  • Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

To the atheist argument that people “come up” with moral values, the answer is values are not invented. They are DISCOVERED, which explain why they have remained constant throughout, and implies they have always been. Thus, proving they are absolute.
I heard Jordan Peterson casually say “discovery of values” and it clicked in me this way.

This will greatly benefit the two of you. No preaching or teaching. Just relaxing. Ok it’s going to cost a few bucks, so what!!
But not for 3 weeks or 365 days. But for at least 3 months. Preferably more. It’s a marathon that we run and if we want to go the distance we need to pace ourselves accordingly.

I suppose it’s because I am a completely uneducated person, although hopefully not an ignoramus, my views will from time to time, seem to differ, although in actuality they usually don’t, but instead they are just an amplification of the existing Christian position.
In response to the man’s comment about why there are all these existing religions, I think we should tell the guy the expanded view that explains why.
    It goes like this.
If you do not have answers to the great questions in life, you cannot rule.
You can say you don’t know, but if you do someone else might come along and get the ear of 👂 ear of the people by giving them answers that they deem to be satisfactory.
A ruler cannot afford to loose the ear of the people because it then becomes possible for the one who has the ear of the people to install another ruler, and that is very dangerous to the existing rulership.
Answers given to the tribe that pertain to the great issues of life are called religion.
Although true religion according to the bible is looking after widows and orphans.
These don’t necessarily have to be the right answers however they must satisfy the tribal members.
A variety of different answers will satisfy different tribes. For instance the American Indians might like the idea of the happy hunting ground in the sky whereas it probably wouldn’t cut the mustard for the Japanese vegetarians who don’t hunt.
In other words people just make this stuff up to suit.
Pharaoh gets fed up with people eating his cats so he invents the cat God to solve the problem. Same deal with the dog God.
If they didn’t have sacred cows in India they would get eaten, and then who would pull the plow.
This and many other reasons is how come there are all these crazy religions including the 3 headed frog religion. And there’s any number of reasons why they were invented.
When Christianity 💒came along which happened to be the real deal, taking Judaism to another level, it posed a problem for existing religions because it was spreading so incredibly fast.
Judaism had always just stayed within the confines of the Jews but Christianity 💒was spreading everywhere and fast and although Rome did everything they could to stop 🛑
✋ it, feeding people to the 🦁lions, nevertheless it eventually became apparent it was unstoppable.
The reason why they tried to stop Christianity was to maintain power.
There is always the danger of the people rising up and overthrowing the establishment. But if you have the ear of the people this won’t happen.
But when they recognised that this new kid on the block called Christianity was going to go the distance and couldn’t be stopped, they did the only thing they could do, which was get control of it and run the show, which is exactly what they did with Constantine and Catholicism.
And they perverted it here and there to suit.
And then they persecuted anyone who wasn’t on board with them.
But some slipped through the cracks like the Waldenses, from whom eventually stemmed the Reformation.
Okay that’s the shortened version of why there are all these man made religions.
But Christianity isn’t a man made religion because whilst Jesus Christ was a man, He was God who became a man.

Should we be shocked out of our socks to know there is a contest going on to get the ear 👂 of the people.
There is the atheist movement that takes customers away from the God movement.
This God movement has nothing to do with true blue Christianity 💒found in the King James Bible.🎚
But the Bible prophetically states in Revelations that the God movement which is actually Antichrist is going win the race and will be 🔛🔝🔜.
      It’s a sure bet.
But what does the bible say.

The reason why there are 'Lots of Religions' isn't too difficult to work out. We live in an age now where we have very good answers to the kind of things that people living a long time ago knew nothing about. Rather than not have an answer, they would invoke an invisible God or sometimes many Gods to explain things. Mostly these had to do with natural disasters, floods, tsunami's, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. In the 21st century we've now got very detailed answers to those kind of things. If any of us lived in those times, we too would believe in any of those hundreds of different Gods depending on which part of the globe we happened to be born. Many religions/cults would offer up a sacrifice to this invisible God as an offering, sometimes this would even include a child sacrifice.. giving something precious to appease God. Christianity itself is kind of based on a child sacrifice, .. that of Jesus sacrificing himself to his father.

I should add though, if you know your bible there are various passages in which it clearly states that if you pray with sincerity, your prayers *will* be answered. My father certainly wasn't an 'enemy of God'.. he was a God fearing Christian who held strong to his beliefs in the Bible till the day he died in 1993. How can I be an enemy of God if he's someone I don't believe exists?.. I don't think asking questions and doubting someone or somethings existence makes a person an enemy. I have no enemies in my life.

Only possible through knowledge. You cannot invoke something you have no knowledge of. The other most likely explanation is that God revealed himself to the first humans and they passed that knowledge onto their offspring and so on so fourth. It is like the game of phone tag. The original message gets passed and distorted in time. The distortion leads to confusion and falsehood but it doesn’t change the fact of the original giver of the message.

@UCC3SMLI0XYa1aO5R2itegzg Hi Carlos, I'd be the first person to admit my understanding of scripture is poor, I've never claimed I have a good understanding of scripture. Christianity itself has split into hundreds of denominations over the centuries trying to explain scripture.. who has it right?, the Catholics?, the Protestants, the Anglicans, the Presbyterians, one pastor will tell you he has the right interpretation, another will tell you something else.. the truth is, when we read scripture we tend to read into it our own interpretation. So , you're saying this all loving God is my enemy?, as I said, I don't have any enemies. You are absolutely right in saying that just because we can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it's good we can agree on that. There are lots of things I can't see but I believe exist, that's because there is good evidence to suggest they *do* exist, I don't see that with God, perhaps he exists, I can't rule it out for definite, how do we go about determining whether he *does* exist? I'm not refusing his existence, I'm simply doubting it based on lots of circumstantial evidence, it seems to me in order to believe in God, you need a lot of faith, and i don't have that.
I've said this to lots of Christians, if you and I were born in a region of the world that was steeped in a different religion and we were both raised to believe in *that* religion, it's highly possible we'd both now be followers of that faith. When we're born, as babies we don't get a say in what God we will believe in, it very much depends on our parents and region of the globe we happen to be born into, ask any Native American prior to the 16th century who Jesus was?, they wouldn't have a clue, they had their own specific beliefs and Gods.

I recognize this comment is three years old, but the amount of consistency between the gospels, their accuracy, and historical relevancy are sufficient to subdue any concerns regarding authorship. Even if Matthew did not physically sit down and write his own book, it was still HIS gospel. It would have been his retelling of events that he would have shared, that wouldve been passed down orally, and ultimately transcribed. Likewise is the case with Mark’s gospel.
Also to consider, look at how similar they are. They both tell the same events and with astounding precision. If you and I witnessed the same event together and tried to recount it years later, we’d probably get a lot of the details wrong. And yet the gospel, despite being authored by various authors from various places have accuracy that gives credence to their authenticity.
And regarding Jesus’ temptation, I don’t imagine it would be difficult to assume that, since Jesus frequently shared his wisdom with his disciples and audiences that would hear him preach, he would have also shared his personal experiences with such people as well.

Of course, but the evidence lends an enormous level of credibility to the manuscripts being accurate representations of what occurred. No other document from ancient history comes close to the Bible in manuscript evidence. You could use the same argument against all of history. And yet, we still have history departments at universities.
