@THEMAN080 you're right. That prop is a cruise prop so that will change with the rebuild. This area is at about 3000' ASL and DA was about 4500' that day so don't compare it it to low elevation ops.
@n714xj thanks for the kind comment. I'm actually in the same boat as you. I'm in the final stages of a complete airframe up restoration of this plane. The only thing necessary to finish our projects is the will to do so! Let's get 'em done and go fly together soon!
Thanks y'all. The rebuild I'm doing on this plane is about half complete. I've recovered the new fuselage after powdercoating it. Just hung a new firewall and the new engine will be built and go on soon. Keep watching...
Ah yes the mighty M4-220. I had one just like it. Mine didn't have the gear modification like this one but I had to deal with the Sheriffs department a few time for letting it all hang out in my Rocket. The most fun days of my life were in that seat.
Great video!! Wow, that plane looks "James Dean" cool with those tires. George Thorogood's "Bad to the Bone" would be a fitting theme song for this airplane. Especially when you throttle up!!!
Thanks, Guys. yep, the gear is a heavy duty replacement for the factory main gear. Expensive, but much better than original! IMO... it needed a little more cowbell. ;)
Sweet! I've been flying my little MX7180a every day for the past month with the "top down", i.e. the pilot's door off. If you haven't tried it, you should. FAA legal to fly the MX7 with any 1 door off. May be same for M4. Wish I had some where to go play here in NC but there's not a lot of off airport options - left that behind with sailplane racing. But low and slow and fooling around is still the best! Nicely done all around.
@WimAlberts I add music to the videos because... 1) I like it and its my video. 2) It gets ugly and disturbing viewers to skip such clips. 3) it's standard practice in the 21st century since all professional editors blend music with video. 4) I like the feedback the non-whiners give me about my videos. and 5) Vomiting out raw video clips is the work of lazy amateurs. I do understand your point, though... hitting that mute button is such an insurmountable burden.
@proscllc I used to pride myself on beating Cessna's specs on stock 152's / 172's and KNOW what it takes to fly it to the numbers under difficult conditions, but that ain't nuthin' like this!
@matsubear... cool. I've landed for even more mundane reasons. Like... in a plowed field to cut off a group of wild hogs just to get an up close view.... or... an open spot for my wife to "deal with" the coffee she drank when the nearest facility was an hour+ away... Then there are times when the icing clouds go all the way to the ground, so we just "pull over" in a field and wait it out. No problem and no need to force anything searching for a landing spot.
@misterviv1959 haha. Thanks for the kind words. As you know, there are no FREEbirds when in it comes to aviation... they are very expensive toys! However, I can offer many spare riverbeds! Bring yours when you get it and we'll go have a blast.
Oh, that's right you are rebuilding. I'm thinking the same after I complete my RV10 this month (man, that's amazing to say). I don't have hangar room for both but I have plenty of shop space.... how did the rebuild go? If it can be seen somewhere, I'm very interested.
Hey dude how I Just stumbled across this video for the first time in a while. I forgot how bad ass it is. I am going to be passing though in either my Carbon Cub or my Maule a few times this winter and was wondering if your plane is ready to go yet. It would be fun to get out and do some flying. Was the last time you flew it when I followed you back home? BTW I lost your # so PM or email it to me if you get a chance.
@hubbardr1 you can't pack out two hunters, gear, and a dead moose in a 701... besides they look stupid and a nosewheel is hard to justify in sketchy terrain. It's just not a REAL airplane. It's like a blown up RC. Perhaps the 801... but they still look stupid... and ramp appeal counts for a lot.
hold one for me for about oh 3 years then I'll have my pilots license. I'll come down to texas and pick it up! : ) just curious, whatcha got? I love maules.
Wish I saw this price when you posted it. I'll have a Bit more than that in my 1971 M-4 rebuild, minus the Franklin 6A-350 c1 :-( PS, Great video ... ^v^
+proscllc What mods you have in the plane. Like entended landing gear, etc. Is it an experimental maule or still type certificate? Thanks, and congrats for the beautiful plane.
Come on out west and we'll play around together. Thanks for the compliments. Rebuild is ongoing and temporarily on hold... check out some photos at offairportaviators dat org. Go to photos and click Maule Rebuild
very very nice, I would love to be such an amateur pilot, but I did not, unfortunately, be my brother, God bless you, always firmly on the ground get off, I am from Turkey, Let's be friends on facebook if any, respect, greetings from Turkey, Mustafa Besler.
@ricglos Thanks.... slips with flaps is allowed in the Maule.

Loved the video. Pease river is next to the red river near Vernon Texas and Davidson okla. I fly that stretch occasionally in my Luscombe.

Awesome bud and love that maule!
Une sacrée leçon de pilotage et une machine qui fait rêver ! Congratulations from France !
nice. looks like you had fun. thnks 4 sharing

Very cool video. Spongiest tyres ever!

