I was fortunate enough to spend time with Justin, John, Graeme, and Ray backstage many years ago, and I can attest that Justin is one of the most humble, gracious, and polite rock stars you'll ever meet. He is as real as it gets, and I truly believe that whatever he says, he says it "with love."
Roger McGuinn of the Byrds belong here and so is Chris Hillman. Famous musicians who are true to their music. For recent Artists, Dave Grohl. Too honest he tributed the beegees as DeeGees and they did justice for those great legens gibb bros
Denisemarie: you took the words right out of my mouth....he is amazing - and all The Moody Blues as well - each and every one going back to the original 5 (Justin Hayward, Gramme Edge, Ray Thomas, John Lodge, and Mike Pinder. Wow....no wonder they are in the hearts of so many of us....in a league of their own....🥰🥰🌺🏵💐💐
My friend & I saw Justin on Monday night in Delaware. Oh, my. THIS is the Justin we've been waiting for for such a long time. He was funny, engaging, friendly and his voice was absolutely top notch. I'm not ashamed to say that he had me in tears during a couple of songs. This entire show was magnificient. We overheard so many people say after the show that his voice was just amazing. Well done, Jus, well done!
My wife, sister, her husband and I was fortunate to be in the 'Gold Circle' August 30, 2018 for Justin Hayward's solo show in Madison, WI. It was a pure joy to enjoy this incredible artist and accompanying musicians for 90 minutes of Moody Blues classics within an intimate setting. Just loved the show. Go see Justin Hayward if you get the chance!
The Moodies were the soundtrack to my life when I was back in high school and college (late 1960's, early '70's). I had so many favorite groups but the Moodies, and Justin in particular were different than the rest; they have always had a gentle and highly expressive soul. I was at the show in Delaware this past Monday evening and must say that the experience was sublime.
What an absolutely cool guy. I just saw him last night in Sellersville, Pa. He is awesome! I'd seen the Moodys a couple times but this was my first time seeing him solo. After 40+ years of listening to him sing and play, last night was a truly magical experience!
"GREAT INTERVIEW, 'LOVED' IT, "THANKYOU", "IT'S 'GREAT ' TO HEAR, & CAN'T WAIT, TO 'SEE' IT, LIVE'-"SPIRIT'S" HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF 'MY FAVORITE 'S OF ALL, 'LOOKING SO FORWARD TO 'SEEING IT, I 'NEVER'- WANT TO STOP 'SEEING ' THEM!!!👍👍👍😇😘🥰😍❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹💯
Justin, you have been such an inspiration to so many people, including myself. I would like to take the time to say thank you for the 48 years that I have been a fan and I continue to follow your work because like everyone, it touches our hearts. I look forward to purchasing the DVD from the store because I can't see you in person. All I can really say is I thank you so much for your gift to us all.
Here is a man who truly loves his work. The concerts have been fantastic and Justin's song choices, superb. Thanks for uploading and sharing! Special thanks to Justin, Mike, Alan, and Julie.
Nice update from a superb guitarist and vocalist. You can see how much he loves his guitars. So glad to hear that there will be a dvd and in the future, a west coast solo tour too.
Justin, I am following you for all my life. (just a little bit younger than you are) You are a very special person.... So, whish you good luck with this very personal tour in the US. And hope to meet you - again - at the MSC Divina next spring.
Nice and interesting the backstage talk. Lots of great info. Sure look forward to the upcoming DVD and the tour later on, wow! Can't wait,.....(thanks for a beautiful cd).
I have recently picked up a copy of the CD "Spirits" and love the songs. Also caught the Moody's show in Grand Prairie, Texas in March and had 4th row seats. I have been a fan since 1968 and I loved the show and all the great memories. Keep on singing !
I wanted in particular to hear Justin on his own playing acoustically with friends (and his favorite guitars...I'm certain those are his friends as well); hearing the voice unencumbered by electronics. The new songs have found a place in my heart just as have those of the Moodies. Thank you Justin, et. al.
I was privileges to see the Moodies more times than i can count. After Graeme & Ray having passed away. Justin opens up a lot more and he seems so humble and a really nice gentleman. Thank you Justin and the Moodies for all your great music. Justin keep the music coming. We love you.
As a guitar player you're one of my heros Mr. Hayward!! Actually got to be photographed with you and the Moodys in St. Petersburg, FL last St. Patrick's Day. If you ever read these posts yourself would you ever consider revealing the tuning for In Your Blue Eyes (high E string tuned to D?). I've actually got my version of it here on CZcams (with some mistakes and I can't sing as well as you!). Thank you for all your contributions; words can't describe the impact you've had in this world.
LOTS of LOVE to YOU. It's been 6 long yrs since I last saw you (8/9/2007) my 40th & TRULY my HAPPIEST ever. Certainly my most lavish to see you I watch your tour schedule, but I haven't been able to make it happen financially, w/ the travel. You're good for my soul & your music is the best medicine. I need to hear your voice & deeply want to share the experience of your music live my daughters. It would be my ultimate bonding experience wish. I WILL stay hopeful it will happen. MUCH LOVE!
