    Would have been great to make guild housing, instead of player housing. Would have made guild community even better. Some guild NPCs, maybe the guild could hire NPCs like guards, shopkeepers and other stuff. Also trophies for defeating end-game bosses and other achievements.

    Player Housing was actually added in Mists of Panderia. The farm was a player only instance and didn't have a ton of NPCs like the garrisons. It was just a slice of peaceful life out in the country.

    1 : MC was never made in a day. the myth that we always hear is that it was made in a week, even that is wrong, they did the basic layout in a week and it had weeks/months of polishing, creating npcs, quests etc.... It was made as bonus unplanned content by some devs so it didn't have too many exclusives textures and models yes but it wasn't rushed in a day or week
    2 : Blizzard didn't plan hybrid classes to be bad. hybrid tax is a thing yes but they didn't actually plan them to be bad they just overtimated the hybrid tax, they wanted it to be as good as the other class overall but less good at a role, not bad overall. hybrid tax is a way to not make them so much better than the other classes, not make them worse.
    3 : Paladins beta spells removal have nothing to do with hybrid tax and balance, they could have overtuned paladins with 80 spells if they wanted. They just were placeholders before the seal/blessing system was in
    4 : There was a different(much bigger) version of ironforge in the beta/alpha version of the game where Old Ironforge was open and freely accessible, they just made it inaccessible it when they remade Ironforge.

    • @ivenstorm
      @ivenstorm Před 4 lety +1

      I'm going to say you haven't really looked into MC have you? Nearly every enemy model is a reused model from other parts of the game. Golemagg is Bael'Gar from BRD. Lucifron, Gehennas, Shazzrah, Sulferon Harbinger, and Major Domo Executus are all recolored Ambassador Flamelash from BRD, the only ones that were unique at the time were Core Hounds and Ragnaros. Every other mobs was either a reskin or reuse of other models.
      The raid wasn't tuned when it was released, and many bosses weren't easily killed until days/weeks after the dungeon was released. If anything, the classic experience we have now is a much easier experience just due to it being tuned completely.
      Originally there wasn't even an attunement quest. You had to enter through Blackrock Depths to get into the raid. It wasn't until 1.3 that the npc was added to bypass BRD entirely.
      Also.... I think you don't really know how big of a company Blizzard is.... It isn't hard to assume that they had 20-30 people working in their art department at the time of MC. Now, was it finished in a day? probably not. But you make it sound like the raid was in development for months. It isn't out of line of thought that they could complete the first 40 man raid design in a couple days. Especially with a company that size.

    • @Titi-pu2hl
      @Titi-pu2hl Před 4 lety +4

      @@ivenstorm it's facts from john staats's book. he did the basic layout of the raid by himself in a week.
      Then it took some time to do the mechanics, spawns, some new models and textures, items, quests, testing...

    • @strongfp
      @strongfp Před 4 lety +2

      @@ivenstorm MC was out in the first open beta ... I remember going there when I was dead and the entrance was outside of BRM. It definitely wasn't built in a day or a week, it was on the books for quite sometime, I even have an art book from Blizz that clearly shows molten core concept art.
      People tend to forget, and the video creator didn't touch on this as well, that T1 and T0 armor sets didn't have any special skins until around the Maraudan patch, MC was always accessible, I remember going there at around level 56 with my guild after we spent hours getting everyone attuned.
      The reason why not many people actually raided back then was because you needed a decently geared tank, a lot of people don't realize there was a time when monsters and bosses could basically one shot a warrior even with shield wall up, it's called a crushing blow, and they were a lot nastier back then.

    An interesting fact that wasn't listed was that tier 2 gear had a chance to drop off the bosses in molten core due to the devs not properly setting up the bosses loot tables. Before BWL came out there were guilds that MC on farm that already had 4 to 6 prices of tier 2 gear, when the max amount of tier two gear any player should've had access to was the pants off Rag and the Helm off Onyxia. The messed up loot tables led to a legendary neck dropping only once off of the boss with the earth elementals that exploded and threw every one near them away when they died. I think the player's name who got the necklace was named Noctyn. It had a on-wearing bonus of giving you a permanent lightning shield that did very little damage and had stam, str, and agi as its stats.

They had an issue where, because other players couldn't destroy your house, groups would build a wall of houses with one entrance and when another group of players entered they'd close the entrance. Because there was no teleportation or "I'm stuck" option, they were utterly trapped and had to either kill each other, till one person was left there forever, or call a gm.

