*Describes the concept of Gunlance*
"So it's a slow weapon?"
"Well yes, but actually no."
This is by far the most accurate answer to that question
Ever so slowly the gunlance is resembling the magnet spike's mibility from frontier and i love it
Is it heavy in the ground and fast in the air?
@@randomdude6737 yeah, it's only fast moves on the ground were the evasive ones for obvious reasons
Okay but the impact damage on Reverse Blast Dash is actually hype because I love Wide Shell Wyrmstakes doing KO. I fucking love getting *KOs* on Gunlance, it feels so wrong and it's so goofy.
Why its a large Explosive Cannon with a Blade it should mollywop the monsters into submission and leave them dazed.
@@sanguinetales probably because as gunlance mains, stunning monsters with a gunlance sounds and feels so alien to us (even though it was introduced in rise and rise has been out for awhile now). So its nice to have a new tool to work with when playing the stunlance (stungun?) >:D
Wide-shelling has been my go to for a fun time, with added paralysis goofiness and yet it's surprisingly viable, even in solo
All these new moves to gunlance are amazing. It needed it bad 🙌🏼
Especially bullet barrage!!
Meanwhile the GL non explosive brother only got an unsheathed jump button and a dragoon jump
@@polinttalu7102 well, they got a buff on insta guard and anchor rage.
@@marcusaaronliaogo9158 yeah
@@polinttalu7102 and buffs all across the board. at least something. I played lance as my third weapon in world and never liked how capcom turned it into this weapon where you constantly dash around instead of taking hits like a man. might pick it back up in sunbreak.
0:19 quick reload so cool
This is what I wanted! A faster way to start blast dash with a shield bash attached to it!
I love gunlance so much, this is amazing!
Time to live out my life as a optimal Gunlance player.
Slugger, Focus, Artillery, and Load Shells.
Too bad focus sucks for gl in rise. Hopefully they fix that too.
Don't forget Wirebug Whisperer!
@@thesussadin To be fair, you can't get much shorter with Charged Shelling time, and that's probably what they were thinking of with its current state. Supercharged Shells, though, definitely could use the benefit of Focus 3.
I love how flashy it looks
"Negates all incoming damage at the start(...)"
I was expecting a full guard even during the dash, but this is good too because it seems faster than Guard Edge and doesn't have a slow recovery. Only problem is flying too soon and getting caught mid-air.
how can something be faster than guard edge?
@@lukasluna5319 yeah honestly guard edge is pretty fast and it allow to combo pretty easily if you actually counter with it. the only problem being is active duration being short as fk, making it's timing pretty hard too get
I swear that there is an almost unnoticeable window in the beginning of the animation where can still get hit, the animation of you raising your shield.
@@lukasluna5319 it's more about safety, if you try to guardedge a hard hitting monster and it has multi hitting attacks you will be vulnerable, probably worth equiping for monster you'll know have moves that can counter guard edge.
I am curious if it can be used midair, if so then it gives your blast dash approaches a way of surviving unexpected attacks.
"oh yeah, its all comin together" -Kronk
Not a lance/ gun lance main at all, but I definitely want to give Sunbreak Gun Lance a try. Looks fun!
That's awesome!
KO and s on the reverse blast dash is pretty awesome. Completely changed my opinion on it
Vaalstrax: Why do i hear boss music?
I would loved to seen an Aerial FullBurst from Reverse Blast dash. Just because normal Blast doesn’t let you do that. It’s the same input as regular blast dash in the air.
oh man they should totally let us do that it'd be so hype
You should be able to; Gunlance attacks tend to be able to be canceled with shells
Guys there is an aerial fullburst xD
Barely anyone uses it tho
@@chaoskopp5390 It's a full sentence. "Aerial Full Burst *from* Reverse Blast"
That quick single shell reload is so sexy!!!
I really hope they add extra stagger back to charged shelling, my favourite thing to do in hmw IB is stun lock monsters with wide gunlances
The erupting cannon buff could be very good for long shells, it would buff a poke and shell style. As @Cobalt Kirikizan stated, the KO damage from reverse blast dash is a nice combination with wide shells. This can be a game changer: Instead of a only full burst playstyle you get a poke/melee and shell playstyle with the long shells and a KO oriented way with wide shells.
Seeing as Erupting Cannon doesn't buff Wyrmstake the benefit seems to be Wide >Normal>Long. On Wide Erupting Cannon is stronger than Charged Shell and Wyrmstake and comes out faster- couple that with the type having the strongest regular shelling and there you go (pretty sure Supercharged Shells are buffed to the point they'll be worthwhile with this as well). While Erupting Cannon hits for the same damage on Normal and Long, Normal is actively encouraged to use more melee with the Full Burst combo while Long can get away with more shelling using Wyrmstake, Wyvernfire, and Bullet Barrage.
@@Slendysis We will have to wait till sunbreak to see if supercharge shells are worth, as of now from datamined values from the demo they are still worse during combos (2 whole seconds to fire one), only effective when waiting for monster to get in range.
The interesting thing is that EC Shell damage for wide is 30% stronger than the others, and it's dealing x2 damage of a wide charge shell but with the same speed. Damage Buff is very nice for sure but the EC's shell will be a must in masterrank combos, something wide gets to take advantage of more so with guard reload.