So much great info in this one! Thanks for bringing your solo tour to the US Justin! I'll see you in Atlanta on the 17th & hope you'll bring the solo show to the Ryman in Nashville soon. We love you here in Nashville! Take care & enjoy the tour. And it's great to find out a new DVD is on the way! Yay!!!!
I've seen two so far, with two more (and hopefully the secret NYC gig) to go, and very much like seeing the new songs as well as acoustic takes on Moodies songs. The Moodyfest band did a number of these songs acoustically ten and more years ago - The Land of Make Believe was a wonderful surprise. I'm thinking this interview portends a future of Justin Hayward solo tours, alternating with and perhaps succeeding the Moodies concert years, when those end. I'm very glad to hear this.
WOW, it is great to see you Justin Hayward and to listen in on your musical career. You have wonderfully impacted my life with all of your historical Moody Blues Music. The word is OM .....Tuesday Afternoon...Nights in White Satin .....Question .....and so much more ......With LOVE and Following you. I am sharing your video to our wellness community timeline of the Good Earth Chef Barry Anderson Blessing to you and your team Justin...
So sorry I had to miss your show here in Ct.. I’m a nurse and I was on call with no way to switch. I hope to catch you next time around. I did see you when you came to the Ridgefield Playhouse. Be state, stay well. Luv~
It's wonderful to hear this chantyman talk about taking his guitars on the road as if they were friends from home (which they are!). Now I think I'll look up Driftwood's chords and pick them out on my DVM. FWE, Diane
I saw the Justin show last night 8/7 at the Somerville Theater, near Boston- I believe this interview is from this show backstage. I must say I see many classic rock concerts, but this was the best I've seen. Justin and The Moody Blues are classical musicians-equal to Bach and Beethoven in my opinion. I am a guitarist/singer, and I managed to give one of his road crew 2 CDs I recorded- one my covers of 5 of Justin's songs; the other, my original songs inspired by the Moodies sound.
Justin, I love your Acoustic version of "I Dreamed Last Night". I hope you will consider playing it when you come to the west coast. Thank you for all your music!
Thanks for opening up and being real for us. I wish we spoke more back during your "Octave" tour in Philadelphia. Well, you can't change the past. Sorry. AG
i wish the "Spirits" tour would have crossed the states to the Midwest. Nice to know i may enjoy a quality recording on upcomming DVD. i So Love hearing speak about his Guitars. But have to think being his Guitar Tech for his Tour would be a "Fretful" Job. "Lots of Love" to all Moody people. xoxoxodiane
Trizkai, not to worry, he says he will only 'retire' if nobody buys a ticket to his shows. And that's not gonna happen, he has so many loyal fans! Get to a show, you'll be glad you did.
Justin speaks of his Tom Anderson & how Mike fell in love with it. Saw an interview with Mike talking about his gear and this guitar. Turns out Justin bought him one just like his and gave to Mike! Mike seems to be as humble as Justin, I'm sure it was a mutual admiration moment! What a sweet man! 🤗
I like how he says this guitar "does" this song, or another one "wrote" another song. It's like the guitars are alive to him, and are the ones making the music.
I thought it was a different Carol Kaye. But it is THE Carol Kaye. You know what Ray. I bet you and I are the only people to post here who know who Carol Kaye is.
PS~I was supposed to go backstage in 93 or 94...WHEN THE MOODYS WERE PLAYING AT CHASTAIN PARK...It was intermission but a drizzly and wet night, so...your stage hand, a guy named DAVID, TOOK TOO LONG TO BRING ME A PASS...SO...I LEFT...REGRETFULLY! Maybe I will get the chance IF you play in the Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral or Jacksonville, Fla area...preferrably... South of Jacksonville, Fla!👍❣🎸🎶
How can Justin say then that it was the best incarnation of the moody blues? It seems he has airbrushed Mike pinder and Ray thomas out of moodie history, without that original lineup he wouldn't be where he is now, very disappointing Justin! To a lot of us those 80s moody albums pale into insignificance compared to core 7 albums, sorry, but I believe original lineup cannot be touched!!!
i shall be coming to see you tonight...I have spoken with you and hope to meet you...I have something to give you if my brother allows it....blessings, carolan nathan/brown
I've only just seen this video - "humble, gracious, and polite" - that's exactly how he comes across here :)
Justin is precious and brings sunshine to even the cloudiest day.
Such a dear heart.
I wish other musicians who have become famous were as honest and have such integrity as you do..
Roger McGuinn of the Byrds belong here and so is Chris Hillman. Famous musicians who are true to their music.
For recent Artists, Dave Grohl. Too honest he tributed the beegees as DeeGees and they did justice for those great legens gibb bros
Thank you, Justin for all of your beautiful music!!
Oh Justin, you’re simply amazing! Thank you so much for 40+ years of listening to you and The Moody’s and opening my mind and eyes!

