    OMG..this is so helpful! it brought me back the the times when I was a trainer for L&D...we did almost all of the things you mentioned! Esp when our manager would gather us all and we talk about creative problem solving and we collaborate on how to better the current modules we have.
    L&D is so important that there is no value one can place on the services this department brings to the organization!

    I've done some L&D work informally at past nonprofits I worked at and I have a background in education but never considered myself going into it professionally. This video not only educated me but also validated some of the instinctual skills I used to help with training in my past companies.
    I relatively recently made a pivot into copywriting, but have been re-inspired to look into organizational culture and L&D work. Thanks again -- I'm also going to look into the free guide your team offers. :)

    Working through all the L&D videos this week and really finding them helpful. Thank you. Question - Is it better to have people fill out an intake form first then meet? I hate meeting cold and find it helpful in my educational setting to always have as much info as I can going into a consult. Or is that too cumbersome in a corporate L&D world so you just basically do that step in session?

    I'm interested in L&D. I have a little experience as a teacher and I also have some experience as a trainer. Between the two, that's almost 6 years of superficial experience but it is not enough to enter the world of L&D.
    What would it be the best way to "hit the ground running" to gain the relevant and experience to enter L&D?
    Thank you. Great video!

    • @TheLnDAcademy
      @TheLnDAcademy  Před 4 měsíci

      That’s already a great start! There are tons of things you can do. But the first one is figuring out which part of L&D you’re most interested in. There are the classics - trainer, instructional designer, facilitator, coach. But there are some lesser known roles as well - administrator, analyst, project or program manager, leadership development, team development and so many others. Once you know what specific role you’re after, you can start building your transferable and specific skills.
      We created a free 5-day course in starting a career in L&D. You can check it out here: www.thelndacademy.com/start-a-career-in-learning-and-development

    Hi thanks for this amazing presentation. I have recently applied for an L&D specialist position. Im currently working as a trainer and assessor and a lot of experience creating courses and designs. However, the requires me to troubleshoot moodle LMS. How much is that part of your job? Is that a normal expectation from an L&D specialist?
    Thank you in advance :)

    • @TheLnDAcademy
      @TheLnDAcademy  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks for reaching out. By the sounds of it, it could absolutely be part of the L&D specialist’s role. But then again, you need to know exactly what troubleshooting means. If it just addressing learners and issues they may have, that’s one thing. Having to code stuff - that’s a whole different ball game! Just check the job description and if you have any questions or concerns, talk to the hiring manager or talent acquisition representative.
      In our free course “Starting a career in L&D”, we talk about the different roles within L&D. You can check it out here: www.thelndacademy.com/start-a-career-in-learning-and-development

    thank you for sharing this content. I'd like to ask to you a question about hard skills for this very intresting job. In your opinion, what are the main hard skills that a L&d have to possess? I'am a psychologyst student, and i'd like to start new courses to improving my hard skills (sorry for the english, i am italian and i'm traing to improve ;)

    • @TheLnDAcademy
      @TheLnDAcademy  Před měsícem

      What a wonderful question! There are many different hard skills you might need depending on the L&D role you are interested in (Check out our video on the many roles of L&D: czcams.com/video/L9nSSbUXxWo/video.html).
      Just as an example, let's say you are interested in becoming a Trainer. You need to know your way around the Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), analyze training needs, evaluate training success and calculate training return on investment (ROI), explain complex concepts easily (though this can be considered a mix of soft and hard skill!), facilitation, answering questions, creating and maintaining training materials, adopting training design and so on.
      We have tried to put together a list of transferable and specific competencies for some of the more popular L&D roles here: www.thelndacademy.com/product-page/l-d-competency-inventory
      P.S. Your English is awesome - no need to apologize!

    Does an L&D manager typically deliver the presentations/ trainings as well or do they oversee the specialists?

    • @TheLnDAcademy
      @TheLnDAcademy  Před 7 měsíci

      In most cases managers don’t deliver training, but could present to internal stakeholders things like learning stats or the strategy. Of course, there are exception to this rule.

  • @hemanttale6177
    @hemanttale6177 Před měsícem

    You mentioned "Change management" in the Interpersonal skills, may I know what exactly you mean from that ? as it differs industry to industry, is it managing the change requests you get while developing a training from Stakeholders ?

    • @TheLnDAcademy
      @TheLnDAcademy  Před měsícem

      Generally speaking, change management refers to the process(es) often used to manage any types of changes within an organization. It could be shifting to a new market, switching an internal or external software (like a new HR system) or changing strategic direction.
