I’ve been saying this for ages , move australia back to being the opening race of the season , we need a race to bring life to the start of the season and belief in having a proper fight for the championship. Same with gravel traps and grass , it needs to be mandatory to the off track surface on the majority of tracks

Yeah right now there are going to be 19 drivers for the GP because some teams don’t even have a spare chassis. Even if Andretti is 3 seconds off pace, it would still be better then starting with 19 drivers.

I think it's less Williams taking a gamble on not taking a spare chassis, and more Williams not having a spare chassis at all. They said it was very close getting 2 cars ready for Bahrain so I suspect they didnt have a spare ready to ship out to Australia.
Thats actually right. Vowles explained this as a consequence from them being behind in development and simply not having the time to create sufficient spare parts.

I totally get why they go with Albon but I can't think of many more unfair things that could happen to Sargent. He was incredibly graceful in his response though.

but they have been converted. Verstappen converts most of Leclerc's poles to wins.
and what do you want leclerc to do? he slows down in qualifying to be 2nd or even 3rd, the car is not at the level of the RB🤷♀️

Was at the track today. There was an average of one red flag per session across all the open wheeler sessions. F2 and F3 had multiple red flags (and one attempted murder). I would almost bet my house on a red flag on Sunday

@@mastertramsIn the fast left right section where alonso went off someone was warming up their tyres on the racing line . another car came up behind him and as the driver in front pulled over to the right to let him through the guy piledrived into his side pod and ploughed him into the wall
"attempted murder" is a bit of an over reaction. I looked up the clip and is it wildly aggressive, yes. Should he have a harsher penalty than 3 grid places, yes. But to say attempted murder or a piledrive into the side of another car is sensationalizing it a bit. He bumped him side car to side car. It is not like he plowed into him in a braking zone t-boning him or pushed him all along the way into the wall like I used to do in NASCAR 2006 on my Nintendo GameCube.
Logan Sargent should win Driver of the day for giving up his car for williams if albon scores in the race

I wouldn't give Alex Logan's car. I love Alex, he's absolutely better than most drivers, but at the end it was his mistake, and more importantly it sets the precedent that the lower-ranking driver isn't just there for spare parts.

Matt reminds me of someone’s little brother who hangs around the older kids because he’s a bit more mature. But it’s also amusing to see him lose at things, so you always root against him, hoping he’ll cry about it just so you can build him back up again. It’s a mix of love and enjoying his struggles! If Charles crashes out (uninjured) or the car breaks. It’ll make my weekend. 😂😂😂😂
There's kerb that Alex went over just before the place where he crashed that caused him to lose control of the car because it lifts the wheels of the track. Max did the same thing in that kerb it lifted his car of the track causing them to lose traction. Someone else had a similar incident over that kerb. How are people not noticing this?

Practice to Max is that thing that gets in the way of playing iRacing; he's not always on top in practice. Just wait until Sunday AUS time when he scoots off into the distance with a 5s lead after 2 laps.
As last year. In Albert Park even free practice is so good. Love this track!
I planned to get up in the middle of the night for this, ended up not being able to fall asleep anyways, but this made it worth it
Everytime we get action packed fridays we seem to get an action packed race from my feeling. Like last year in australia we had a madness on friday and got an exciting race to complement.

I love Albert Park. I think it's the flow. It has such beautiful flow to drive and the coverage actually conveys that. It also usually ends up being hectic but still, I've always had a weird thing for this track as an American.
There is something about this track that invites the driver to overdrive it. Its very unique.
I think brushing off the Williams situation is a clear case a favouritism. If Norris had crash and McLaren had given him Piastri's car people would be outraged. However, because it Logan it's not an issue.

Every runoff should have a 2-3 foot wide grass strip behind each curb before the runoffs. Will help with drainage and keep drivers more inclined to stay on track.

I remember seeing a quote from Romain Grosjean a couple seasons back one if the times there was big controversy over track limits. He basically said F1 needs to do like IndyCar does and have gravel runoffs. It'll penalize the driver, without totally destroying the car

It's so weird, the Mercedes did look solid in testing, like they did have a good base, but man they're awful.
@@joshn1678 if you see, most issues come out when pushing the envelope. If Merc fixed its aero it would be in front with others. But they are stubborn and don't want to copy the RB sidepods layout and are getting spanked.

Albert Park - My worry is rather than seeing how good a traditional track can be and making suitable changes to other tracks, teams and drivers will moan to the FIA so much about 'damage' and 'danger' that this track will either be horribly neutered or removed entirely.
Hamilton - Traditionally Ferrari is a retirement home for ageing champions. Maybe he's already broken out the slippers?
Sargant - No happy answer to this one, but if your team has only one car you have to put your obviously faster driver in it.
There is also to say that this time Russell is the main driver so Lewis will not have the best support. Plus they are scrambling to find the right setup using both cars in different setup directions.

@@nollienick1121 it's actually even worse.. they only have 2 chassis ready since they were behind with development and production. So this chassis will have to be repaired in order to have 2 cars (not 3, 2!) for Suzuka... 😵💫

In the old days drivers swapped cars all the time. In 1956 Peter Collins gave his car to Fangio possibly costing him the Championship giving it to JMF. Those here complaining it is unfair do not know the sport.
As someone who has stood not too far from where Martin was it isn't just the speed that makes you go oh my goodness. You can actually feel the cars at that corner. You can feel them reaching out.

Regarding Hamilton: fp1 Russell and ham had similar setup. Fp2 (shovlin and Toto confirmed) they used Lewis to test an extreme setup which didn’t work. In fp1 they were neck and neck so it’s not like Lewis has lost anything.
Imagine if they give that car to Albon, and he crashes the second one too. That will be quite a situation!