Thanks! You're right... worth every minute to learn the right way. I'm rebuilding the plane now. It will be a real performer in anoither few months!
love the music and the maule
you have great taste in aircraft. a gorgeous plane
Dang that looks fun! Love that country.
COW!!!!! Sorry...couldn't help myself...great plane and video!

Thank's for the info & sharing the video
Totally in love with this airplane. If I lived near you, I'd probably be your best bud. lol
Thanks... glad you liked it. It'll be flying again soon after a total restoration. Stay tuned.
Music goes well with the video!!!
@patcism thanks! Means something coming from you given your background. Glad ya liked it.
@tsbrownie THANKS. Great compliment.
Thank you!!
if one wants to learn to fly, this video provides adequate inspiration...;-)
@jamlip Thanks... (you do that with brake action)
bad ass, the gear looks like it can sure take a side load.
@steve1428 never... at least ... YET. Balancing braking with power keep the tail where it needs to be.
Dang, that looks like fun.
@bhenny29 thanks. I'll keep it in mind!
Nice flyin' pardner!
Thanks guys!
@outraged70 yep... and the tunes from the iPod enhance the activity immeasurably!
Yep...MSL, not AGL. Thanks for catching that.
Fuse and fabric is all done. Building the new engine now. Hope to hang that next week.
Very nice!

LMAO ! Well 'played', Sir ... ^v^
Thank you for the kind words!
@prosclic Love your Video!! My old man is flying one back to the UK soon. Should be interesting.
kick ass song! kick ass flying!
@grissomairport ... glad ya noticed that... most don't. That's all in the busy, happy feet.
@proscllc I used to pride myself on beating Cessna's specs on stock 152's / 172's and KNOW what it takes to fly it to the numbers under difficult conditions, but that ain't nuthin' like this!
Thanks. You're right, it is an awesome machine. The reason I'm selling is I own four planes (counting an ultralight) so....
@steve1428 Very often, so often in fact, they carry 10+ extra props in the back...
@matsubear... cool. I've landed for even more mundane reasons. Nice little rocket.
Ferocious control.
Airplane: Awesome...Flying: Even MORE Awesome......Music: I vote for Stevie Ray Vaughan next time. Very good though!
@MOJONIXION ...thanks
STOL stands for Short Take Off's/Landings right?
What kind of fuel, do you use for Maule 7, Avgas or Mogas (what octane)..?
Avgas 100LL
@misterviv1959 haha. Thanks for the kind words. As you know, there are no FREEbirds when in it comes to aviation... they are very expensive toys! However, I can offer many spare riverbeds! Bring yours when you get it and we'll go have a blast.
Aeroplan&boots is very comfortabl in river.
At 3200' AGL...TO in 300' Land in 250'. Useful load is 900 lbs.
Oh, that's right you are rebuilding. I'm thinking the same after I complete my RV10 this month (man, that's amazing to say). I don't have hangar room for both but I have plenty of shop space.... how did the rebuild go? If it can be seen somewhere, I'm very interested.
@hubbardr1 OK... now we're in total agreement. Well put!
@jamlip Roger that... until then... I'll be here...
That looks like a lot of fun. What's the elevation there?

well said
You're welcome !
@proscllc wait... you put yourself and fellow hunter, gear, and a dead moose in maule and got it off the ground? Just its head or somethin?
@SittingMooseShaman... I gotta say... "RUGGED" (one of my favorite words!) is in short supply in our society anymore. Thanks for the kind words.
Have a look at super stols
I ran across this plane up for sale did you buy it or are you saling it?
yikes! learning? looks like either running into different surface or hitting the brakes to much. looked scary. Good job though!
who needs a 120ft wide runway when you could have all this terrain to yourself?
BRAVISIMO!!!
Sweet
@proscllc lol... got me there. no doubt. But man as long as they are empty, no nearby radio interference, and you're blind, there's no better STOL. :)
Nice big wheels but the takeoff run is still pretty long...
@ejlister I need all the best buds I can get!
Is that legal to land in a nonairport area like that?
Sorry but if you want to see STOL, search for "STOL Flying CH701"
hold one for me for about oh 3 years then I'll have my pilots license. I'll come down to texas and pick it up! : )
just curious, whatcha got? I love maules.
$49,500 delivered.

@peckcrai Three doors down - not enough
Dreamin'
@AustinAviatorLevin - heh.
What type of Maule is this?
Well North a few hours
The Red
Я в шоке! Народ зачем нужен геликоптер Robinson, Heavy 4x4 SUV, baggy? Когда есть такие легкие и простые low coster airplane!!!
does it has the standard M4 wings?
Estevan Roth Yes
+proscllc What mods you have in the plane. Like entended landing gear, etc. Is it an experimental maule or still type certificate? Thanks, and congrats for the beautiful plane.
+Estevan Roth everything you see in this video is certified and no mods other than the bushwheels... but many specialized flight training hours. ;)
Wow. My desire for a project M4 just went up by 1k times. Congrats on the flying skills.
+Estevan Roth Thanks! How serious are you about an M4 project?
hey nice maule is it a maule m4

Too bad about the annoying music, otherwise, nice video...
