  • When you're a sub-intern in medical school or intern in residency, you suddenly have to take care of a much longer list of patients than you did as a third year medical student. Yikes! It can be stress-inducing to say the least. How do you keep track of everything??? Well, never fear--I have some great tips to keep you on the ball! Your team will be so impressed with how you stay on top of it all when it comes to patient care.

I'm Monica, an Internal Medicine attending living in Los Angeles. I'm here to provide high-yield videos for medical students and residents. My favorite topics include how to succeed on clinical rotations, clinical skills, and some good old pathophysiology! I'm also obsessed with my cats and fitness, but I think there are enough cat and fitness videos out there...

Great video! would be great to see a talk on tips for transitioning to being an upper year resident which there aren't too many vids on (and arguably may be a harder transition than becoming an intern!)-- how to manage a team, train fresh interns in July, be in charge of all 16-20 patients on the list, prioritize, teach medical students at the same time, etc. Love the content!

Thank you for this video.. Keep making such videos. I am watching them all and taking notes from you. Share more tips and tricks of patient management. :)
Also, when you started residency, how many patients were you given during your first month?

Thank you so much!! Will do - happy to talk more about patient management. ☺️ The number of patients each person carries varies from program to program. In my residency, interns could carry up to 10 patients on medicine wards.

Hi Dr. Jeong. Thank you for these awesome and helpful videos. Can you do a video about what labs skeletons/fishbone is necessary during pre-round? And what to do on the first day as an intern with all the anxiety at the rooftop, I mean what a typical first day would look like for an Intern. Thank you so much once again.
