"I don't deduce, I observe". I have always loved that line!
1:40 The boy on the right puts his fingers in his ears before the gunshot began
I wonder where that kid is today. It would be interesting to hear his recollection of that day of filming.
Yeah....we know.
Can't believe Eva Marie Saint is still alive at 98 years old. James Mason really had that nice touch of sauve about him. A great movie.
100 tomorrow
100 now :)
There are some wonderful ultra-'50s sets in this film, like this elaborate one for the visitors' center cafeteria and gift shop - not to mention the fictitious nearby modernist house. And the shot of the Lincoln Continental taking off from the parking lot with Mt. Rushmore in the background is fabulous. It and the older 1949-'50 Mercury parked on the right have correct, actual South Dakota license plates which have a design showing a small version of Mt. Rushmore on the top, mimicking the view of the real thing in the distance here.
What's so fabulous? It's all fake and phony. Hitchcock had to make a number of concessions to his producers in order to get his films made in the first place and one of the primo concessions was to make things "on the cheap!"
That's one smart kid
Love this isnt removed....just plain fun
This scene could be Cary Grant's audition tape to play the first James Bond
Grant was offered the role but he ultimately turned it down because he had no interest in committing to a series at his age.
He would not have got it
"Apparently the only performance that will satisfy you is when I play dead."
"Your very next role, you'll be quite convincing I assure you."
how did i not see this film. i didnt even know it existed until now.awesome suspense
2:00 is a 1959 Ford Lincoln Continental. Left (of car) headlight looks non-shine, opaque, due to avoid reflection of camera and staff.
Minute 2:08 I think it is a zoom made of post-production, please notice the grain of frame.
Incredible the quality of image 4K, impresively you can see people faces even they were far from lens.
Technology of today is the best of time when to restorice film is talking.

Classic movie mistake, George Washington flinched when the second bullet when off
So did Abraham Lincoln
“You little fool.”
“You wouldn’t care to carry my bags for me, would you?” LOL
*i love the kid in the **_BACKGROUND (_**_1:40_**_)_** to the right plugging his ears. because this was one of a number of takes for the scene, so he knew when the shots were coming.*
A little kid sees a gun and knows it is loud, so he plugs his ears. Kids do things like that. It actually has nothing to do with multiple takes.
You wouldn't care to carry my bags for me, would you?
Hitchcock never fails with his blondes lol.
Man, that Lincoln is a boat and a half.
THE greatest Hitchcock film. It had everything. Great story. Great acting. And probably THE most memorable scene in the history of Hollywood cinema. The
'crop dusting scene' of course
Saw it today and had to rewind it to see that famous scene!
Famous movie mistake. Child reacted too soon ha
And also @ 00:24 Grant looks at the camera and the crew
@@behzadsedighzade836 huh?
@@vickjr98 Just before she pulls the trigger, when we're wondering whether or not she will actually shoot, the kid at the table in the background puts his hands over his ears.
Did you notice the little boy covering his ears in 1:40
The best part is that in the next scene he isn’t covering his ears, meaning the director probably chewed him out for blowing the surprise
The boy had probably been scared by the noise (gunshot) in rehearsals, so he was getting ready by blocking his ears.
Hitchcock may have kept it as a 4th wall break just to make a eyewink to a first time viewer that the shooting is rehearsed since the shooting is preplanned in the plot. Though it probably was a mistake in the moment, but its not like they couldnt have just used another take or moved the kid out of the shot, so i suspect he kept it in as a joke
@@dandogzbutt1518 He probably just kept it in because he was confident that we wouldn’t be looking at the extras
I learned about it recently from a great channel about the movies, called "One too many". 😂
Love it at 1:41, the little boy covers his ears as he knows a gun is going to go off!
I liked the old visitors center at Mt. Rushmore.
I once read an interview with Eva Marie Saint, and sure enough, she talked about this scene, and even mentioned the kid plugging his ears at around 1:40. What's interesting, is that she said that there were other takes of this scene that were equally effective, but Hitchcock insisted on using this one.
01:12 I’m Going Back To The House Now
Where is the night landing scene of that plane?
Clairvoyant kid at 1:40
Eva Marie 100 años toda una figura viviente del cine .
Intriga Internacional y Nido de ratas sus mejores cintas .
Ricardo Alegria Zambrano
Popayan cauca Colombia
I feel sorry for that little man. I probably would have done the same thing. I wonder if he looks back on it nowadays and takes the piss out of himself 🤣😂
George Clooney and Sam Neill

Nation of Masturbation what
@@bold0 the kid covering his ears before the actual shots fired
At 1:39, the boy covers his ears BEFORE the gun is fired!
Femme Fatale.... Blond and gorgeous...
But really she is part of a complot for a good cause. That´s is not a real gun shot. I invite U to watch the movie, for understanding well the scene.

00:24 I Want The Girl
The kid ruined the scene by plugging up his ears with his fingers before the gun went off.
No, he didn’t ruin it!
