    I’m in Oregon also. Love your violets as always. I wish the rain would stop so I could get in the garden lol. Territorial seeds here in Oregon is a good place to get seeds also. Thank you

    Happy spring, 🐥🐥 🌺🌺....glad you back...... nice additions. ❤️❤️❤️. My additions/finds recently are; Hunter's Slippery When Wet, Whisper Blue, Wrangler's Big Country, New Years Eve ,and finally Sun Sizzle. All I got at my local nursery. They all were with tiny buds just down in the foliage so I left them, and now....some are blooming quickly during recent arrival/ adaption period at my space. Great for a while now ,but alas some did just abort during isolation (at my new space) from the rest of the collection.( Maybe lower light in isolation caused this to happen ....yes? My other violets are slow to awake from winter. They definitely have different ways of growing per named variety. I want to see them bloom just like when I got most of them.
    I'm still trying to get that better grow shelf with LED lighting. African violet online growers have given me to many choices,and cost of everything continues to rise. Fortunately I have good light from my large south facing window. Maybe I will send you a picture of my blooming, happy violets in front of this window.... soon ok,? 😎/Cool.
    Good luck this spring ......can't wait for your next month of blooming violets, and shelf plants. J

      Congrats on your new additions, hope they do well! I found that some varieties are easier than others, I've lost quite a few as well. There is no universal recipe: some need more light, some less; some like wick watering, others don't; some like it cooler, others warmer, etc. - never a dull moment, lol! Happy growing!

    Happy Spring. I love when the blooms are so abundant and clustered so that they resemble a bouquet of hydrangea blooms.. like your Boo Man. So beautiful! Aly's Blizzard Bunny is soooo cute! and I love daffodils, that's great to see them in your garden. I'm inspired. Hope you're well and having a lovely day. ❤

    All the violets are so pretty, but my favorite was the one with the pink bell flowers. I switched to Dyna gro orchid fertilizer and all of my larger plants are blooming or have buds! The other thing you have inspired me to do is to switch to wick watering. I think it is going to work well for both the plants and me. I do have a question though with the wick watering, do the plants get fungus gnats since the soil never dries out? If so, how do you get rid of them? Thanks for sharing your knowledge on Africa violets. I know I am doing better with mine since I started watching your videos.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před rokem

      Thank you, glad it’s been helpful! I did not experience fungus gnats due to wick watering. In the past, when I was new to growing them, I once experienced them when using store-bought potting soil, it must have had their eggs. Since then, I make my own potting mix, so far so good.

    Good morning. It was so nice to have a coffee and watch your video. My favorite is “musical notes “ and “vanilla “ trailing violet. My violets not so lucky . I think I overfeed couple. Little Maya and Midnight Waterfall look weird. But worst is some very small fling bugs. Is it possible to kill bugs and not to kill violets?
