DPS (currently at 5mil). My weapon is a 450 phys DPS reaver axe with no multiplier so obviously that's hurting a lot, but even if I swap in a really good weapon I don't get near 10mil. A 20div weapon brings me to 7.5mil. So there's still a TON of min-maxing involved beyond getting a good weapon.
Bro 20M damage is a lie. There is no ticture mode with "Increased damage with bleeding". There is one with "Increased damage with bleeding from melee weapons." Looks like the same but calculates differently. It drops to 9M as soon as you correct that. 9M damage ON LOW LIFE. So you got 7m at the start.
So effectivly till you get mid game to early end game you will have 1-2m damage. Evisarate and Crushing Fist has 70% chance to not use charges but it feel clunky. Sometimes you spam skill and you char doesnt attack cuz you couldnt hit 70% change. Mapping is super slow. You need to wait mobs to hit you so can hit back. Dying to initial first hit is a thing. Has too many buttons. You go bladestrom, vulnerebility, banner, penance mark and then you ready to use some attack moves.
You can open Expedition, Strongboxes and Ritual at the same time and leave AFK. It has 90% block and 88% spell block with 5% HP on block, which is 250HP for 5k HP.
Dont know man. It does the job i guess... but slow and clunky as i said. Damage is not 20m tho. PoB needs to be looked at.
huh? the tincture mod in game isnt updated in POB yet, so I had to do it manually, the rest of what you said is just personal preference
