  • Now that you've watched the many parts in the Black and White Series, I thought it time to put up the first (I hope to make many more) tutorial where you put what you've learned to use and make this statement piece. It's one of my very favorites.
    If it's not too much trouble, please subscribe and like. There is much more to come!
    Cheers, Donna

    I have really enjoyed this one. My primary passion is for jewelry making but I’m trying this medium again. I still have problems with making canes that don’t get distorted but I have made some really nice pieces from my goofy messes. I appreciate you showing some fixes and will try them. Your workmanship is truly amazing and I’m so envious. You said you have been working with this for many years and it shows. I’m a newcomer and will continue trying. I need all the help I can get. Thank you for sharing your gift. I’ve learned some from watching you. Thanks again.

    I have loved all the tutorials on this series. I have a suggestion for something I do that might make the buttons on the backs of each pendant easier. I put a 2 inch piece of buna cord coated with resist gel in the channel that gets impressed between the two layers. I bake it that way and no drilling is necessary. Then I slide the cord out after they are cooled. I have also used thick wire or hemp cord. Use a pliers if it sticks.

      I also appreciate Donna sharing her thought processes. When you know why, you can make better decisions. Katoclay has different characteristics from other polymer clays, and any tips, tricks, etc. go a long way in helping to master this medium.

Since I lost my husband April of this year I feel sort of lost ( not looking for sympathy-just explaining) I have not been sleeping very good, and I just somehow came to your channel. I love love love your videos. I would like to See you doing the small backing -or at least mesurments for the small version.Also what is that sanding paper called. You Are my therapy -sure I still cannot sleep, but you make my time enjoyable. I will not be able to attempt makeing a full necklace like yours, but I will be makeing a smaller version-like maybe 3 disks as a center to my necklace with beads. Keep those videos coming PLEASE.

    Hi Donna, i have a question about The small pads for The necklace backs. If both pads are setting #3 with The imprint for The cord ON just one of them, what is The diameter of The cord that goes thru The pads? Im thinking The gap is too small for a 2 mm cord. Am i right Or do i have some of The info wrong? Thanks so much, Jill x

    Because I am a clumsy oaf and dropped my IKEA bowl with raw polymer on it, I found an old plate with a nice rim to place it on.
    Those IKEA bowls are AWESOME but can be slippery suckers, even the small ones.

    Fabulous!!! What size O Rings and from where do you order them? Also, you mentioned that Kato Polypaste does not cure to be Clear - what color does it look like when cured? I just read Kato Polypaste can be used to bond non-porous surfaces to polymer clay - so it can be used instead of glue to add crystals to designs and you don't have to pick them out and "glue" them back in place after curing? Does the polypaste have to overlap the crystals at all or is it like using "crazy" type glue, so just between the crystals and the clay?

    • @DonnaKatoArt
      @DonnaKatoArt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Deb, the Polypaste cures translucent white. That’s why I use the liquid to set crystals. Not sure about bonding non- porous surfaces, though. I should give that a try! Cheers!😊❤️🎁🎄🧑‍🎄🎉

Would appreciate your guidance ? Thx.

    • @DonnaKatoArt
      @DonnaKatoArt  Před rokem

      Hi Lisa;
      Sorry for the looong delay…I purchased these through pandahall or aliexpress. The challenge is knowing the fineness of the needles - I bought a bunch in different sizes because I wanted thick ones and in the process ended up with several sizes that are used for different things. I like the thick, sturdy ones for cutting my acrylic shapes from Cara Jane’s templates. I use the very thin ones for poking tiny air holes. I wish I had a better answer for you! Hugs, D

    • @DonnaKatoArt
      @DonnaKatoArt  Před rokem

      Remember the part about the way they’re strung so that the hole through which the discs are strung is closer to your head? Did you do that, I have on occasion strung them backward (!) and then they turn. Do you arrange them flat before you put the piece on? I love this piece but it does take a bit of arranging before you put it on! Cheers, D

    • @DonnaKatoArt
      @DonnaKatoArt  Před rokem +1

      Ok, the black one with the holes? Now that’s easy. Make the dished part first - cut the disc, cut the smaller holes bearing in mind you must have room for the stringing piece. Cure the disc with holes. After curing, back the piece with raw clay, cut out the holes and press the stringing piece as you did before (blending the edges). Cure it and you are done! ❤️