@@petercottantail7850 Hopium says, since they made Erupting Cannon so good for Wide, they also decreased Supercharged Shelll charge or allowed it to fire faster if you have Focus. Long and Wide Charged Shell do effectively the same damage (difference is 1 point) at max shelling so that also leaves me *hoping* Supercharged Shell is buffed
gonna call it Dash Bash for short, but holy cow it's amazing! It does everything lmfao
Just as i thought, this is the peak of gunlance :D
So differences of Normal BD and Reverse BD are:
Normal BD doesn't negate damages at the startup and u need to charge the tip of the lance a bit at first before u dash (altho with reverse u need to turn first IF u want to dash towards the monster but it's still faster than normal) and also it doesn't do any damage if u collide with a monster. Also, as shown in the vid if ur empty on shells when u activate reverse BD it reloads one shell beforehand and lets u dash afterwards wherein normal BD if u've got empty shells then it just goes into this animation that tells u u need to reload and u just stand there for a bit. And also, it doesn't spend any wirebug.
Reverse BD is an upgrade in every way even tho u need to spend a bug and replace guard edge (which personally I didn't really like anyway). For me this is amazing. More KO and faster way to attack and to get out of harm's way it looks like.
Thanks for these vids man, this is so much hype. 🔥🔥🔥
I'm amaze on what they did to gunlance in rise, from the most immobile weapon into the direct opposite of it
Man sunbreak is gonna be so lit. I never liked world and liked the old school MH's better. But this looks like a remaster of MHGU. :D
Rocket Powered Shield Bash? Damn I'm in.
I need a serious informative gunlance guide where everytime the B-roll footage uses the full burst it plays the fart+reverb sound effect.
Wow the new variant of Valstrax
I'm surprised the reverse blast dash doesn't do impact damage for when you fly towards the prey shield first before you slam/fire
Christ, Gunlance became a rocket pain.
Reverse dash looks so clunky but also really funny I love it
It's more for negating an attack of a monster charging at you. Has s at the start and if the monster is behind you after the charge, it deals damage and combos like regular blastdash. Or good if you overshoot your regular blastdash.
So basically I don’t have to choose between Blast Dash and Charged Shelling anymore. Dope!
So like if every weapon is going to have reliable KO.
Can I get a hammer wire bug that's just me pulling a knife out and slicing the tail off.
HELL YEAH
Good time for element spam combo with erupting cannon
Another move that uses wirebug but doesn't seem to use any...
I'm glad to be main on the two more broken weapons
holy GUACAMOLE
Nice
That erupting Cannon move is straight from Frontier lol.
I'm curious, can reverse blash dash also combo into aerial fullburst? Do you need to shoot a shell first to change your direction or?
There is one more component to this move that no one has tested unfortunately that may address your question.
There was footage of an npc using this move, after flying for a while and not doing anything the npc pulled out a wirebug midair and fell, perhaps at a far enough distance the reverse blast dash will end midair or another input to trigger it sooner, so you can perform an aerial fullburst without having to waste another shell.
i imagine this would be a positioning tool for fullburst
With all these switch skills, seems like normal shelling is the best choice to abuse them.
Reverse Blast will probably synergize well with wide for even more KO and Erupting Cannon looks good for everything except stunlance.
Bullet barrage will likely do the most damage with long shelling, considering the bonus to both Wyrmstake and Wyvern fire
Erupting Cannon is most powerful on Wide, Bullet Barrage is most powerful on Long. Normal is in the middle for pretty much everything
Reverse blast dash and blast dash = become MORE Valstrax.
with this you can still have mobility by using reverse reverse blast dash(lol) without sacrificing charged shelling and aerial fullburst
Dear Capcom, we know how to turnaround.
Does errupting cannon activate with the sweep-into-stake combo and bullet barrage or is it only after firing 2 shells in a row?
It replaces wyrmstake so yes to your (1st) question.
An even faster way is upswing into eruption (repeat the input for upswing to trigger eruption cannon)
As someone who sucks at landing Wyrmsteak I can't wait for Erupting Cannon.
Also, might sound like a dumb question but can I use Reverse Blast Dash to go forward without turning around first? I always sucked at that with lance in 4U.
It moves you backwards so we have to turn around to use it properly.
@@Harv-E it's not using properly, it's designed to be an escape/evade as well
Erupting Canon incease melee damage around 30 %.
Does Reverse Blast Dash automatically make you face backwards, or do you need to align yourself beforehand?
We need to turn around first.
Looks like they're facing backwards every time it's activated in the video, so probably the latter
Yes gunlance needs fire power by adding even MORE FIRE POWER
How are you having acces to those moves? Arr they in the demo ? If so.. were ?
If you use mod tools you can use all of the Switch Skills as they are simply 'turned off'
I still need my dragon blast to return, the wyvernfire keeps getting less useful
I don't really play GL so what's the difference between Reverse and Normal Blast Dash?
