I guarantee the 4090Ti will have DP 2.0 along with some cranked up power.
DP 2.0 will be one of the major selling points because nvidia knows aint nobody buying a 4090ti as eagerly as a 4090 when a 4090 already delivers *INSANE* fps on all resolutions.

I think this is more related to the motherboard bios config than Asus VBios.
Those newer cards have default EFI frame buffer for boot, you may need to disable fastboot and enable CSM or disable it entirely depending on what's your current config.
The motherboard must read the graphic card's bios then run it in order to enable external graphic.
This sounds like a lazy bios job.

AsRock is just garbage, that is the reason, nothing to do with the videocard. Even with 3090 founders edition it boots too slow... shows the Bios too slow. That AsRock has some serious problems. My Asus ROG Strix B460-F boots faster without fastboot. To boot that slow it means there are some problems or just the mainboard is pure trash. I'm sure if the mainboard was MSI or Gigabyte it would have also worked better. To put 3090 ROG strix with that abomination of a board.... why not put it with ROG strix mainboard..... 🤣

Seeing this a lot online and one time in person with various motherboards and configurations, the easiest solution has almost always been swapping the GPU out with another one (any GPU doesn't have to be another 4090) to make the system stop and take another look at what's being put in it. It's not a purely AMD issue, it's probably just more likely with Zen4 because you're taking two "bleeding edge" products and mixing them, in effect doubling your chance of seeing a quirk.

This reminds me of the VBIOS issue with 10 series cards and monitors using DisplayPort 1.2 which required an update from Nvidia. It had the same behavior with no output from the BIOS but worked in Windows. Out of curiosity, do you get different behavior if you change the DP mode on the monitor or use different DP ports on the STRIX? Could it be defaulting to a different port even though it’s not active? Or maybe the board just doesn’t recognize it as a video device and is enabling output on the onboard video port instead, even when not connected.

Well one trick you can try is taping up the PCI-E pins B5 and B6, for some strange interactions such as memory related weirdness can be resolved on some PCI-E devices by obscuring these pins.
This is especially true for server hardware like HBAs, RAID Controllers and the like where the SMBus is used for other types of communication, for an example there are instances of a whole bank of memory disappearing due to this SMBus, and once you taped them (Deny electrical conductivity) or removed the card, the missing memory channel came back.

ASRock mobos are notorious for booting without showing the UEFI splash screen at boot. They have an app, Boot to UEFI, for this reason that will boot you straight to the UEFI. Also make sure CSM is disabled because some new GPUs will not give a screen with it enabled at all. Usually restarting a few times on an ASRock board will make it show the splash screen so you can enter UEFI. They also have an option in the UEFI to hold power for x number of seconds to boot straight in to UEFI.

Seems to me like GPU is not able to talk to motherboard's UEFI properly which in turn leads to motherboard to think there is new HW every time which triggers it's HW discovery routines including doing memory training again (something is wrong here, don't know what so let's check everything). I wonder how it would behave if the system was switched to legacy boot mode (if possible).
Also saw similar behavior in server space some time ago; when there was a lot of system memory and GPU memory result was some of the devices were not working within OS due to motherboard resources not being distributed/assigned properly. Updating system ROM usually fixed that or temporarily disabling or re-seating some of the devices could be used as a workaround.

I can get BIOS signals just fine, it's when Windows starts that I lose video signal. It doesn't happen EVERY time, but it happens a lot. It happens when I restart or shut down, and usually I have to cold start the system (disconnect PSU power) to get it come back. Watching the issues you're having makes me think I'm not totally crazy.
For what it's worth, I did a clean Windows 11 install and what I saw was I had zero issues... until I installed the driver. I'm hoping the ASUS sees your video and takes a look, because it really smells like something is off at the VBIOS or drivers here. Happy to collaborate or corroborate any testing or findings you want (and can share system specs if you'd like, but I'm in a 12900K platform).

Gigabyte (AORUS_ENGINE) & Sapphire (TRIXX) also have similar v-bios update features for their own specific brand of video cards. I really think that along with the msrp gouging, Nvidia burned a lot of goodwill with the high-end enthusiast market after the 3090 ti launch this year. Pumping that up and trying to push that on buyers for 2 grand only to have this blow it out of the water at a similarly inflated, but still significantly lower msrp barely 6 months later. Pandering to the crypto market really ends up feasting on their own tail given how hard it'll be to go anywhere but down from those highs.
Along with some of the head-scratching compromises this card has, you can really feel how much Nvidia is just clambering for every scrap of margin they can get rather than try to put out decent value products (and even high-end gear like the 80 tis of yesteryear used to actually be somewhat decent value even if they weren't "value products").
End of the day enthusiasts are gonna enthusiast and there's only so much game in town. But AMD has a good opportunity here to get some serious points from how disillusioned people are becoming with the enthusiast gaming market.

But i aint dropping 1000 USD on a damn GFX card, not even if someone made a damn game worth playing, but all games are boring stuff i cant even be bothered to play a demo off cuz 2 minutes of demo footage video give it all up.
I am not even going to update my other hardware, the 12 core threadripper will do just fine for what i do, and TBH most times i am on my laptop connected to this 32" screen as it is after all using a fraction of the power the threadripper use, and Denmark are just about the most expensive place in the world to buy a KWH
So yeah might get a "OLD" GFX card or a new one and run it on the slower PCI-e slot this motherboard have. but still get good enough performance if someone made a bloody game worth playing.

I had the same problem a while ago with an older graphics card. A Strix gtx 970 wouldn't show any image when plugged in to any system until you installed the drivers. After the drivers were installed it worked perfectly fine.

My MSI RTX Gaming Trio is getting black screen in the middle of installing the driver, I have ROG maximus hero z690, Gskill 128GB ram, i9 1200 unlocked, ang 1200w thor PSU, all bios updated, switched win 10 and 11, did DDU, wasted 2 weeks figuring out, always in the middle of driver installation, black screen 😭😭😭

The issue can be fixed in your bios. its the pcie 5 standard thats causing issues. I would switch the pcie port to 4.0 in the bios.

So you did not test on an Asus ROG X670E like you said you wanted to do in the last video? Would have been great to know as some will combo and go all ROG.

I actually don't think it's the price putting people off this, at least not in the way you might think. I think it's more that people are determined to get their money's worth out of the 3070 or 6600XT or whatever they paid way too much for last year. The LAST thing they want is to stay on the upgrade treadmill, they're gonna enjoy what they have hell or high water.

Nope it’s just that it was a paper launch and none are in stock. Only three 4090 founders on eBay in the UK, all at around £3000. Tells me they literally sold a hand full and ran out of stock.

@@starcitizen890j5 In the EU, sure. The two Microcenters had over 100+. The one I went to to pick up my 4090 Strix sold out Day 1. The other location sold out around the 3rd day.

@@SSoul0 And judging by the number of listings on ebay, it would seem that many that bought cards are scalpers, cause they sure as shit aren't retailers.

I just know enough about computers to put them together, but sometimes I noticed that with certain graphics cards the frequency and ICQ setting could be off. Another thing is it could be a windows 11 problem, because windows hates unsigned drivers, plus if anything like Windows 10 during updates it would delete any driver that was not signed and boot with a standard one.

Someone from Asrock posted a comment on your last video on what a possible issue is and how to get past it in bios settings. Wondering if you happened to see it. Also other people are saying this issue was fixed in the newest update released 2 days ago. Oct 13th
