- Want to START a GARDEN FAST? This is how to do it in under 1/2 hour! Today I show you from start to finish how to make an easy garden as I race against my son to see who can do it in the least time. Starting a garden can seem like an overwhelming task, but a no dig garden is simple and functional. We'll show you how to start a no dig garden and follow it all summer so you can see how well it grows. We'll use the Charles Dowding method of no dig gardening to get your garden set up and ready to plant in under 30 minutes!

My son & I are both crazy competitive, so we decided to have a bit of fun and see who could start a no-dig garden in the least time! I'll have to go back to fix his up a little before planting, but overall I think he did a great job for his first solo garden. I'll be following this new garden area over the summer to show you what we grow here. The current plan is to use it for melons and pumpkins, but we'll see! Have a great week growing :)
Will we see him working his garden separately from you working your garden? That’s what I’m looking to see. A friendly competition between mom and son could ignite younger viewers and interest in gardening 👩🌾 by younger viewers.

So cute sweet of him.. i love ur ideas to putt in the cartoons boxes in groud and add lost of compost would love to do this to since i have no time to take off the grass anymore on some space in my yard.. great ideas. I’m dying laughing reading your comment! You’re right about the wheelbarrow-my aging back can’t handle that old one anymore 😅 Rayyan was a true champion to take it and leave me the better one! But he did make me pay for it a little when he pushed over mine on that hill, almost killed myself trying to dead lift those bags again 😂 I love having him in the garden. It’s always unpredictable madness (but fun!)

Oh my goodness, so true! We often use our riding lawnmower because it has a trailer, but it broke down before the race 😅

@@NowGardening Parents usually give their kids a break. But do take advantage of him still willing to play with you. Soon enough he's off and gone with kids of his own. 15 plus years ago I used 3-4 layers of newsprint. Similar affect. How many acres of land do you have? Beautiful view.
@@ElainesDomain Thanks, Elaine. How true that is! I have 3 grown daughters and 2 grandkids now, so I'm cherishing every minute I can get with this 12 year old who is growing up way too fast! Also, to answer your question we have 1 acre, but this crazy hillside gives us a view that makes it feel like we have more.
@@NowGardening Grandkids are a blast. Tell a 5 or 6 year old while they're eating to ''don't eat with your mouth full''. Give them a minute and they'll figure it out.
