  • @unknown_blank_blank_blank

    Honestly, if I wanted something like this, I'd go chargemaster. I love the design of the V3 and older because separated two procedures cleanly; bulk dump and precision trickle.
    The only thing that could have been improved upon is the trickler system to be able to trickle without over/under dispensing or require so much powder before the tube can consistently pick up a grain.

    • @AutoTrickler
      @AutoTrickler  Před rokem +3

      V4 uses the same concept as V3 except in one unit, with easier powder changeovers. The Chargemaster uses a 0.10 GN load cell, this is 0.02 GN, so they are not really for the same intended purpose. However if you only shoot shorter distances and the Chargemaster is sufficient, absolutely it will save you money going that route.

    Makes perfect sense to take a laboratory grade scale and put it out of level rather then making a proper lid assembly that would allow you to just change the inclination of the dispenser.

      If you are using a powder that requires a different tilt angle than another, and you have verified that you do actually need two switch between two different tilt angles, and one tilt angle will not work for all of your powders, then you can feel free to adjust the tilt using a shim under the platform that allows you to easily swap between the two angles.

    • @edwardlance2379
      @edwardlance2379 Před 2 lety +1

      Here's something to try then. Tilt the scale like he demonstrates, drop the charge. Re-level the scale and weigh that charge to see if it is actually off? If it is, then it's an issue.
      Since the front feed block of the auto trickler tilts (tilting it to get the feed started as demonstrated in the video), then it shouldn't be hard to make a shim that fits behind the feed block to set and maintain a tilt angle, unless it won't run run properly like that. Otherwise, a shim to either tilt the entire trickler on top of the lid, or a shim to tilt the entire lid itself?

It really is a very nice unit very accurate and consistent. I can’t wait till the newest version is available for purchase. Hi Adam,
    I'm looking forwards to my V4 being delivered :-)
    I'd have thought that putting the whole scale out of balance isn't technically ideal for the scale's accuracy and/or precision.
    Would it be possible to create a shim piece for the scale top cover, for large kernel powders? It could be sold as an optional extra.
    Or at least, the manual could give a measure for the angle of tilt or thickness of shim needed under the top cover.
    James

  • @HaleFire7
    @HaleFire7 Před rokem

    I have to take my scale out-of-level to adjust the tilt for certain powders? Doesn’t this induce error? I don’t understand.

    • @AutoTrickler
      @AutoTrickler  Před rokem +1

      Adjusting the scale by a small angle has no effect on weighing powder. It's not important for the scale to be perfectly level. Extremely crooked would be noticeable but we're only talking about the cosine of very small angles.

  • @86309
    @86309 Před 2 lety +1

    Adam is it ok to use the feet of the scale for the "shim" when adjusting the flow to get it into cal, .010-.020 (so if close, like .020 shim needed ) can I just use the leveling feet on the scale or is it better to shim on the bumpers of the top plate?

    • @AutoTrickler
      @AutoTrickler  Před 2 lety +2

      It doesn't matter how you adjust tilt, you can turn the scale feet or put a shim under the back foot of the scale or the platform or the back of the V4. Just try to get the flow rate to 0.20 with most powders. Maybe a little higher for the larger kernel powders if they flow better around 0.24.

    Hi Adam, what is not clear to me is whether for the N570 do I need to tilt the system more? You did it by changing the til angle of the entire scale, but is this a good solution? Or was it only for demonstration?

    • @AutoTrickler
      @AutoTrickler  Před 2 lety +3

      Hi, your results may vary but I found on Saturday I had best results with a flow rate of 0.24 with N570. Try that. You can tilt the scale or the housing using a spacer and experiment.

    how do you purge the silo and clean it out to switch between powders?

    • @AutoTrickler
      @AutoTrickler  Před 2 lety +1

      Remove the hopper then raise the back window and most of the powder comes out. Then lift and tilt it back and pour the rest out. Look through the tubes to ensure they are clear and check the back for any stray kernels.

  • @heritaqecabinets
    @heritaqecabinets Před 2 lety

    Hi Adam,
    I have one of these on order just so I could get on the list. I am not familiar with this system. I do use N 570 powder for a couple of my magnum loads. I have a few questions about how to use this scale system. I currently use an older version of RCBS that is very slow and it has a hard time hitting the end weight without going over. I see perhaps the potential for the same problem with this scale. So I have a few questions about this scale. First, can a laptop be connected with it to run it. In this video you are using your phone. Can it be operated without any outside controller? I am not clear on how you purge and clean it between different powders so you are sure to remove all residual powder. Is there clear instructions with the system to help someone like myself that has never used this type of system. In this video you move the scales off level to get the N570 powder to work, and then I think you say you can just leave it like that. Does it compromise the scales accuracy to move it off level? Why not just change the angle of the dispenser tube to work with any powder? I am sure I will have many more questions, my last question would be estimates on delivery. I ordered my system from CEProducts today, they did not have a clear estimate but said if I had not received it by August to check back with them. Do you have any better estimate about this.
    I know I will have many more questions. I look forward to receiving my V4 and hope it is all that it looks like it is.
    Thank you for your response.