While pally can tank certain dungs like ST and strat, they are not really good in other dungs like L/UBRS and BRD etc, their dps is good after all the potions, but its a lot of works. i haven't played shadam a lot but i know they can dps and heal, but not tank, similar to priest. druid is not the best class by far, but the flexibility really makes it good. Honestly, go back and look through some of those early patch notes, it's like "Druids now have talents they can spend points on" or some classes were missing their 3rd talent trees and stuff. Plus almost all of the classes got fairly major talent rework through the first year or so as they were still figuring things out.

      Blizzzard actually stopped making content because they tought there was too much to do already, they tought finishing hyjal unnecessary(and they were probably right)

    Some other things of note that were nerfed/changed in closed beta. Dwarves could be Mages, mages could also sheep more than one target, you could eat/drink in combat, rogues had better energy regen and went through considerable "balancing" due to clothies bitching about not being able to play their class and defend themselves from rogues in pvp due to our southshore/TM pvp experiences. I also do not remember Onyxia being before MC at all, I remember MC coming first. I seem to remember people complaining about not having dragons to kill. Oh yeah and I was the first person who got into caverns of time in the game. I wall glitched through the entrance. It was developed as far as the long run down, the neat astral wall imagery and even the instances. But when you tried to zone into the instances it just bumped u back so there was nothing to do in there.

Oh, you want to craft something? Get back to tour garrison and stay there. Don't forget to send out your hundred followers on missions to progress your character!
    Ideal player housing would in no way be mandarory, it would not impact your character progression, any rewards tied to it would be visusl upgrades and if you didn't want to do it... there is no need to! It isn't mandatory. Go hang out where you want.

Come to think of it, only ONE of the specs of a warrior was purely a tank spec, but I guess that's Blizzard for you. Mages were forced to play only frost (although by definition all they do was dps so all specs should be equally good), Discipline was only there for 1 priest per raid if at all, although theoretically is another healing spec, Warlocks couldn't dot the bosses due to debuff limit, hunters were only mandatory for the enrage boss (and then you actually needed only a couple of them in case the tranq shot didn't work), so... yeah, even the "hybrid multi class shouldn't do as well as main roles" isn't true or valid. I would like to see player housing in classic behind that gate in SW, and somewhere in Org, maybe some deep cave under Org (Orcs would want to protect their "civilians" from Gnomish flying machines dropping bombs) but with really basic houses where you can only really customize by putting in trophies (like every rare and raid boss drops something you can take to an alchemist to have it preserved as a trophy to put in your house) and a mailbox outside, but no vendors, no AH, etc so that the cities are still used.
    Maybe an anvil outside for repairs, and a cooking stove inside? Basically a small handful of amenities to keep people using cities but still giving us our own little place to hang out. I will say that houses in Dark Age of Camelot didn't take away from the cities because all the trainers and vendors were in the cities, though it was the only place for auctioning stuff. I think keeping AHs just where they are in classic would be perfect though.

      My old guild mates and I used to talk about this all the time and we basically came to the conclusion that vanilla WoW should've lasted at least three years before the burning crusade was released and that AQ and Naxxramas gear was too big of a leap from BWL gear. The Hyjal raid and the Emerald Dream raid would've been perfect for incremental upgrades from BWL instead of basically becoming miniature raid bosses from AQ and especially Naxx gear.

    Garrisons would have needed some slight changes.
    First, two variants isn't enough. Not just split them into Horde and Alliance, but it should also have considered the Race of the Commander/Player. This is worse for the Horde, than it is for the Alliance, though. While a dwarf or Gnome and even Draenei would be willing to live in a Stormwind-design garrison, a Bloodelf sitting in an orcish Garrison just looks misplaced.
    Just as with giving the options of having Guards of certain races, the option to change the design of the Garrison would have already been a good step.
    Secondly the primary building, especially the interior may have needed some more choices. Just a bit more customisation. Not necessarily being able to put tables on the wall, but at least the choice whether there is a table and the kind of table standing there. (I still adore the Wildstar Housing system, even though the way housing was placed within the world was strange (yet for Wildstar fitting)).
    Third, using the Garrison for the Guild, or as a kind of Hub for groups like the lately introduced Communities.
    -
    But personally, being able to adjust the Garrison to the Race of my character would already redeem the Garrison for me.

Whether they decide to do player housing or guild halls sometime in the future, I hope they don't just stop like they did with garrisons. New secondary professions could be added to really open up customizing options, and even expand current main professions. Have tailors and leatherworkers make carpets or wall hangings, blacksmiths could make armor racks to display your armor on, so many possibilities. Blizzard just needs to go the distance, not drop the ball at the 20 yard line.