Still brilliant.
I feel the same way. They have provided peace of mind throughout my teen years and in my several subsequent decades of highs and lows.
Thanks for all those beautiful music, Justin...

saw this concert last night in a small venue in Atlanta, best concert ever, Justin sounds better than ever.
Here is a man who truly loves his work. The concerts have been fantastic and Justin's song choices, superb.
Thanks for uploading and sharing! Special thanks to Justin, Mike, Alan, and Julie.
I adore you Justin...you're adorable! Hope to see you soon!
beautiful album Justin...I can't believe you played all of those guitars...you nailed the "country sound" so cool...
We’ve come to know you more intimately as you play for smaller groups. You are an even more brilliant, humbled man than we knew. Thank you
Nice update from a superb guitarist and vocalist. You can see how much he loves his guitars.
So glad to hear that there will be a dvd and in the future, a west coast solo tour too.
JUSTIN'S MUSIC IS SO SPIRITUAL

Love your solo music Justin
Hi Justin. Thanks for touring. Your music touches my soul. Hope I can see you live. Please consider Phoenix Arizona.
Still love you and everything you do! Love beautiful songs! You’re the best! Love 💕 your new group too!
this man is a great talent
I have recently picked up a copy of the CD "Spirits" and love the songs. Also caught the Moody's show in Grand Prairie, Texas in March and had 4th row seats. I have been a fan since 1968 and I loved the show and all the great memories. Keep on singing !
Was at the Albany, NY show and it was pure magic and absolute joy!
You're still a handsome man Justin.
Just saw Justin in NY on 8/6 and really wanted to meet him but that didn't happen. What an amazing man. What a voice!!
I wanted in particular to hear Justin on his own playing acoustically with friends (and his favorite guitars...I'm certain those are his friends as well); hearing the voice unencumbered by electronics. I ordered my tickets for the March 24th Sarasota performance yesterday and looking forward to the show.

Thanks for the interview and of course all the great music and playing in NYC.
I love you Justin, thanks for all your wonderful music and your Moody Blues band. I have all your albums..
Spot on! No other singer/composer ever touched my soul as Justin Hayward has and the Moody Blues, past or present......
I've seen two so far, with two more (and hopefully the secret NYC gig) to go, and very much like seeing the new songs as well as acoustic takes on Moodies songs. The Moodyfest band did a number of these songs acoustically ten and more years ago - The Land of Make Believe was a wonderful surprise.

my wife thinks he s cute, well...she s got good taste. ;-)
Justin Hayward and Carol Kay on the same stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, THAT'S GOT TO BE AWESOME!

Excited to hear him talk about coming to the West Coast and hopefully SoCal.
Your music hits the right notes, amazing
Looking forward to the dvd.

Such a beautiful person. Thank you Justin. 04/24
Laura and I will be at Tarrytown and NYC. Reallly looking forward to these shows and the DVD. Wow!!
Wonder where the (secret gig) will be?
Please, if you can, do a solo in the Seattle area, I think I noticed a little time between Moody Blues concerts then?
Thanks for keeping us updated!
UK tour, please!❤
US tour, please ❤.....😄😄😄

Hey! Spot on.....I'll go with you as I use to live there in Cocoa Beach (Love that place) and could easily go to Jacksonville, Tampa, or Orlando. 😄✌✌
It is. Because of your song writer the Moodies had their success.
Does JH do any meet-and-greet after his solo shows?
I hate the remixes also. two or three more originals and it would of turned out to be a masterpiece.

Sorry, Justin. It might suck to be you, for a while. But you can not best what you brought to The Moody Blues.