A number of things:
- First, Reverse Blast Dash (I'll abbreviate as RBD) sends in the opposite direction, obviously. This has a couple pros and cons, but mainly, this means it can sorta be used as an emergency escape or situationally to approach a monster that just swung behind you (Malzeno does this, for example), but it also is not as easily used out of a combo, since you'll usually be facing the monster at that point and you can't turn around much if you're not in a neutral state.
- RBD is faster on startup than a regular Blast Dash. It's also invulnerable on startup, unlike the regular, which is entirely vulnerable. And if you use RBD without any shells loaded, it will reload one before blasting off, whereas the regular will just refuse outright in that situation.
- RBD inflicts blunt damage with the shield (with the ability to KO) when you crash into a monster. The regular Blast Dash does no damage whatsoever during flight.
- The regular Blast Dash replaces Charged Shells, but the RBD instead is a Silkbind action, so it requires a Wirebug to use and replaces Guard Edge (the weapon's only real Counter move). Since they occupy different slots in the moveset, this means you could theoretically run both Blast Dash and RBD simultaneously, if you wanted to for some reason.
I think that about sums it up.
1:02 THER1PPER!!!
holy shit Wide Gunlance hype?
I'm sad that Capcom is still allowing slaplance be a thing, but happy they're encouraging more shelling
Slaplance is glorious, get your second amendment outta here
Well, Slaplance is kind of a good chunk of the Gunlance moveset anyway. However, I don't think Erupting Cannon will cause melee to completely overshadow shelling
@@Slendysis I dunno. Still love GL because it's GL but so many elements in Rise seem to optimise it mostly for melee over gun.
RIP long shells.
@@sdgdhpmbp Long Shelling is stronger than all other playstyles, including slap, in Rise right now, and will likely remain so. Slaplance is the weakest style of play in Rise and will probably remain so. I'm not too concerned.
Someone help me out pls. Are these moves real but just not officially shown? Or are these completely fan made?
These moves have all been shown officially, but do not have dedicated showcase videos
wtf... gun lance has gone air borne
We becoming valstrax.
So reverse blastdash was.. Dash tackle.
Yoo its aerial gunlance from mhgu
FUNLance
So erupting cannon is almost straight up a better wyrmstake, the only real downside I can see is that it will reduce the damage of bullet barrage
Well, it buffs a long shell playstyle with poke-shelling. With normal shells I wouldnt use it.
@@BloodScar36 Every gunlance style use melee a lot, I think it might at least be 35 to 40 % damage from melee in general (numbers from my a**). You lose like 150/200 damage but you gain 10 to 20 damage per attacks afterwards. Wyrmstake seems a bit meh after that .
@@LeDracodon I'm not that into MH Rise GL, but BC of the full burst playstyle aren't there just a few melee attacks? Like the wide sweep, the poke before Wyrmstake and maybe the poke from the blast dash before you can do the full burst?
@@BloodScar36 for exemple, I think rakna kadaki GL does like 40 dmg a shell and around 170 swipe on a weak point. So even if the combo is only swipe, full blast it is like 280 shell and 170 swipe so it is not negligible
Where’s the range
Daaaaaamn... what if you could also reverse blast dash down onto the monster hahaha. Just for cool points.
Reverse Blast Dash uses a wirebug... Oh no
Well, what did you expect?
It’s a silkbind, why wouldn’t it use a wirebug?
bruh sunbreak will have skill help it
I don't understand what's reverse about the blast dash lmao
Despite animation being the same, it launches you backwards upon activation.
Regular blast dash launches you forward when you activate it by holding the key.
@@Harv-E so you're just reversing the input when you perform it?
Lmao I think all weapons can KO now
Rip hammer
i feel sad for lance
Lance atleast got a boost in damage and counters of insta guard and anchor rage.
@@marcusaaronliaogo9158 yeah, i hope they add like counter anchor rage something like that burst damage using 2 wirebug
Don’t be, We lance players may not have gotten any good new tools, but our old tools just got juiced and got turned up to 11. Anchor rage boost and spiral thrust counter boost stack, and Insta block has a larger window, and it allows for instant silkbind moves, Twin vine is good now and gives 2 levels of guard when active. Lance is winning right now, so good to see gunlance being treated just as well.
Lance are fine
Not sure slaplance needed a buff 😅
It didn't but at least it's useful for Fullburst and Poke Shell too. Going full Artillery and utility while having decent physical damage.
Erupting Cannon is good for all styles of play other than Wyrmstake Spam, Wyvernfire Spam, and Bullet Barrage spam. This includes Charged Shell spam
I dont like erupting canon. Personally, just buff melee and shelling accordingly. It'd be sick if it had like a dragon breath effect almost like mini clusters bombs everytime you shell
Erupting Cannon actually does significant explosive damage on Wide; it's not just a melee buff
Don't get too excited it's probably gonna get nerfed to hell in the full release
It can KO?!?
Gunlance is just a flying castle and i love it!
melee gunlance skill huh 🤔
Now everyones' favourite weapon is even more op.
So I can do a better Valstrax playthrough
So blast dash with extra steps
Pretty much
It has I-frames, ko damage and you can potentially use charge shells to make an aerial full burst
blast dash but actually do stuff beside making you zoom around
So still no wsb?🥺
