      Not really. You can buy a six pack of good looking (non brass) door knobs at Home Depot every year in November and December for around$25. The cost of primer/paint will cost you about the same, and the time... well, we don't even need to talk about that.

    Thank youuuuuu! This is just what I needed! Looking at replacing all the 26 door knobs in my home was daunting! ( plus too expensive! Who knew door knobs were so expensive?!) These look so elegant and feel smart knowing it’s an easy DIY. The set up for painting you showed is genius!! Especially for me since I always seems to make a mess! Thanks again!!

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Před rokem

      Hello! I hope this helps you save some cash! I have had mine down for years and they are still great. I will say I did start to slowly replace them as the years went on for various reasons and as I could afford to. I let some of mine dry longer then other times. I would say at least a few hours between coats and overnight at the end for them to cure. Also depends on the climate where you are spraying. A hot humid garage is going to take longer then a basement. Hope this helped! ❤️

I think they make such a difference in the look of a house (they’re a dark bronze/black color). I was thinking eventually we would replace the knobs in our new home but that’s going to get pricey. I didn’t even think to spray paint them! Thank you so much for your helpful video. Samantha Lutz hey! You know, I didn’t really keep track. I did all of them in our home but have no idea how much spray paint I used. I do know that it was more then I thought it would be. I did do the math on one batch, can’t remember the specifics just that it was cheaper to paint. BUT if I had it to do all over again, I would buy new knobs/strike plates but spray other fixtures (towel racks, toilet paper holders, etc) and hinges. Everything has held up fine but the strike plates and a few of the knobs have nicks. It doesn’t bother me... but they were a bit of a pain to spray also with the angles. 😂🤷‍♀️

    Does the door close as easy as before? I have done this to several doors but the latch part (in the strike plate) doesn't slide shut as well. I have to turn the handle and intentionally close it, It doesn't just glide close. Also, for anyone watching this, do the hinges one at a time so you don't have to take the whole door off. I have 5 doors in my master bath/closet area. I did the top hinges first. When they were finished and reinstalled, I did the middle hinges. Simpler than doing the entire door at one shot.
