  • I give the Gator belts from Gameco a run from lowest to highest grit to see the finish you will achieve with the range of belts.
    A65CF = 240 grit
    A45CF = 400 grit
    A30CF = 600 grit
    Belts give a good satin finish by themselves but can also be a good primer to begin hand sanding if you want to progress higher with hand sanding.
    Large amount of abrasive on the belts means they go forever and ridges through the belt help keep the material and belt cool. It is important not to let the abrasive soak from water on the blade or it may begin to break down. Only for use on steel, will probably be very short lived on soft material like timber/ rubber / plastics.

    Thanks for the video. I've been using these gator belts more often. Really like the finish they make.

    Ive seen to clean a trizact belt you can a diamond sharping stone. Simple little life shows it in one of his vids.

    Everyone says that you can't use Gator belts wet but I do it all the time. The higher grit non gator trizacts are quickly destroyed if used wet but I get about 5 hours grinding from an A65 used with a Kool Mist.
    I didn't particularly like Gators until I started using them wet. Used this way they never glaze and always cut quickly and evenly due to the faster shedding of abrasive. Just something to consider when using these belts.

      I'll have to give that a crack. Do you use the Kool Mist pumps as well or just the coolant?

      Bat Country Forge I just run mine off an air compressor. You need something decent. Mine has a 120L tank with a 2.2kW motor. I am grinding stainless kitchen knives post heat treat mainly. I just use water as a coolant. If grinding non stainless then the rust suppressing qualities of the bottled coolant may be desirable. Look Mist is almost indispensable for post heat treat grinding. Speeds things up enormously and saves nearly all of the overheating worries. Thanks for your videos. I am really enjoying them.

      Bat Country Forge just to be clear I am using the Kool Mist sprayer. I think we may be having a terminology issue.

    hello what was the last grid that you grind the knife before the trizact?

    Are these comparable to Norton NoraX belts? I'm thinking about buying some 6" X 96" belts & cutting them into 2" wide belts. I'll build my grinder with enough adjustment to run 42" ll the way up to these 96" or 98".

    Are there gator belts for the 1 by 30?
