  • Here is an easy DIY Salt Dough Recipe!! Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to see more of my videos - in my next video I will be making a BULL CHARM using Salt Dough!
Salt Dough is a type of dough that can be molded into any shape that you want and the shape will harden when you bake it. The advantage of salt dough is that it is very cheap and easy to make!
All you need for this recipe is:
    - 1/2 cup plain flour
    - 1/4 cup salt
    - 1/4 cup water
Mix the ingredients together and bake for 3.5 hours at 120°C/250°F (100°C if fan-assisted)

Hey guys!! I've got a tip for you, you can keep the dough out for like 3days and it will become rock solid (It's air-dry, but it takes longer then normal air-dry clay)

When I was a teacher about 10 years ago I used this method for one of my classes, I made the clay, traced all my students hands and cut out around the hand shapes, let them dry, then painted a santa clause face on them and gave as a Christmas gift to the parents. I ran into one of my students about a week ago and she said she still has the ornament and they hang it every year awww 🥺 but I’m leaving this comment to say, if done right, and handled with care, you have a lifetime keepsake.

When I was in about 3-4th grade I made a "turkey" shape, painted it and the teacher glazed it. I don't know what type of clay it was ( I was too young too notice), but I kept that thing for years, my grandmother would put it out during Thanksgiving. It's head eventually fell off.

Thanks for sharing your clay making video, but I noticed that your heart clay piece got cracks in it, I have figured out a way to fix this problem, even after they have been baked, I wet them lightly, then I add some flour or more of my clay mixture to it, I then rub it in over the cracks slowly until it is filled in, then I air dry it, then I lightly sand them to a nice smoothness, this has worked for me every time, I hope that this is helpful.

      • Gacha_MerGirl2000 • yes I did it before, it can break easily, if you want solid dry, and hard to break I’ll highly recommend to bake.

If I were to make a large batch, would it begin to mold or smell after a long time?

Yes it would go bad. If you have a little left over you can leave it in the fridge for a short while but not for too long.
